Was reflecting on my own path as a musician and talking to someone else who was afraid of starting to follow their own dreams because they were afraid of not being good, reminded me of this. If you care about something and are really passionate, follow it. You can make it happen. And you might be the best in the world just waiting to happen.
You can never say if somebody is gonna be good, by the first period of training, is something you discover over time. Anyone has is opwn pace and things that he cannot do. Being athletically gifted and prepared on rolls and bumps is an advantage only on the first period, after that is about talent and willing to progress. Who thinks that can see if somebody is gonna be good or bad by just a training session, got nothing but debris on his mind.
Man This is so Inspirational!...just proves that no one is born great and if you try you will def reach on top one day.You just have to beleive in yourself I am sure every other wrestler in there was much better than punk at that time. But look now.i gues most of them are still training in dojos or working out in small time wrestling company.,CM PUNK IS THE MAN.!
Yeah when he was very amateurish, in his film/documentary his then trainer was saying about how he his physicality wasn't great at all, but he was determined. Got him far.
Just imagine being a Wrestler who is trying to get better and the guy who is teaching you that is none other than Jushin Liger , you can´t go wrong on that one . The japanese Guy with the mask , it´s Jushin Liger in the ROH school giving some classes to the ROH roster . And just out of curiosity , the guy that gets in the ring with Punk at the end it´s Kizarny .
Wow, this is cool that you posted this. Goes to show, everybody has to start somewhere lie DemonKing said. I remember looking like this in basketball lol.
Have you seen his DVD? He wasn't the best in the world but he always thought he was. He worked harder then every other guy he has ever worked with while they would go out and spend there money he would wrestle other shows etc. He wasn't the best but he sure as hell did the most for wrestling
Punk said in a recent interview with Loudwire that this was his favorite time in his wrestling career. He would train rookies on some days, and he’d be working around the world on the others. Punk was making a good deal of money around this time.
You're supposed to distribute the force of the bump evenly over your back so there's less of an impact on your spine and internal squishy bits. To do that as you're hitting the mat you throw your arms out to the side, hands palm down and you slap the mat when you hit. This spreads the impacts across your upper back, shoulders and arms. You're basically just creating a larger surface area to absorb the impact.
It is him 100% sure. That mask, that voice and that bodytype. I recognice one of my all time favorites when I see him. Also he used to train the ROH rookies and make special appearences.
I think it was 2002 at NJPW dojo in LA founded in this year. Then CM Punk came to Zero-one(other Japanese Proresu company)in 2003. His wrestling was pretty good ! The black masked wrestlwe is Jyushin Thunder Liger, and the translator is Simon Inoki(Antonio Inoki's son in law).
Thats the point of the video.. It shows that even the guy who is the WWE champion "sucked" at one stage. But his hard working turned him into the wrestler he is today.
@rappereater2 nope its either dark brown or black (depending on the lighting its hard to tell) you can tell because beard, roots, and bottom part of his hair near the roots
It has to be. I didn't follow ROH super close at this time, but I knew of Punk. He was having fantastic 90 minute matches with Chris Hero (Kassius Ohno) and had been in IWA MS for quite a while before ROH was even started.
@TheRealAxelFury and BTW that 3/4 roll is not wrong in concept, the one that Lyger shows and pretends is based on judo, and other martial arts, but as far as quickness goes ina wrestling ring, the one with the bent knee is better go get quickly in the opposite direction after rolling.
punk was just like me when i started training. The impact of the clothsline was good but the bump was shit, but hey i used to be like that and everyone used to aswell
Considering he was wrestling with a torn miniscus for several weeks, he probably had to limit himself. You really should watch his match with Danielson from OTL 2012
"sry", Sehrat54000, but it clearly is. Not only is it easily judgeable by his hair which he had back then, but you can also clearly see his face at 1:33 onwards.
BTW if anybody is wondering who the guy in the mask is..
it's the great jushin thunder liger
Joey Mercury "He wasn't always the best in the world."
I've been training for a year and this makes me feel so much better. Punk rules.
Man this is how I felt first week doing BJJ. Major props to this dude... became an absolute star.
Haha for real. I couldn't even shrimp or break fall back in the day.
everyone's got to start somewhere
He was already known on the Indy circuit at this point.
Cole Brown are you okay bud?
Watching this after seeing his entire wrestling journey ❤️❤️❤️
What a legendary career CM Punk had
Did it all by himself
this is actually unbelievably inspirational
i couldnt agree more. for some reason, seeing the greatest people fail is incredibly motivating
Great trick in life is to see the evolution of someone and his failures
CM Punk is the man. It's just a hard to imagine him right there, becoming a World Champion. But everyone starts somewhere.
If Jushin Thunder Liger were to open a school, I would seriously go. I wanna learn from the best who's a household name.

