Nature Overload | Overcrowded State Parks & National Parks

  • I have been traveling full time exploring nature for almost 3 years now. When I go to national parks & state parks, it's been difficult to enjoy due to the overcrowding of our parks. I'm still thankful to see these parks though. I understand why some parks do the reservation system now, since the outdoors has become popular. As you'll see in this video of Snow Canyon State Park in Utah.

My biggest gripe is trailer people set their camper up in the forest and are not occupying them for days on end. Also the wealthy people reserving camping and not showing up taking place that could be used. The 4x4 overlanding people have some advantages but the government is closing routes all the time. so Sarah get out and enjoy best you can.😊

The worst time to visit the big parks is on the weekends, I find the best time is usually during the middle portion of the week.

Man I miss Utah when I lived in Wyoming I tried to make it to northern Utah. Didn't make it to southern Utah to often. My parents worked In Bryce Canyon but still never made it down there, when I did I didn't have much time for exploring. I like living vicariously through these videos. Thank you Jeepsy. ❤

For those who can travel the UA-cam influencers have made visiting parks the place to go to and enjoy nature with a
grand view. For now it's all about the Southwest since the weather is too cold in the north but those areas will be visited
by the many very soon. Death Valley is pretty empty since it is very hot right now at 90 degree plus. Everybody is finding
a way to get away from their uneventful lives for an adventure.

Tourism is nice but it takes its toll on these protected locations. I like to try and have as minimal impact on my stay at places whether there is caretakers or not. Just because of the crowds, I try to stay remote and go where other people won't bother trying. One of the benefits of having an overland style vehicle.

I lived in St George for 11 years. When life would get to be too much I would go to snows canyon. It was not developed other than the 2 lane road and the national institute of fitness. I was on call most of the time so I could go out there and still respond to the ambulance if needed.take naps and wake up to the most beautiful starry skies.
When you were out by gunlock so many memories were brought up. Swimming, boating and camping. So many friends now gone. If I could get back to Utah I would be so happy.however I couldn't live in St George area anymore. It has been ruined. Just as snows canyon is no longer secluded and virtually empty.
They used to film Cadillac commercials out there. I have many memories of responding to emergencies out there. Still it soothed my soul to be there. I'm sorry you didn't get to experience the true beauty and peace of that special place. At least you got to see the waterfalls at gunlock. Be safe and be well. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 for you and Lil Bit.

West Virginian here. Love your adventures. Wanted to chime in on this one. Within the last few years, we had a local area deemed to be a national park. Since then, we've watched tourist traffic grow abundantly. Our beautiful mountains and streams are fast becoming polluted with camping and hiking trash. Most of our local residents can no longer afford the outrageous prices to vacation at the places they grew up visiting. Even if you can afford the rental prices, out of state people have bought up the local restaurants and grocery stores and raised prices there as well. I don't mind people visiting, but out-pricing locals and disrespecting our land is not cool.

Just home yesterday from my shortened adventure .. weather shortened my trip. But I hear you on the campers .. never seen so many people with camping rigs .. and tenters are making their way back too. I got into Coral Pink Sand Dunes and got the last site. From there went to Natural Bridges and they were full .. so off the Muley Point and boondocking. I have found it wise to stay away from any park that has 'dunes' in their name .. completely taken over by side by sides and ATV's .. already planning my next trip and I am probably stay away from most of the parks .. Goosenecks State Park was $10 and a decent place to stay .. maybe I shouldn't be giving away the good spots .. LOL 🤠

    Great advice WJ.
August 1975, rode my motorcycle to Yosemite from the Midwest. No advance KOA reservations en route. No advance Yosemite campsite reservation, once arrived just had to find a campground with an open site. I did, Upper Pines!!! Stood on the Overhanging Rock, no one in the immediate area but me. Glacier Point, probably 10 people there. Didn't realize one could hike to the top of the Half Dome until a Ranger told me. Next day, I climbed HD with no problem along with probably 25 hikers. 2024, man, how Yosemite has changed. I never do weekends or holidays at a SP or NP.

We drove up to Red Rock one weekend and I swear you couldn’t see the mountains thru the sea of people parked and walking thru the desert, it was terrible. And trash everywhere! After a weekend in Mt Charleston it was disgusting. If people would take out what they bring into these beautiful places, maybe the fees wouldn’t be so high to get into them. And some places you still actually need a reservation……wow.

And those bicyclists don't care who else is on the trails they think they're the only ones. That's shameful. Looks like those bicyclists are just flying past you. I could actually accidentally hit little one cuz they have no Integrity or scruples respect for others yet they think they deserve respect that's an entitlement. The decision to lay asphalt, will bring people wishing to explore an edge of the desert, 3 went passed on the same bike type, which suggests a hire business to me.
I think however there is still enough desert for everyone, Sarah Jane only goes remote which l think demonstrates this positive.🏜️
