@Haironthegrapes I would agree, except to say that more experienced players often get bogged down with worrying about technique and theory which tends to stifle the creative process. It's been my experience that horn players sometimes play their best MUSIC in the first couple weeks. Farther down the road, they may learn to play a perfect C-scale, but who wants to listen to that?
@number1trumpet I think it varies from player to player and depending on their concept of playing. I certainly warm up on mouthpiece and concentrate on developing a nice sound on warm up and a good feeling of control over the instrument. Not everybody is like that though.
Wow! I've never played a rotary valve trumpet before - kinda thought they were some type of French horn & trumpet hybrid, but I was very impressed with the facility & tone, and you are obviously a World class player as well! I'm assuming the hall you're in is augmenting the rich natural timbre I was hearing from your excerpts(?) Is it more a European tradition to use a rotary trumpet in orchestras, or do you play a piston type equally as much...or more?
@haeuseee ... because some people in the world might make still a difference between west and east. We germans think, that Germany is not important enough to the world, that everbody knows about the Reunion 1989 ...
@piccolotaster What's with all this "Cicowicz flow study exercises"? Are we making music or conducting a gastro-intestinal survey? As for the warm ups, I think that's a waste of time. When I teach beginners we get right to the fun stuff - jamming on TUNES, not piddling around with boring exercises. Check out the beginning student on my featured video, "Modern Jazz Clinic", if you have any doubts. And stop putting foreign objects in your mouth. That's always a bad idea.

If you're that good at the trumpet, you can wear absolutely nothing in a church and still have God smile upon you
He plays a Josef Monke trumpet in b flat, gold plated with C key....
heh jack stamp :)
He is sitting in a CHURCH. Alone. And does his warmup. My grandma would sound great in this setting.
It takes a BAMF to wear a shirt like that
farting around
Is he in a church? Are you allowed to wear bright blue shorts in church?
