Don't cry, even when you're all alone. You can't rely on anyone else around here if you're going to survive." Gohan screams "No!" and finally the robot says "Hush, would you? I can't take any more. Be... quiet..." Which version do you prefer?

While Dragon Ball, doesn't (usually) do filler arcs, it does pad things out with filler episodes like this one that add to the story of an existing arc. Some aren't great, but I really like the ones centered around Gohan during this time, as they don't try to add meaningful non-canon things to the lore, but serve to show us more of Gohan's character.
Chi-Chi is basically doing everything alone, Goku always fight or train, or dead, 😅 so she has every right to be upset, especially because Gohan is only 4 years old. Chi-Chi actually one of the most understanding wife, like ever. Sure, sometimes she's annoying and forcing Gohan to study, but she knows her son, and as you already heard from him, he doesn't like to fight. His dad and pretty much everyone else forced him to fight.
dragon ball z is the only anime where the filler has just as important character moments as the main episodes. this is why i cant fathom why some people prefer db kai. the filler in dbz is soooo cool & wholesome.
Drives me crazy how people want to skip episodes especially when they tell a first time watcher to skip. It's like they just want to flood their neurons with dopamine with the highlights. Might as well watch a WatchMojo countdown video or fan made edit.

People watch Kai because thats how the manga was written and generally has better voice performances all around and Z is very famous for its pacing issues and inaccurate dialogue that. Its not so hard to see why Kai is a preference over Z.

Even if Goku had been taking him with him more often and he hadn't been as sheltered, being thrust into these conditions at that age would still be a huge challenge for him.
First I watched DBZ, I was not shown any fillers. I didn't know they introduced Gohan's love for robots here. That part will come back in future episodes leading to Gohan's best moment in this entire show.

Re: seeing snippets of Goku running on Snake Way. We're clearly in Gohan's story arc right now, but the show is keen on reminding us that this is Goku's show. Repeatedly. And the first time I watched this arc, it worked too well. It felt like Gohan's arc was just filler while we were waiting for Goku to reach King Kai. And technically it is, but I can appreciate it better now.

Suzy: My Brain has convinced me that this is Goku, Like I'm just back watching Dragon Ball. I think it makes it harder for me to actually attach my self to older Goku. That's literally the complete opposite for me. I absolutely love seeing Goku as an adult and it made me feel attached to him even more. It's so rare to find animated shows where you actully see the main character grow up from a kid to an adult, and seeing Goku turning from kid to an adult made it feel like I was seeing him growing up and it's the same that I have for Gohan as we will soon see.

But then as we got older we began to understand her perspective, and why she acted the way she did. And all of this is 100% filler. None of that happens in the manga. It's just Toei Animation doing their thing, stretching out the series to give the manga some breathing room. That said, it’s one of those rare fillers that’s actually pretty wholesome. Gohan learns a little about loss and sacrifice, which ties nicely into his whole “growing up in the wilderness” phase. Still filler though, Toriyama never wrote a word of it. It's nice to see that Gohan can become so attached to people, even if they're not really "alive" by conventional standards. It shows how much he respects life, and wants to protect every individual, no matter how different.
I understand that we could just cut gohan’s tail off but just for a second think about what would have happened if raditz came to earth during a full moon, piccolo and goku could barely stop him in his human form. How could they stop him in his ape form? Plus he did say there’s 2 more saiyans coming to earth that are stronger than him so how do you stop them if they have tails?
Nah, ki moves near instantly. That's demonstrated all throughout the show, most obviously when peoples' energy is being called across the universe to the spirit bomb and it gets there in seconds. And since ki doesn't actually exist, we can't say whether that's accurate or not. But, if we were to assume ki to behave similar to something real, the closest analogues would be light, which would take 1.3 seconds, or maybe lightning, which would take just under an hour. So not days.
This is a show where people can fight so fast that they look invisible to people with the same type of powers even in og db dude. A ki blast blowing up the moon in less than 3 seconds isnt that uncommon for this show

Someone fact check me if I’m wrong but apparently according to toriyama the Z was supposed to be a 2 so it was supposed to be “Dragon ball 2” but since it looked like a Z toriyama and his team and everyone else just went with Dragon ball Z

While Toriyama had a way to change other characters , in this case Chichi being a very overprotective strict mother making her first child having a bright future , goes hand in hand with alot of eastern asian values where the obligations and hope is set on the first child. Now the anime has good filler , bad filler and annoying filler. Chichi's naggines is exagerated alot while the fillers for Gohan are very good and add more to the story by not making Gohan a Goku version 1.2

Nah, ki moves near instantly. That's demonstrated all throughout the show, most obviously when peoples' energy is being called across the universe to the spirit bomb and it gets there in seconds. And since ki doesn't actually exist, we can't say whether that's accurate or not.
But, if we were to assume ki to behave similar to something real, the closest analogues would be light, which would take 1.3 seconds, or maybe lightning, which would take just under an hour. So not days.

This is a show where people can fight so fast that they look invisible to people with the same type of powers even in og db dude. A ki blast blowing up the moon in less than 3 seconds isnt that uncommon for this show

I was just always puzzled how quickly Piccolo destroyed the moon. Didn't moon come back in GT? or was that the cosmic moon created by evil Bulma?
Someone fact check me if I’m wrong but apparently according to toriyama the Z was supposed to be a 2 so it was supposed to be “Dragon ball 2” but since it looked like a Z toriyama and his team and everyone else just went with Dragon ball Z
@specialnewb9821 is correct. They threw out a bunch of different ideas, including "Gohan's Grand Adventure," but Toriyama settled on Z, because he was expecting it would be ending soon. Then they made him work on it for twice as long as before. :/

While Toriyama had a way to change other characters , in this case Chichi being a very overprotective strict mother making her first child having a bright future , goes hand in hand with alot of eastern asian values where the obligations and hope is set on the first child.
Now the anime has good filler , bad filler and annoying filler.
Chichi's naggines is exagerated alot while the fillers for Gohan are very good and add more to the story by not making Gohan a Goku version 1.2
