People following your advice and looking up details from the Migri website will probably learn about D visa and about the circumstances when it could be a useful additional permit. But anyway, it could be a natural topic to follow this video. It's not relevant for everyone. But useful to know and even important for some people.
Thanks for the video idea! We'll add it to our list of content topics. We started with the study residence permit, assuming that it's likely one of the most popular residence permit categories considering international students arriving to Finland from outside of the EU.
@@couple_of_expats I understand. But for some it has been difficult timing to get residence permit decision and the residence permit card delivered to their address in their home country in time to be able to enter Finland in time to register themselves at the beginning of their studies. D visa is useful for some in these situations. Meaning, if visiting a Finnish embassy is faster than waiting for the card to be delivered, then getting D visa attached to your passport is a faster process. It also seems to enable a student to enter Finland earlier giving more time for setting in before studies start. Than can also be useful for some students.
@@couple_of_expats I assume you know, but for the audience I'll mention that visa and residence permit are two very different permit categories in the Finnish legislation. They are used for different purposes and in some situations having both is a useful combination. D visa is this kind of permit. Visa (Viisumi in Finnish ) is a permit by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its missions. Residence Permit (Oleskelulupa in Finnish) is handled by the Ministry of Interior and the Finnish Immigration Service.
In the 5th step ( add document ), they are asked to attach few documents. And there is a mandatory field to attach a document that "Response to possible denial of admittance or stay and to entry ban" , and it's already mentioned in the website that "you need to fill in and add the form only if you are already are in Finland and are applied for a first residence permit." I'm currently in India, so I don't want to fill the form and at the same time, this field is mandatory so, I can't skip the step. What i have to do?
Hello i have a question regarding the medical insurance, i’m admitted for a master’s program that is 2 years length; am i required to obtain medical insurance before applying the residence permit application ? Your answer would be highly appreciated!
Hi! Short answer - yes. In my experience, I had applied for a 1 year residence permit at a time. This way I was required to submit 1 year proof of funds, 1 year of health insurance. When it was time for a residence permit renewal after a year, I needed to provide again the necessary funds for my 2nd study year along with the health insurance for 2nd year. On the other hand if you’re applying for a 2 year residence permit from the start, I would think that you would need health insurance and proof of funds for 2 years at the time of application.
Hi there , You are doing great by guiding people, I shall be grateful if you reply my comment.I am from India, I have got admission in MBA in Kokkola City and I have few questions . 1. Would it be better if I and my family (my wife and two children) reach there together or first I reach there alone and then call them after a few months? 2. Will it make any difference to the visa success rate whether I am applying for residence permit alone or for the whole family? 3. Can I get student housing with family? Kindly reply, I have to decide soon.
1. You should select whichever option is more feasible for you and your family. Take into account your kids ages and that you likely will not have any sort of support system to help you when reaching Finland 2. Don’t know 3. It should be possible but check with the student housing company. Good luck! :)
Hi! EU blue cards are for highly skilled workers who earn minimum EUR 5,457 (info stated here, as of today, migri.fi/en/eu-blue-card). In other words, these are reserved for directors/managers/specialist level jobs. Residence permits can be obtained on different grounds such as studying, working, spouse etc.
Pakistani students go to Abu Dhabi for an appointment with embassy. How can they receive their resident permit card later from the origin as you told in the video??? Should they stay there till the time of receiving?
We are not affiliated with any agency, but likely there are agencies in India that specialise in assisting with visa applications - I did the process myself following the steps mentioned in the video. I'd recommend doing a quick search online or asking for recommendations from the embassy or consulate for getting official guidance on visa application procedures.
Hi! it’s possible to find different types of jobs based on education and professional skills/interest. We’re talking about popular part-time jobs for students in our next video - so please stay tuned. 😊
Nationality or being a student do not directly influence employment opportunities much. Being a full-time student means that the person doesn't have time for full-time jobs. More important than nationality are things like language skills, education, professional qualifications, experience, social skills and personality.
Hi, If you’re applying for a 1 year permit, the funds should be sufficient to cover 1 years living cost. Likewise, if you’re applying for 2, you’ll need to prove 2 years worth of funds.
Thabk you for your prompt response. But sometimes the immigration requires you provide a bank statement of maybe 3 months or 6 months for proof of funds as the case may be. I'm from Nigeria and applying for studies.

What is the difference between EU blue card and Finnish residence permit please

Dependent will have interview there?
What about residence permit application to pursue doctoral study?
Here is the application process for a researcher:

Should they stay there till the time of receiving?
Please contact the embassy directly for the correct procedure, as these requirements can change. It's best to confirm with the relevant authorities.
So for degree and transcripts does it need to be notarized by the MEA India?
Each university application can be different, so it's best to check this directly with university's admission services team.
