Excellent game and a testament to SEGA's rich arcade history. I think its due for a rerelease on PSN/XBLA but updated with the option to play as SEGA characters as well.

Hey mark I'm finally a member of the edf squad..I bought my first ever copy of earth defense force 2 for the vita, its fun UA-cam footage don't do it justice. I've been neglecting my ps4 and ps3..just to curl up in bed and play edf...after a couple of shots of schnapps..its relaxing. EDF...EDF!
Scrolling through, the thumbnail looked to me like yet another review of Street Fighter 5.
I have this on GameCube. It's one of my favorite multiplayer games on the system.

Seems like it's probably similar to BlackBox's "NHL Hitz 20-03" as far as pacing.
this game was ALL KINDS of fun. very many memories. the mechanics were okay! it did take some time to get used to, but multiplayer is what sold it. the overall experience made for a game that was great for the family and every shot made was rewarding. pick it up if you can!

This game was fun as hell.
Seems like there's been a lot of errors in the description recently. Somebody already pointed out the Killzone Mercenary here but I've seen it in other videos too. Hopefully Mark could fix that, or not. Not too much of an issue.

There's another dude named Angus.... But he's from Kasumi Ninja, one of the worst fighting games besides Shaq Fu. Apparently, he shoots fireballs out of his kilt for some unknown reason.

HHmmmm... Sorry Lord Karnage but this doesn't look good to me. But if you say it's fun...well i give it a try. I recommend to you the red card soccer ;) in the same genre but better good looking

This Game is broke. There is an easy method to score an goal every time. Just walk in front of the goalie and push X (Gamecube version).
Imagine the outrage with this level of stereotyping game characters from a certain group nowadays..

Kasumi Ninja had a character named Angus. That game sucks.
Too bad the PS2 version kind of sucks ass with the framerate. But, giving that this is one of Sega's first multiplatform titles, if not the first one, it's kind of understandable.

I was wondering if that was an issue with the recording. Pity, it's the only console I have easy access to out of all versions.
I believe that Sega Soccer Slam was developed with either the Xbox or the GameCube in mind, which were more powerful consoles than the PS2. In fact, the game's Wikipedia page says that the PS2 version was released later than the other versions. I guess the PS2 version was made only to boost up more sales due to the console's popularity.

There's absolutely nothing appealing about this game. The frame rate is god awful (but you say it's fast?), the design is generic and dreadful, those voice overs make me cringe. Looks like Mark is pulling games from the bottom of the bargain bin again.
+LuminousPath13 There are plenty of game "reviewers" out there ready to rip every game they play to shreds simply because they can. Mark, on the other hand, likes to look for the positives and focus on those whenever possible, because unlike those other reviewers Mark actually LIKES games and wants them to thrive.
Not saying you're WRONG, just saying that Mark likes to bias his reviews positively, because he'd rather people try and see the good parts of something rather than being a negative Nancy all the time. It's part of what's great about him, so just enjoy it :D

Sucks for you. I on the other hand loved this game :)
