- Level 42 was the debut album released in 1981 by the British group Level 42.
It is best known for the track "Love Games", which became a successful jazz--funk and dancefloor hit for the band. Mark King's natural rhythmic intuition probably contributed to his distinctive bass playing style, along with the popularity of jazz funk in Britain at the time.

I did notice that you have two of my favorite basses, a Yamaha TRB5PII, and this Tobias. I wanted to know which is your favorite and why? Many Talkbassers praise Yamaha TRB 5 P2 , on the other hand they aren't that much enthusiast about Tobias, Gibson Tobias that is;
+anahowana hi, 2 different beasts. yamaha has its own tone that is so clear and beautiful, and tobias as well. i love tobias for big venues, huge and clear tone and thunderous low B. yamaha is also tight, its my "go to" bass. but now i'm using my sadowsky often because i just miss the tone.

Josh Homme said he taps his foot to keep in time with singing, it does work, it kind of de-syncs your brain out of what you are playing.
it's more difficult than this actually. Cause he only mutes the dead notes instead of slapping o them with the 4 fingers on the strings on the fingerboard. that's make more percussive drum sounds. he have not done it here. I know what im talking about and i have played this song for 24 years. Trust me, just check around on eks Cambridge bass lessons and search for Love Games, He plays it right.
Never under estimate
Mark King is not just playing it, he is singing at same time while playing those bass lines.

I love level 42 my my friend I grew up with Patrick Leonard was Madonna's music director and keyboard at the time we're touring together I think 82-83 hear a lot of level 42 being a bass player course loved it!! good good ol days.
