Hi everyone, I hope you enjoyed this brief tour of the poles of our planet. Don't forget to check out the Tundra Climate and Icecap Climate videos that I also produced, which give a complete picture on these parts of the world. And let me know if any of you have directly experienced these climates and biomes!
So bummed that this series is over already, but I can't wait to see what comes next! If your next project needs any contribution from a cold desert-dweller, let me know!
I love your videos! As someone who just moved from an oceanic climate country in NW Europe to Norway with its continental, taiga, tundra and ice cap climates, I have been learning a ton about my new home from you and what makes it what it is!
Thanks! And well done on your move to Norway. I have a lot of interest in that country, and watch many of their movies that showcase their unique geography.
Amazing video!!!! The polar biomes are such a fascinating and beautiful part of the world. As i live in Brisbane Australia, it's a biome that I'm totally unfamiliar with except for my limited travels. I've always been so fascinated by ice, snow and tundra. Its so cool seeing how a difference of just a few degrees can make such a big difference on the scenery and biome that can be found in the region. That really fascinates me so much. I love how you spelled it out with the difference between tundra and ice cap. As a whole, this series was so interesting! So excited for the next one. Regardless of what it is, I know it'll be a lot of fun. Have an amazing week!
Could you make a video on the predicted Climate Zones 50 years from now? What will the Koppen-Geiger system look like at this time and how will the world need to change as a result of that?
I think the high pressure system at the poles will prevent a lot of rain from getting near, creating more of a cold arid climate. But below 80 degrees north/south, where the polar high isn't directly over low pressure systems can go here and bring rain. I think it is possible to have forests well adapted to cold continue to spread into the tundra region as the climate warms, as well as more temperate forests spread up to 60 degrees north too.
I had a dream that in around a century there will be a great darkness brought about by a scientist who has an ambition to end life on Earth. He constructed a quantum-shift bomb and detonated it at Yellowstone Caldera, causing an explosion unlike any the Earth has ever seen. The winter that followed caused glacial expansion, and many of the Earth's biomes, including tundras, were forever changed. Yes, I'll get off the drugs... one day. 😜
Absolutely fabulous. Would you do a video on relationship between ocean currents and climate. Also the effect of microclimate on overall climate of certain regions.
Best video and playlist and also your channel. I came as fast as i can for now. And in the future i am going to travel to the tundra.I not sure what is the next series but great serie!
Since you asked, extremely interestings videos. My favourites were habitability and Asian monsoon. Videos were answer to many questions, but also raised one question that I had not thought of before, why do grasslands exist instead of forests becoming straight to shrublands.
Your videos are a huge inspiration for me... Congratulation for this channel, I seriously wish you more and more subscribers. I've been looking forward to make a channel like yours for my country, I hope I can achieve your quality
I had to study about biomes but I didn't like to study them, it was difficult for me to remember, so I was avoiding it but recently i found your videos and it helped me a lottttt to study about biomes. I could complete my lesson successfully. And now I love that topic❤️ Thank you sooo much your videos and explanations helped me a lot🌏💓🙏 love it so much
Wow, that is GREAT to hear... that I was able to turn the subject around for you. My mission is accomplished, to bring an often dry and academic subject to life by SHOWING people what they are and not just writing or talking about them!
I love your videos! Thanks for all the teaching. I am okay with the tundra and the permafrost but for icecap I particularly hate it. And I knew what is the next video (click read more to reveal ) I know geodiode are going to teach what the biomes do with attitude , and tell what is "premontane" ,"montane" ; "subalpine and "alpine" and "alvar" I dont know what are those , but you are great!
Can you imagine the life of Inuits (especially before goods were flown in), living in 5 months of darkness, constantly having to hunt for seal to be able to use its oil for heating, if you don't go out in the complete darkness, bore a hole in the ice and bait the seal and hunt it down then your kids will freeze / starve to death. Bruh these people are hardier than any other human.
Absolutely. I gained somewhat of an insight into their life in Dan Simmon's novel "The Terror" (which inspired me to make the video "The Northwest Passage") in my other series. The Inuit played a significant part in that epic, and I mention them there.
Fungi are in a different life kingdom to plants, while the jury is still out on whether algae are considered to be plants, despite them photosynthesising

Thanks it helps a lot! You are the only one who shows how does it look and make it small and understanding
Just wanna say I’m a big fan of your channel and looking forward what would come next. Keep going :)
It has been a very interesting journey through all of the biomes of earth, viewed with the sense of beauty that characterize this channel!! 👍👌👏👏👏

Beautiful, solitary, and forbidding. Thanks for helping to make my geography course come to life.

you have explained everything in detail..I really appreciate your hard work..and the background music is awesome ..love from INDIA .
You should make a video comparing Koppen-Geiger to Trewartha .
love this series
great video!!!
Thanks!
Yeah I probably should've watched these in order. The epilogue was great btw
Thanks, the real, REAL epilogue is coming in the final episode to be released later this month. Don't miss it!

Are there climate types over the ocean as well?
nice
Thanks
songs of the eons gang represent
I got all my soil #bushcraftSkills & trees ready for my time in the #tundra AGAIN
So we should be cutting down the imposing trees above the current taiga region in order to prevent runaway warming?!?
Non si capisce niente. Ma molto interessante
why are there so many lakes in the tundra? for example in northern alaska or russia, they almost look like craters

Wait aren't fungi and algae not plants?
Fungi are in a different life kingdom to plants, while the jury is still out on whether algae are considered to be plants, despite them photosynthesising
Fungi in some ways are closer to animals than they are to plants.

I'm working on finding a portuguese speaker to do a spoken language version of my videos. Patience! :)
