    The pick up mod was a good decision! The clarity is immediately heard!

    • @stephenhookings1985
      @stephenhookings1985 3 роки тому +2

      100%. When I play with no tone I often find the pitch hard to hear. True with the stock pickup here but the Duncan seems to have that little bit more frequency coming thru. Similarly with the tone up.
      But to be fair this isn't the sweetest sounding bass that @bully thakidd has. I mean the Surf Green lobster 🦞 bass ... looks amazing and sounds amazing.
      But does demonstrate cheaper basses can be a great base for modding.

      Agreed. The pick-up mod is immediately noticeable. More dynamic range in the higher register and more clarity down low. I would like to try a couple of bass mods w/ inexpensive basses but I have a difficult time soldering. Be well.

    The Duncan pickup brought that bass to life! Vastly improved.

    Sick bass lines, my dude! The SD was a much better choice in the higher range.

    Firstly, incredible bass playing, and incredible video! Loved this :D BUT...the tuning in the "original pickup" demo was a few cents out of tune...that may sway an untrained ear ;) I can tell you first-hand that the Roswell pickup sounds NO DIFFERENT to the SD in a live environment. If you are a live bass player, don't spend any more money, you literally don't need the SD pickup.

    Was it a drop in install? Or did you have to modify the pickup cavity?

      I desperately wanted the Audere preamp Billy uses - they don't ship to UK. Ultimately I got an FX pedal (Zoom) and can dial in to any guitar / bass.
      I think it might be possible to make stock pickups fuller with such a device. The Squeak (RAT emulator) and Exciter on the Zoom can make my fillings rattle :-)

      I really like those riffs and runs also. I wonder what they would sound like on the Music Man Big Al 5...just curious. Be well.

  • @catapl93
    @catapl93 Рік тому +8

    I don't know why people say that they hear a huge difference between those pickups. To me it's so subtle that you could probably solve this just by adjusting pickup height or adding a little eq. If I had these, I'd throw them in a mix and A/B it without telling people when the changes occur. If they can't hear it, then the upgrade is pointless.

    • @colinfarel
      @colinfarel 8 місяців тому

      For real... It didn't make much of a difference you could have adjusted the pickup height on the stock pick up or adjusted the EQ settings and got the same sound as the Seymour Duncan.
      Harley Benton quality is better than Epiphone and entry level Ibanez and Yamaha instruments.
      It sucks when you pull the trigger to buy the bass from Thomann and see the shipping and taxes come up to the advertised price for the instrument.

    • @catapl93
      @catapl93 7 місяців тому

      @@colinfarel that's probably if you live in the states. Shipping to Romania is 20 euros or even free is your order more than 200 euros.

    • @jugglerj0e
      @jugglerj0e 6 місяців тому

      If you play with these pickups live in front of you they make a HUGE difference. The replacement picks Duncan Basslines have an Extremely strong sound. The stock pickups are so quiet with weak output.

  • @suk4ed

    Would you recommend this for beginners, dear sir ?

  • @stephenhookings1985
    @stephenhookings1985 3 роки тому +1

    Certainly looks good... a bit like half a P bass :-) How does the neck feel? I just got a HB ST20 and the satin "maple" fingerboard doesn't feel quite as nice as an SX glossy maple fingerboard. But I think I am odd in that regard - most prefer the satin. It still feels good - but not quite right.
    It looks like a Sire bass type finish - and that feels good (except after your reviews the M2 5 string was never in stock in UK!!!).

    • @BullyThaKidd
      @BullyThaKidd  3 роки тому +2

      I can tell u the neck is chunky as it should be for the model year. It's different but not in a bad way.

    I have the same bass in sunburst with the scpb3 i found it had way too much mids,so I put a tbx control with 160k dual resistors and the .42 cap.....its better but im still not in love with it,next im going to flats. One thing i hate is the bass sounds terrible with a pick,there is just absolutely zero lowend.

    My first time seeing one of your videos. Nice groove, Brother! I have the Squier Classic Vibe 50's p Bass. What do you think of them? I'm personally a stock guy. I had considered an SD Antiquity series single coil for a vintage tone, but I have a Fender Vintera 50's P for that sound, so I'm leaving the Squier all stock for now.
