    Sir at the end of duration 39:45 ..you told whenever the ligands are weak ,z-out(enlongation) will occur ...but that is wrong only sir
    Because if ligands are weak t2g set will be the electronically degenerate state so t2g energy

      Only one possible arrangement of electrons in Orbitals, for example high spin d5 system, all d orbitals will have 1 electron each, this is the only possible arrangement you can do...

    Sir can u explain for d4 high spin which john teller distortion would occur ? Z in or Z out..

      For d4 High spin, z out is probable, if all 4 electrons goes to dxy and dyz then energy would be -1/3 x 4 = -4/3 (z out), but if electrons goes to 2 in dxy and 1 each in dxy and dyz then energy would be 2/3 × 2 = -4/3 and 2×1/3 = 2/3, total energy -4/3 + 2/3 = -2/3 (z in).

    How can I know from the complex its distortion whether elongation or compression just like low spin d^7 ???

      Very difficult to predict, but I explained in lecture that in some cases we can predict, plz go through the lecture.
