I don't know if you still read these comments, but the reason the Cuban message included the thing about international woman's day was almost certainly to obfuscate the length of the actual message.
Yet another topic I didn’t realize I was interested in until Jimmy started talking about. I actually have the Lincolnshire Poacher in my iTunes account (I’m an unapologetic Anglophile), but now I find the tune slightly eerie. Glad Jimmy got to have some fun there at the end!
Another fascinating topic! I've been interested in these since they first popped up in an early season of "Lost". It's kind of sad in a way that these "analogue" forms of encryption are being rendered obsolete, as they were really clever.
I fully support you learning French pronunciation, I took a couple semesters of French in college and I still study it every day. Here is a useful tip, don't pronounce half the letters in a lot of the words , it sounds like a joke, but it's not.
There is also a version where a could be used multiple times. A book could be used as a pad. In the meta-data at the beginning of the program a page could be given which references what page to use as the pad. When the book used is kept secret, then it can be used multiple times.
Yes, Sherlock Holmes decodes a message this way at the beginning of The Valley of Fear, and we'll have an episode of Mysterious World in December where it looks like a book may have been used that way.
Absolutely fascinating. I distinctly remember hearing some of these types of things over the radio while I was in the military in the late 80’s. I had assumed they were some sort of navigational beacons and didn’t think much more about it. I guess I should’ve been more suspicious.
This one is the creepiest JAMW so far (in my retiro catch-up). It's not the sounds or repetitive numbers and letters, but the idea that criminal or spy organizations might have been ordering murders in these example transmissions.
Jimmy and Dom! I love every topic you guys cover and you always make the material really interesting. Are you planning to cover any ghostly mysteries such as famous hauntings in the near future??
I am curious, if these channels that upload random videos at weird times whose content doesn't seem to make any real sense, are basically what is replacing numbers stations.

This is enjoyable!

You guys are great. Thanks.
I’m trying to decide if I should attempt to break the Yosemite Jimmy code now 😂 I’m pretty sure it would just break my brain 😋
Plot twist: It was sent by Porky Pig to aide the communists.
Another super megazord episode!
I think that is my favourite phrase, now.
Awesome episode!
Instead of hearing numbers, I kept hearing in my head the word, "Activate! Activate!"
Theres an a place where I live with a massive antenna array almost identical to the antenna in the thumbnail..
I wonder how many number stations are on UA-cam between content and comments

I wish I could find recordings of the Bored Man. By all accounts, he sounded very... bored.
