Well said Mr. Morrice! You are the voice of so many Canadians struggling to survive while living with a disability. Thank you for giving us some hope.

They're constant mantra of "nothing about us, without us" sounds more like "nothing for you" every day. Nothing for us. every round table they've done seems to be with paid advocates who haven't experienced the crushing weight of poverty. Inclusion Canada, disability without poverty, Leadnow. They known -nothing- about how it feels to walk down a grocery store aisle and know that 99% of the things on the shelf are things you can't afford. To know even store brand RAMEN would hurt your budget. They don't know the anxiety of hearing a knock at your door, and knowing it very well might be the landlord harrassing you about the late rent. or getting that rejection letter for the apartment you applied for, knowing its because you are on ODSP, and LLs refuse to rent to ppl on ODSP more often than not

You still give me hope that someone still cares & trying hard for us since the NDP seem to have sacrificed pushing for any assistance in lifting us out of poverty just to get the Liberal coalition. Thank you for fighting for us & giving us a voice!

Thank you SO much for standing up for us! I feel forgotten, like I don’t matter. I'm terrified of becoming homeless & when something eventually happens to my elderly Mum (turning 85 in Jan) who I care for, I've been informed by this Co-op that exactly what going to happen although I am a past member in good standing, I've also been here 12 years in Jan & my Mum helped found this co op in 1983.
    I have no other family.
    No cushion.
    No savings
    And no hope.
When the time does come for my Mum I will be devastated beyond words & now I have homelessness looming over me.
We simply CANNOT and are not surviving out here.
We are not even in a subsidized unit atm btw
When that time comes, I will have no choice but to apply for MAid
    Every PWD is hurting.
The government has dangled this carrot 🥕 for the past 8 years, the details & funding should have been taken care of & put aside a loooooong ago!
PLEASE keep fighting for us, cos other than our community, I don’t feel like anyone else is 😢

Thank Mr. Morrice! I'm one of them, and it is extremely frustrating how the Liberal Government is dragging this out. I've written to Mr. Trudeau and others, and I get the same pat answers. Sigh. Meanwhile we are helpless.

You are so right Mike they need to get with the program and help the disability people with more money to live and help us get out of poverty because this is a sin with that they're doing to disability people we are living on very low income money and it barely pays the rent for a lot of people they need to come out with an emergency money for disability people to live and soon❤

Thank you for trying to help us people with disabilities. Ive worked as an RN all my life, 35+ years. Now Im riddled with rheumatoid arthritis and there’s not much help. I dont know how people manage. Day in day out struggle. Canada should not be proud of looking after their own. Keep trying. Please

It warms my heart to see an empty house as he makes a stand for those of us who cannot.
    Makes me feel supported.
The cherry on top is that i live with issues created by the Liberal government in BC.
You dont put a purely autistic child on drugs, let alone brand new amphetamines that have since been banned and/or have highly reduced doses since their introductions.
The school strikes, leaving waves of kids behind.
On top of that, while they did this, they removed mental health and psychiatric care accessibility from almost everyone.
I would much like to see those who creates this probpem atleast address it.
    Sigh....

Do these benefits effect provincial disability benefits and cpp disability benefits??

  • @Tigerlex333
    @Tigerlex333 7 місяців тому

If they make 1 benefit at the federal level, removing cppd and things like odsp, in favour of the Canada Disability Benefit then that could help provide the start of an equalized fund for those on disability. Let the monthly rate be equal to that of the minimum wage (with taxes subtracted) in the province for which they live. Do not provide extra for children as a job doesn't pay you extra because you have kids. Cover the medical needs for medication, eyewear (every 3 years) and dental needs for the person with the disability. Do not remove money from the person with disability if they have working members of their household (spouse or children). You are giving them a wage replacement as they cannot find steady gainful employment. Do not remove money from their disability if they live with other also on disability.
It can be worked out logically and benefit the person who is disabled, those who support them and the government.
If you ever want to sit down with me ( a disabled person) I would explain the entirety of my thoughts to you and not just this snippet.
