In today's session, Ken 'hiwatt' Marshall shares why the Eventide H3500 is hiwatt's ALL TIME favourite studio effects processor! Please choose 1080p for best audio
8:35 That sounded wonderful. Sometimes I become so accustomed to a set-up/fx/techniques/etc. I forget about how awesome it all is when unleashed from my normal thought process. These videos are a great reminder to approach things differently once in a while.
Love the H-series! You're spot on with how deep these things are and still really accessible. That said, I'm almost always just digging through the load of patches, then tweaking a bit for those happy accidents.
What an amazing piece of gear! Really inspiring, Ken; thanks! A used hardware unit's a little out of reach ($) for me, but wondering how Eventide's plugins perform; wouldn't get the same A/D conversion but curious to see how they'd produce similar effects. That sure looked and sounded like a lot of fun!
That thing sounds amazing Ken! Love what it does with those long delays on the synths. So hypnotic. Have you ever had a chance to play around with the H3000 plugin?
Hey Ken great vid as always. You should do a video on the electrix boxes you have. They are relatively inexpensive and the user interface looks dead simple. Curious what your thoughts on them are :)
What preset did you use for that first sound ? Loved it! Also, can you sample in the same way on my H3000 D/SX as you can on the H3500 (mine is upgraded with the eproms to have all the same presets)
Thanks for sharing here Kristian 🤟🏻🙏🏻 That's program #121 (stereo sampler) on my 3500. Eventide offered a sampling option card for the H3000, and I believe it came in 2 versions (one with the full 40+ second sampling time). You'll know if it's installed, by recalling program #120/121. If the board is in, it will load STEREO SAMPLER (#121), and show itself clearing it's memory. If not, then you prolly don't have the card installed. I hope this helps, and man, I hope you happen to have the option card, cause it's a VERY unique, and cool sampler 😆🔥 Cheers to you, please stay safe (except with your 3000, go nuts on that hahaha)!!! -hw
Would love to know if you think the H3500 is better than the Eventides that came after it. I've noticed the 3500 still sells for more money than some of the newer units.
Into a hardware sampler. One of the secret tricks of punchy FLA basslines was to sample the bassline out of the synth as a phrase, and then playing the bassline from the sampler. Probably with some clipping coming into play or other punched up dynamics.
I think your eventide and my old ASR10 need to be buddies. I just noticed the virus. I'm blessed to score one from Cevin with some of his presets...waoh is it deeep..and no manual 🤞
+1 for ASR-10. Currently I have three of them with almost all the bells and whistles 🤣 Planning to get a pioneer rmx-1000, but now that I heard what 3500 can do, it made me think again. Also software like sugar bytes tornado might be ok, but it lacks the hardware hands-on control and you'll have to keep your computer or pad in check all the time. Hardware equipment is so much easier to trust.

Cool stuff, makes me want to play with making ambience out of feedback loops again.
Now I understand how those crazy glitch effects on Last Rights came to be. Thanks.

goosebump inducing gear
The Eventide must have been used in Skinny Puppies song Download for sure.
Gorgeous! I wonder if this is what Autechre used for the Killing Game remix
Eventide plugins are amazing!!!!
ohhhhh so that's where those sounds came from!

Digital tape stretch and snap, no analog worries, digi spindle re-wrap✌️🤘🏻
sheeeeeet that thing is crazy
I always wanted one, but I had to settle for my H9000 with a Pro Tools HD/IO card, lol!!! Still wouldn't mind having a 3500, though
Settle for h9000 lol I just got the h9000r just because I didn’t want to be repairing a 3000 or 3500 all the time. Blown caps all the time.

Like some sick, Wavetable shit!!! Need a solo project of yours Ken! Like the Dragon Experience...

@@hiwattmarshall Thanks -will try and load that preset when I'm in the studio again and report back 😁😁
Thought about getting the software version
Ken what's your opinion on the modern Eventide rack processors, like the H7600, H9000, etc?
Would love to know if you think the H3500 is better than the Eventides that came after it. I've noticed the 3500 still sells for more money than some of the newer units.
I have it and I did have the Eventide H8000FW.
No comparison .
The earlier one sounds way more organic and alive.
Sold the H8000fw. Too clean .👍
How did industrial bands sample dialogue clips from movies back then?

The ASR10 has a great FX processor for keyboard leads. It's a great distortion for keyboards.

@@DasKreestof I use the resonant filter add on fx regularly and agree the built in fx really help this unit
Snog just released a new album.
man i've wanted one of these for so long but they're kind of out of reach from my budget ;(
Less talk and more real demonstration instead of granular noise