(Not saying I am the best musician in the world or anything, I just have improved a lot)

Started from the bottom, now he's on top :D

It's good to see how far he's gotten, he catches on really fast... #BestInTheWord!!

Sure he didn't do his best there but he is one of the best wrestlers
Just goes to show you, you dont have to be the best... to be the best

at this time nobody thought he would be the best in the world someday
We all gotta start somewhere

Perfected his tech, and worked on his MMA style in WWE
This isn't Punk learning, this is Punk teaching. He was head of the ROH School for a while.
Punk said in a recent interview with Loudwire that this was his favorite time in his wrestling career. He would train rookies on some days, and he’d be working around the world on the others. Punk was making a good deal of money around this time.
@SamySantana No, I think this was when Punk was doing some work in the Inoki Dojo... so I'd say it was probably about 2004.
You see a watermark saying ROH right?
It's funny cause everyone is taking this video seriously but he's actually fucking with the training school teacher.
and he's improved to be the best in the world.
Even the best in the world had to start somewhere.
It takes failure to win
MlleSiCMaricela Hopefully that's the case since he has a fight in the UFC coming up on June 9th.
It really does in life

cm punk is my leader!!!
Is the guy that clotheslines him at the end Kizarny?
Was this at the New Japan dojo in Cali?
And here's your former WWE Champion.
best in the world
.......how far we've come
Never Give Up!
cm punk has come along way from this moment
It is him 100% sure. That mask, that voice and that bodytype. I recognice one of my all time favorites when I see him. Also he used to train the ROH rookies and make special appearences.
And now he is showing the whole world how its work!
I read that this actual footage is gonna be in the CM Punk DVD (WWE).
Hard Work pays off
this makes me green in the face with envy of the success
I think it was 2002 at NJPW dojo in LA founded in this year.

I think he is just working everybody LOL He is a very good worker..... I love it...
getting some training from Jushin Liger though, that's pretty damn sweet.
@MarioMetroidFan thanks a lot :D
And now he is the best in the world!
And now , he's the WWE Champion... FUCK YEAH !
And now ,he's the AEW Champion... FUCK YEAH!
@rappereater2 nope its either dark brown or black (depending on the lighting its hard to tell) you can tell because beard, roots, and bottom part of his hair near the roots
If he's world champ now, these other guys must be the champions of the fucking universe.
Now he's WWE champion.
A world champion in the making :D
It has to be. I didn't follow ROH super close at this time, but I knew of Punk. He was having fantastic 90 minute matches with Chris Hero (Kassius Ohno) and had been in IWA MS for quite a while before ROH was even started.
Except for this was a joke, he didn't learn to wrestle in ROH, he learned to wrestle in Chicago with Ace Steel at the Steel Dominion. Sorry, bud.
Everyones gotta start somewhere
The Best in the World in the making...
YES! YES! YES!
hell yeah he's a lot better now, he's the WWEC >.>
this video is INSPIRATIONAL
And then a couple of years later he was running that school. ROH is still known as the house that CM Punk built
I think the guy Punk's wrestling at the end is Kizarny/Sinn.
alright thanks
where is he training at in this
And thus, it began
It's not how you start it's how you finish
That last bump was horrible. Right on his spine! I'd say that was tickling the next day ;)
see what stop dying ur hair red or blonde does, it makes you a champion in the long run.
The impact of the clothsline was good but the bump was shit, but hey i used to be like that and everyone used to aswell
is that Sinn BohDie too?
Punk was never a true athlete, but I like him the way he is.
Considering he was wrestling with a torn miniscus for several weeks, he probably had to limit himself. You really should watch his match with Danielson from OTL 2012
Respect.

"sry", Sehrat54000, but it clearly is. Not only is it easily judgeable by his hair which he had back then, but you can also clearly see his face at 1:33 onwards.
yess, this is the WWE Champion!!
he had to start somewhere and know hes the WWE champion you cant have a nickname like best in the world without any training
