- Are you looking for a creative way to beat back to school worries?
WriteCraft Kids is here to help children unlock their creative potential and foster a love of writing.
In this first episode, we offer a guide to writing an inspiring letter that will help children return to school with confidence and encourage a growth mindset.
Here is the full example letter created in the video, to use as inspiration or a template for your own:
Dear Me,
A new year of school is about to start. I’m really worried about this change; questions like: “How will I get used to such early mornings?” and “What if I just can’t understand fractions?” are echoing in my head. But I know it’s all going to be fine. Actually, it’s going to be amazing - and I’m going to be so proud of myself when the year is over.
I am moving up to Year 4 next week and these are the goals I want to achieve: Firstly, I am going to memorise the times tables up to 12 because I know this will make working out in maths a million miles quicker. I already know the 2s, 5s and 10s so I know I can do it. Secondly, I’m going to get better at working in groups with different classmates, even when they aren’t my friends. Listening to people, and making sure everyone has a job to do will help my team do well. Lastly, I will do my best to make it into the school football team. I’ll ask the coach for advice, practise lots and believe in myself. Representing our school at tournaments will be brilliant.
I’m very proud of my artwork, and drawing helps me to calm down. I am also a kind friend who plays with new classmates so they never feel lonely. I was terrified of starting Year 3 last year. But quickly, I had met my bestie, Phoebe, and made my teacher laugh with my impression of a cocker spaniel.
I’m looking forward to so much this year, including Sports Day, the Year 4 camping trip, and World Book Day. I cannot wait to make my costume - I’m going to be Dog Man! My friends and I can’t wait to have fun on the playground again. I can hear them laughing already!
Most importantly, I am strong, brave and optimistic. I can handle whatever challenges come my way, and caring adults are always there to listen if I need them. My uniform is ironed, ready for our next adventure. It’s going to be the best year yet.
I love you,
From Me xxx
