There can never be too much pattern, too much color, too many antiques, or too much art. I think I just met my soulmate. Many thanks, Mary, for introducing us. 🥰 Cheers... and Happy Friday!
Happy Friday to you as well! I remember the first time I looked at this book. I thought about Dorothy when she landed in Oz, and from her monochromatic bedroom she looked outside to see a world saturated with color and filled with fascinating things.
So sorry I’m behind and catching up on videos. Can’t wait to get this book. Coincidentally Michelle Nussbuamer’s Dallas home was featured in a video on the Schumacher 1889 channel a few days ago! I can’t get enough of her style!
Hello Mary, I love fabric and beautiful colors in a room! I envy how designers throw the two together and everything turns out beautiful! I also love garden tours especially private home gardens. There is nothing more magnificent than beautiful Azaleas in bloom!! I really enjoyed this video and looking forward to the next one. Hugs! :)
Thank you, Linda! I agree with you. I'm always amazed how great designers can work with multiple patterns and colors in one room and make it cohesive and pleasant.
Mary, this video is like a Moving Meditation..so tranquil, so gorgeous and so relaxing. I’ve never seen an orchid house with stained glass windows and Tiffany lamps. I loved the mannequin with the ball gown made out of flowers. Thank you. The review of Wanderlust was sumptuous. They book is a true feast for the eyes and soul. 💕💕💕
The book is so rich and beautiful. Loved it. The azalea tour was stunning. What a treat to live in an area where the azaleas thrive amongst older homes. It is stunning. Enjoyed!
I have had this book for several years and reference it often. I love her maximalist style and use of color. She is one of those designers who can put a multitude of print fabrics and textiles together effortlessly. Her rooms always make me feel as though they are straight out of a movie set. So romantic and full of objects from around the world.
Oh my goodness!!! What a beautiful spring garden walk. Are those paintings of your front porch? How lovely. I so love the flower shed with the stained glass window. I love spring❤ Thanks for sharing your garden tour.
Hi- yes, the paintings are the front of our house. During the Azalea Featival artists were invited to paint parts of the house or garden. We were fortunate to have them. Thanks for watching!
Hands down, your channel is my absolute GO-TO for weekly inspiration & escape! You look amazing in fuchsia, camel & white and that ensemble is the perfect foil for your stunning matching azaleas. Also, love the paintings of your classic, stately southern porch & home. Were they done by you?
I wish I were that talented. Artists are invited to come to gardens that are participating in the tour and paint a scene of their choice. These were just a few. Thank you for your thoughtful words!
Loved the book !!! When it comes to the interior of your home, decorations, chocolate, and all things, beautiful and wonderful in life there’s no such thing as too much ;) Love your backyard and the entire tour. Thank you again for sharing.
This book was a gift and I LOVED it. I was shocked because too much pattern, color and texture sometimes bothers my psyche. Michelle Nussbauer does it in a way that is exciting and soothing at the same time. I can see why it's your favorite!
Watching this video to the end was worth the time and effort. I sat on the edge of my chair as I eyeballed every detail of everything shown in this video. I am stimulated by the colors, patterns, textures, and whimsical things in this book. The rooster inside the iron ball made me smile. I truly appreciate you sharing this video with us.
This book was a delight in every way. I do agree that 27 pages from the book was merely a glimpse into its true splendor. Since these are reviews, I try not to exceed more than 30 pages. Thanks-
The garden tour was wonderful, peaceful and relaxing. Thank you for sharing this enjoyable experience . I will watch this a few more times this week. Wishing you many blessings!
Each garden got better and better. It looks like folks put a lot of work and forethought into their gardens!!! Thank you for this tour, I know they have Garden Tours where we live but I have never attended one. I will definitely attend one in the future!!! Great book review also!!! Take care 🙋🏻♀️🏘🌷💐🌻🌼🌺
The folks here do enjoy and take pride in their gardens. I can remember going on these tours as a child and thinking very little about the time and love people put into them. As I grew and began weeding for my mom, I soon developed a great respect for these home owners!
I asked the owner about the chicken ball and he only places the chicken in it when they are in the front garden to protect it from a neighbor's cat, otherwise it roams freely in the gated garden.
I so look forward to your videos. Opening up new worlds to explore through the lovely books you bring us. I think I may have to plant more Azaleas . I loved the touches of whimsy in the gardens my favorite was the azalea dress! These past few years have made me love my garden even more in every season. But isn’t Spring so good for the soul? 🌸🌿🌺🌷
I agree with you. There is something theatrical about each season, but Spring is definitely the part of the show that brings in the entire chorus line!
