This is a beautiful song. I honestly feel what makes it sad is that Tom and Taylor could have had a great relationship, but she knew that they wouldn't from the beginning. What makes it sadder is that people refuse to see it's an apology to him (Tom) from Taylor (I'm a recent Swifie and Hiddlestoner, so I'm listening to all of Taylor's songs now, I feel bad for both. But they've moved on, so should we).
Well it's really up to interpretation, but I just wanted to point out how people weren't really opened to more ideas of interpretation. In my opinion, the line "I was crying in a getaway car, I was dying in a getaway car" signifies Taylor's understanding that she was wrong from the very beginning and shouldn't have done this. It's just sad that swifties are the one's dragging her by constantly mentioning her exes, I just want people to treat Taylor like an adult but not flat out tear another person down in support of her (or the other way around).

I understand her POV here. I'm still not moving on from my ex and I have someone now that I've been with for a couple of weeks. And I'm still into my ex. I'm not using him tho, but he's kinda one of the medicine. and he already confessed to me that he has feelings for me (we're both men) then I told him not to wait or waste time on me. But yeah, he still pursues me up until now. And I told him that if I am not going to love him back just like the way he loves me, he needs to prepare himself because I know that would be painful. But he still says that he wants to do it then. And actually, at this moment, I have a crush (it's not him) and my crush has been you know, I think we've been showing feelings to one another. So what I'm saying is, maybe Taylor didn't just use him. Maybe Tom really insisted to help her get through Calvin at that time, right? We don't know and we can't tell what they are thinking. But the most important is the present. However, even if they said some statement regarding that issue, maybe they were just hiding the truth so no controversial issue against them would be made by some media. I don't hate Taylor for whatever she did without proper assurance about my hunches and will never hate her. Besides, I would understand her, I always understand her through her music. I mean, who wouldn't understand her music and her feelings and her story of her life tho? So that's just my hunches (I related it to mine for better understanding)
