- The Waitukubuli trail in Dominica is one of the coolest places I've ever paddled, but this segment of the trail in particular blew my mind. Words simply can't do it justice, and so I hope you enjoy the video footage!

To stay gloriously cool in subtropical heat and humidity, I soak my clothes and hat several times an hour. Best with long sleeve absorbent clothes and an all around brim absorbent hat, which also gives sun protection.
Having paddled in Singapore for the last 8 years I fully agree. Good hat/guide cap, long sleeves, buff and gloves to stop the back of your hands getting sun burnt. Makes long-distance paddling far more comfortable.
Have you found an all around brim hat that works in the wind? I love mine too... but in windy conditions it's really annoying.
Home is so beautiful! Amazing stuff!!
Love my pakayak, I have the same color as you. Great to see you out in one!
Great to hear! It is definitely one of the great kayaks on the market!
amazing!
🏝Loved this video! my Wife is from Grenada🏝 and I have been wanting to do some kayaking there. Thanks for the great video Ken
Cheers!
Great video. So looking forward to getting in my new to me kayak and exploring, though it will be at least a month away till I can go and collect it.
Happy paddling when it arrives!
Thanks again for super motivating videos .... on this rainy ottawa valley day. ;-)
Ha! I'm hoping the warm spring weather is there when I get home next week!
Great one!!
Thanks!
Awesome
great segment.....what kind of paddle are you using? it looks like a spatula......lol.
That’s a greenland paddle; ancient origins in history of kayaking!
It's the Gearlab IPIK Greenland paddle - IPIK Paddle: bit.ly/3nglsSs. Here's a video about it: ua-cam.com/video/fleRcLeAvDM/v-deo.html
Nice place for paddling! What spray skirt were you using?
I was using the NRS Drylander. bit.ly/41g8C9l
Thanks 👍🏻
In this video, are you using the hip/knee brace pads for the pakayak?
I'm using hip pads, but not the knee pads.
Hello I've been watching your videos for a long time. You do long trips in deep waters and I want to ask did you ever meet a Shark? And if what you do in a situation like that? It will be nice if you create a video and give your thoughts. Thanks.
Good question! And a good video idea. I just spent a week paddling with thousands of alligators in the Okefenokee Swamp, and that has been a question people have had as well. Stay tuned!
@@PaddleTV thank you. There is a big difference between the reactions of these 2 spieces though. I'm looking forward to your thoughts just use a killer thumbnail and title it will be a good one!
those paddle face on the pakayak seem too small to be useful in the sea.
In previously posted videos he talks about the surface area of the Greenland paddle vs the European style paddle.
True they don’t get you up to speed as quickly, but they are great for long distance paddling. The total surface area is comparable though between the two. Just distributed across a larger area on the Greenland paddle.
I hear you! I questioned them before trying them too, and it did take some time to get used to paddling with a Greenland paddle, as it involves a slightly different technique. You lose some power for acceleration, but the joy of the Greenland paddle is that it allows you to paddle longer, more comfortably, while sacrificing a lot less power than you might think.
Although I love to see a pakayak paddled in the sea, two things about this promo: (1) he kept the nose bra on, and (2) there's no way he actually got the bag from an American airport all the way to Dominica's shoreline in such pristine shape, unless it was a private jet, or in the box from the beginning. The pakayak bag is unfortunately NOT suitable for plane luggage; after my trip, I counted myself lucky to have no parts missing when I got at home, and now I'm spending $1500 to get it covered in something that I hope will be strong enough to withstand the scuffs and buffs of airports and planes. I'm afraid I feel like this ad is false advertising for pakayak as far as being able to take it anywhere so easily. If pakayak wants to take its company to the next level, it ought to make a durable bag.
Hey Dave. You got one out of two right. I did space out and leave the bow protector on. One of those situations where I was too excited to get on the water... I still don't know how I missed noticing it! :). As for the bag... I didn't wave any magical wand to transport the boat/bag to Dominica and back. My boat and bag made the trip without a problem. That being said, it doesn't surprise me to hear you had a problem. Having tested about 30 different portable kayaks, I would say that 99% of the bags that you get with them won't withstand the rigours of air travel for any length of time. These bags are largely designed for transporting the kayaks around town. Air travel requires another level of durability, as they simply beat the hell out of gear! In fact, I have had two pieces of luggage broken this year already during their travel through the underbelly of the airports. The wheels were busted off one bag, and the zipper broken on another. That being said... the Pakayak did the trick for me on this trip, but your story will change the way I travel with any portable kayak - I will carry any 'loose' parts with my main luggage.