This one I have to watch 3 times, once in slow motion! I love the ideas on every page! My favorite azalea is the light pink or salmon, and I love the white and brilliant colors! I have pink, salmon, white, and lavender. I put some of them in large containers.
Wonderful video. Thank you. I never thought I liked white azaleas, but I have just had my mind changed. While pink is stunning, the white is so peaceful and graceful.
Hi Mary, Enjoyed the beautiful, tranquil garden tour with so many azaleas that have withstood weather conditions and changes over time. The azalea dress was a whimsical, lovely addition. Also, liked the rabbit statuary sitting on the books. The potting shed extraordinaire: conservatory is amazing! As always, your book review is excellent. Thank you!
Loved the bold color saturation in this book. I can draw moments from it! Thank you for the great review! The Azalea garden tour was such an enjoyable nature and colorful journey! Gorgeous display of gardens! ❤ Thank you!
Mary, I always enjoy seeing your book reviews, You, your gardens and inside your home! AND the crafts you do! You are so very talented and I’m so relaxed listening to you. Thank you!
Oh, how I miss Spring in the southeast and all the flowers. Thank you for the tour. I'm seriously considering some Encore Azaleas in pots. My native soil is too alkaline for them, but maybe in pots they would be worth a try. I enjoyed the book review too. I love all the saturated colors. Thank you!!
Yes- I hade never seen the chickens in a ball before. I was a little concerned at first, but they seemed to enjoy it and it keeps them safe outside of their fenced coop.
I appreciate that. I have to tell you this funny story. I told my very proper mother that we saw chicken balls; to which she replied, “Mary don’t be vulgar!”
I love her use of color. She and Corey Damien Jenkins are just two of my favorites. Looks like I have another book to buy. Spring has sprung beautifully in your area. 😊
It was for me as well. I asked the owner about the ball and when the chicken is in the front garden he places her in a ball to protect it, otherwise it roams free in the back.
A Beautiful book ♥️Yes I enjoyed,we used to have lots of Azaleas in our area ,but not so much any more, our spring is so unpredictable,I used to say when they bloom a hard frost was right behind, you are blessed with gorgeous spring weather…..Thank you for the Garden tour ,and I loved the orchid house ♥️🍃🍃
Wow Miss Mary! You never disappoint - I was captivated by the Wanderlust interiors - stunning! Thank you for the beautiful garden tour - your spring buds and flowers are breathtaking. Thanks again for the fantastic videos.
My son who was a USMC pilot and his family lived in Hampstead for 11 years. I always went to visit during the Azalea Festival. It was so beautiful! They are now in Michigan. My daughter in law, a Master Gardener, misses North Carolina and the Southern Gardens. Thank you for sharing these gardens.
My son wants to be a pilot. We also lived in Hampstead for several years! I envy your daughter in law’s skills. I love gardening, but my skills are limited. I’m glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching.
I can’t tell you what a wonderful gift of inspiration it has been to find your channel today. What a much needed gift of beauty and calm you bring to the world through it. Thank you so much for that and I intend to start collecting these amazing books you showcase. ❤
Oh Mary, thank you for taking us through the ideas and that Miles was just beautiful. I’m not able to grow azaleas for some reason they downed my property here mother and I have both tried for years, but they just will not survive but I do love them. they’re so beautiful in bloom
The Eugenia topiaries are real. These are easy to care for and love full sun. The boxwoods are shaded and get no direct sunlight on the porch, so I had to opt for artificial. They came from Williamsburg- www.shop.colonialwilliamsburg.com
I get that, I had the same thought, and I even asked the owner about it. They only do this when they are in the front garden away from the protection of their fenced coop. Also, some were roosters and they like to attack each other. The owner assured me he rarely uses this method.
There can never be too much pattern, too much color, too many antiques, or too much art. I think I just met my soulmate.
Many thanks, Mary, for introducing us. 🥰 Cheers... and Happy Friday!

I remember my one and only trip to Pinehurst, NC. It was Easter weekend and everything was in bloom. It was spectacular.
Pinehurst is dreamy. It's so much more than a golf course. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Yes- I hade never seen the chickens in a ball before. I was a little concerned at first, but they seemed to enjoy it and it keeps them safe outside of their fenced coop.

What is that plant with strappy leaves and has blue bell looking flowers growing from it.
It is a type of hyacinth bulb (woodland hyacinth). Eden Brothers sells these bulbs under the name “blue wood hyacinth”.

Everything was lovely until I saw that poor chicken in a ball….I know you love your gardens, but that is just barbaric treatment of an animal….

Sorry Mary, not a fan of Wanderlust Interiors. However I love the azalea garden!
No need to apologize, I appreciate you watching. I did find this book was a love it or hate it volume.
