Lol In french, it's "Les petits chevaux" (The little horses) (Also, the pieces are horses (make sense)) *NVM IT'S NOT 100% THE SAME GAME ACTUALLY, more like 98%* There are some variantes of this game
Just bought the game to play with my grandchildren, the cashier told me there were directions in the box (I’m not familiar with the game). But there are no directions! So glad for this video! Thanks!
We played with the pair mechanic. Can only move at even numbers. 2 means 1 space,4 means 2,you get the gist. They can only be broken when entering the starting point of any color. Another way to get rid of them is to make a pair and land on them, sending both pieces of the captured pair to their homebase. They can be climbed upon and then crossed. They cannot be crossed before being climbed on. Your own may pass through with no issue.
Sounds to me like a fancy but watered down version of Backgammon, the block mechanic is part of backgammon where a space with a single piece can be kicked off the board, a space with 2+ pieces is safe.
@@getalife1906yah it's one of the rule if everyone agrees to it as it makes the game more difficult also there is if you get a 6 you get extra throw but only upto three 6. And no jumping over 2 pieces is crappy rule as you get more advantage if an opponent comes in front of your 2 pieces..
"Lūdus" and "lūdum" are both kinda right. Latin had noun cases like Russian or modern Greek, so there'll be around ten different forms of any given noun (give or take depending on which declension paradigm the noun belongs to). "Lūdus" is nominative (subject) singular. "Lūdum" is accusative (object) singular. "Lūdo" itself is also a word in Latin. Two words in fact. A verb verb and a noun. As a verb, it's the first person, active, indicative, present-tense for "lūdere" - to play. It could be translated as "I play" or "I am playing". As a noun, it's the ablative singular of "lūdus". The ablative case is the proximal cause for why I didn't take the full complement of four semesters of Latin in college, so I won't attempt to explain it. Anyway, "lūdus" would be the more correct version since the nominative is considered the "default" form of a noun.
In Pakistan we play it with so many weird and difficult rules and when someone gets beaten all the time during game he or she gets up and tosses the board.
Very good and clear. Two questions. If there is a block, does the blocked piece stay on their original square with no counted movement, or do they move up to the block and stop short of their throw count? Is there a rule for "Breaking" a block before it is moved? Thank you.
If an even number is thrown, the block pieces can be moved together as a block. A block only breaks when it lands in the home column or at safe spots in the board, or if one block lands on another one
My brother said that if I kill opponents piece and send into their home atleast once then only I can enter my final home. Is this a correct rule. Please tell
Two edge case I would like to know: 1.) what if you don't role a six but non of your pieces in play can move this amount because they would move through or land on a blocked space? I see two options: A) your turn ends and you don't move. B) you move one of your pieces exactly one field behind the blocked on in front of it. 2) What if the starting field is blocked?
scenario: you only have 1 last piece remaining..in order to get in the home triangle you need 6. when you throw the dice you get 6..can you play this or not because you have to throw again?
This game in Vietnamese the player at the end is different in this game, it have number at the end so you roll 2 dice tharmt have a same number with the square, roll 2 dice with number 3 so go to square number 3, roll to 5 then go to square number 5, there have 6 square 123456 so it pretty hard to roll 2 dice with number 6 at the end
I had this in my first elementary class but we never played it and we didn't even know how to... Just yesterday I thought about it but didn't know its name. Thanks
I used to erroneously think Ludo and Parchisi were synonymous. They aren't. Ludo uses only one die. Parchisi has two, and can send your pieces back to start for 3 doubles in a row.
Sir plz tell me if there is the last piece which is left and I need 3 only to win what if I get 6 and then 3 could I be able to move 3 and skip 6 to win or my turn is useless
Congratulations on the video! Do you know the Colombian Parques 3D? It is a game similar to Ludo but the board comes in 3D, I bought it on Amazon. Blessings!
Thanks for the very clear explanation. I have a couple of questions though: - After rolling a 6 and taking out a pawn, do I have to advance it from that square before I can get another pawn out, or do they just queue-up on the squares of the pawn's colour? - You said a pawn of another colour cannot move past a blocked square. In that case, what does it do? ... move to the space behind it? Or the pawn cannot move at all if the dice roll would take it to/past the blocked square?
Answer to your first question: yes we can que our pawns its not important to advance all your pawns Answer to your second question: its like you can not come on the blocked square but you will take the otherones place and who was there previously will go back in its home or you can say starting point and they need 6 again to start the game over for that pawn
Very informative. I don’t plan to play this. Only watched for educational purposes and curiosity. Please do a video on: Poker and Euchre. Also, check out the game: Party Till you Puke. It’s a board game you can find at Spencers in the mall. It’s a drinking game.
That was my favorite game back 1989! My neighbor had one and all the kids were playing and taking turn. sNow, I am 41 and still I want to have one. Ha!
The block mechanic is kinda pointless tbh.. in ireland you could double up and move 2, 3 or even 4 men all together at the risk of losing everything in one hit. Once you "doubled up" you had to stay that way til they got home.
The only one normal explanation on the whole UA-cam!
Hi Trilok akli
So true right!!!
on the whole youtube? Sounds like something the sped kid would say
he didnt go over all the scenarious though
'Ludo' makers: You guys can copy my homework but don't make it too obvious.
'Sorry' makers & 'Trouble' makers: Ok.
Ludo: Can I copy your homework?
Parcheesi: Sure thing.

I love Sorry 😅
Ludo is a very-very simple version of backgammon, I guess
because they are trouble makers and they dont even say sorry.
I love the fact that in German, Ludo is called "Man, don't get angry!"
Lol
In french, it's "Les petits chevaux" (The little horses)

in Spanish we call it "no te enojes", which literally translates to "don't get angry"
Mens, erger je niet
Dutch
Actually "don't get angry" and Ludo are two different Games.
Kızma birader, turkish
Translation don't get mad buddy

I have never heard of the block mechanic and it sound incredibly op
its from parcheese, and since there is played with 2 dices throw, if player rolls 2 same dices, block is separated.

Thanks for refreshing my memory.
"Ludo" has got to be one of the most unimaginative names for a game ever. (The Latin word for a game is "ludum.")
its ludus

Fair enough. My point still stands.
@@PvblivsAelivs tbf, Ludo was not it's original name

Sounds like the origin of the "sorry" game. Seems far more tactical and intelligent rather than just running over your opponents
It was always fun playing this with my Grandma, I really wish I didn’t lose the board though.

There's a lot of cheap knockoff of Ludo in my country and still didn't know how to play until I found this video. Thanks.
Really clear instructions. Thanks for taking the time. 👌
On the last day of term in school we used to play board games and stuff. This is the game that always stayed on in the shelf.
scenario: you only have 1 last piece remaining..in order to get in the home triangle you need 6. when you throw the dice you get 6..can you play this or not because you have to throw again?
No you dont
I was under the impression that the “roll again” meant that you repeat your turn, not that you have to start your turn over.
I learned this game 50 years ago I still play it it is a wonderful game
Me tooo
Ik how to play I just need to know how to say it in words for my game board project that is due after winter break thanks

This feels similar to seahorse chess, a type of board games traditionally played in vietnam.
what if green stands beside yellow for example in the red's path, will someone push the other out
i found this channel somehow, i find it cool
hey! I have a question if my opponent blocked the way can I send him back to his base by standing on top of him
