My first visit here was when it was a national monument, back in the mid 70’s. I made a number of stops here during supply runs to both the fort and the nearby lighthouse as a member of the US Coast Guard. What a place!
@@LiveThatAdventure We took a 55 ANB out there to make sure the mariners could see the lighthouse. The NPS has caretaker positions that are totally hard to get!
There might be some closures there. For more up to date info, we recommend checking the park website or calling them directly www.nps.gov/drto/index.htm
Oh shoot! Thank you for the correction! I'll have to see if I can put a little caption on the somehow. Key west is such a neat place. We would love to go back
Hi there! Random question, but was there a big issue with sea sickness on the ferry? I have emetophobia and I'm going on this trip next month. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!
Hey Becca! My sister gets sea sick really easily and she was fine on this trip. That being said, she took medicine and I believe she had some sort of bracelet on as well. One thing that I have great helps is to keep your eyes on the horizon. Hopefully it helps. Ones things for sure, your gonna love it when you get there!
Back in the 70’s when I was stopping here, the seaplane service was $35 from Key West. My how times have changed.
Aw man! I wish it was still like that! We would do that in a heartbeat!

That's awesome! Thank you for sharing your story, and we are glad that you got to spend some time there!
Such a beautiful area and great presentation. Big Like. Greetings from Germany
Thank you so much! Isn't it amazing? So glad that you enjoyed the video! Hopefully we will get out your way at some point! :)
Thank you for the info 🙏🏽❗️
You are welcome! 😎🤙
We used to stay at the lighthouse back in my old Coast Guard days!
How cool! I know there isn't a ton to do on the island, did you enjoy it there?

Coolest fish I ever saw while snorkeling was a white tip reef shark at Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary.
Woah! Was it a big one? That would be exciting!
Es porecios

Do you have yo buy the ferry ticket ahead of time or just buy there? TK
I would probably buy it ahead of time just so it doesn't sell out.
You showed a horse conch, not a Queen. Great video though. I used to live in Key West.

@@BeccaRaptor94 no problem! We hope you have a blast. Let us know how it goes!
We did the seaplane option in 2005 for $179 pp.
Aww man! I wish it was still that price! We would have totally taken that option if it was!
As soon as Biden changes the rules on international visitors we will be coming here ! all the way from Japan. Hopefully this summer !
Hopefully that happens soon. Have a great trip!
