- Create your own macramé top. Oversized fringe top ONE SIZE. Easy pattern only square knots. No mannequin needed:)
Measurements of the top:
width: 50 cm (19.70 inch)
length without straps: 35 cm (13.80 inch)
total length with straps: 48 cm (18.90 inch)
My Bust circumference 90 cm (35.43 inch)
top can fit bust 100 cm (39.37 inch)

You will need:
2 mm braided cord (194 m)
I used YarnArt Macrame Cotton creatoriq.cc/3FRuBtP
pillow at least 45 x 45 cm (17.7 x 17.7 inch)
a piece of cardboard 4.2 cm (1.65 inch) wide
measuring tape

Cut the cords:
4 x 2,60 m (102.36 inch)
4 x 1,60 m (63 inch)
136 x 1,30 m (51.18 inch)

Any tips for sizing to make larger sizes?
The top has 100 cm in bust. The model
is S/M 90 cm in bust. So for the
oversize there are 10 cm here. For 105 cm + 8 cords, for 110 cm + 16 cords in total , etc.
If you want to make top 6 cm longer,
adding extra 5th row, just add 30 cm
extra to the length of the cords and start in 80 cm instead of 65 cm
This calculation is for
the same cord only. If you use different
cord the measurements might be

I have a dress tutorial on my to do list! You can make this top pattern as a dress, you need to decide the length of the dress + fringe and then calculate how many more rows of square knots you need to make. Also important is the hip measurement if you want to make a dress! Thanks for you comment🤗

You can try any 2 mm cord. Maybe you can find cotton crochet yarn? Just measure it (it needs to be approximately 2 mm)

Loved your pattern ,💕thank you for sharing, made one and it is so big for me ( though I like it loose) any advice if I want to adjust the number of strings maybe minus 4 .
for the strap can I reduced it to 33 SK , and the body , reduce it to 30 strings instead of 34 , that will make 15 strings on each side . Will I run into problem if I do this? Thx in advance.
Hi thanks 💙💙💙 You can reduce the number of cords on each section! As each cord is folded in half and it’s a half of each square knot you are able to do so with no issue as long as you follow the exact number of cords in each section! The best is to measure the size of the top you made and size of each knot to determine how many less you want ! Good luck and let me know how it went !

Hi! I have looked for 2m braided cord but I haven't found it in Canada. When you say braided, do you mean it does not unravel, or untwist? The Yarnart macrame cord doesn't specifically say it's braided on the Ali site. Many thanks for showing us this beautiful top!
Hi Deb! Please check 0:35 in the tutorial where I show the label of the cord, that I used. There is only one kind with this name and it is 2 mm braided cord🙂 of course you can try different one if you find, that is why I say it’s braided ( not twisted ) good luck 😊

Hi! I washed one of my macrame tops in the washing machine in 30 C recently. 🙃Nothing happened to it ( it is made with braided cord as well) For this one I think gentle hand wash and flat dry.

If you want to make a dress of a total length (with fringes 16 cm and straps 13cm) = 90 cm (35.5 inch)
I would suggest to use:
4 x 3.50 m (11.5 ft)
4 x 2.50 m (8.2 ft)
136 x 2.20 m (7.2 ft)
then you make 7 rows of double square knots instead of 4 rows.
You will need 323,2 m (1060 ft) of 2 mm cord.
When you start making straps measure 1.10 m (43 inches) instead of 65 cm from the ends of 4 cords: 2 x 3.5 and 2 x 2.5 m

Thank You ! You can make it with 3 mm, but the top will be not as delicate like with 2 mm. I recommend 2 mm here. But if you want to make with 3 mm braided cord You would need to cut longer cords and use less cords and make less square knots. I think you can try 88 x 1.8 m; 4 x 2.1 m and 4 x 3.6. It would be 22 cords, per part. But it is just theoretical! If you decide to make it please let me know how it went ! 🤗

For the body of the top (in description) you have said 136×1.3m ,why we need 136 cords becouse 34+34=68 so why we need 136 cords?
Because this Top design is made of 4 exactly the same parts, ( 2 in front and 2 in the back ) where each part needs 34 cords 1.3 m. So 34 x 4 = 136 cords.

Hi there, I would say - check the measurements of the child or of a garment that is loose fit and adjust accordingly. I provided all details in the description box and in the video. You would need to decrease amount of cords in each section and as the length will be smaller also the length of the cords will be smaller.
