Thanks for the testing Peppo :) The skill says it wears off when sheathed, but that excludes Special and Sacred Sheathe so this skill is perfect for Longsword. As a DB main I find Wirebug Whisperer 3 more than enough to consecutively chain Spiral Slashes together, so I likely won't need this but Wind Mantle could help with a Piercing Bind focused playstyle.
We need a new certified Peppo build! Please. Now that we have kushala and teostra skills as level 1 slots i feel like ice, fire, explosion and water can be buffed the most. But theres so much options im overshelmed
Meanwhile, the Slappancer that I am goes wait... Reverse Blast works with this almost giving me 100% up time on Reverse Blast slap spam for 2 minutes. The funny part about this is that I am using Charged Shells now with LONG GL. It's a weird playstyle but feels mad fun in practice due to charged shells having good stagger values.
Might be if you use condensed spinning slash and air dash since you get get a fair bit of hits…but tbh even without WBW3, you get air dash back so quickly
So is just the helmet good enough if I want to use wind mantle but want more of my armor pieces for damage skills? Levels 2 and 3 seem to offer diminishing returns compared to level 1.
As an SnS main, with wind mantle and the new buff to destroyer oil recovering sharpness, I can say I'm eating pretty good 👍 frees up slots for more skills
Pretty good, its nice that longsword can get some buffs via skills. Problem with Rise (And worlds) longsword was that the weapon itself was just too strong in a vacuum, and even now being essentially invulnerable with massive counterframe and windows is still pretty overpowered. Sunbreak nerfs were nessisary, weapon was too strong, it didn't need speedrun damage ontop of being able to ignore monster movesets, and buffing the mechanics of the weapon via skills brings it more in line with other weapons like greatsword, which can only reach its potential with non-damage skills like stun resist and guard up to use strongarm.
Oh, is that what the green wirebug gauge means? I somehow got that on a hunt and had no idea what it was. Are there other ways for that to happen? I definitely don't have Risen Kushala armor, not anywhere close to being able to fight that.
Since I don't dabble in palicos or palamutes I'd just guess that they can give that effect somehow? There is no option for you to get the skill other than risen kushala
Apparently, and fortunately, wind mantle rule about being "sheathed" only applies to when you are in completely relaxed sheathed position, so lots of Long Sword movesets that involves sheathing doesn't deactivate wind mantle as long as you don't let it go off, and keep attacking after sakura slash.
I was thinking that or not feeling punished for doing a counter metsu and accidentally whiffing it. I changed into a cb main but I have my sns roots in, this buff makes sns crazy good.
The buff Windmill needed haha, it's been overshadowed by Metsu since forever. Wind Mantle does benefit Metsu too, but I think to a lesser degree due to the number of its involved. That and Metsu really wants it's counter, so it's not free spam like Windmill.
Can’t wait to use it:) I can also see this for bow, spamming lots of aerial aim attacks with spread - to the single spread hits count as single hits or is every spread attack 1 hit?
So the kushala head is just a great piece for anyone who likes using lots of silkbinds? I guess I'm about to switch back to raw sns. Shield bash is too fun to not try and build around.
Looks like the higher tiers provide half the cd reduction of the previous tier. Still nothing to sneeze at, but it looks like this may be a 1 point wonder skill like others in the game.
@@gosucab944 That depends on how you feel about Burst, I think. Since the helmet has Wirebug Whisperer 3 and 3-2-1 slots then it's the easy choice for the first level. The other pieces of Burst on them so it's a matter of how much Burst you want.
Gunners: "You guys use silkbind moves?" For real though, bow and lbg aren't heavily reliant on them for damage and hbg doesn't need to spam them, as well as not needing them for a safe playstyle thanks to the shield mod. DB will be eating good though, faster cooldowns on the buffed spiral slash and more uptime on your counter move is pretty goofy.

Does this skill work with light bowgun?
Something I'm a little confused on, is it based on the number of hits of the Silkbind that triggers it, All Silkbind hits, or ALL hits?
Its based on all hits. You just need to perform a single silkbind attack to activate the effect of the skill.
