      Happy New Year Raul. I had been thinking about you recently wondering how you were. I'm still using my Fillmore East FV. I'm learning there are tricks to getting them to sound their best. It sounds best when it is just a cranked clean amp and effects can either make it better or worse in some situations. Either way, they like volume.

      Hey Paul, that is very helpful. Thanks. I always avoid surgery on anything but this is so bad I was actually thinking about it. Not anymore. It does seem to be getting better which is surprising. It probably doesn't help to sit there and squeeze that joint all the time trying to get it to pop or something. It feels like it just needs a good relocation which I try to do my manipulating it. I stopped doing that. Maybe it is healing some now.

I use a cold pack to help the inflammation. I also press on the joint for a few seconds at a time to relieve the pressure from the joint. It's arthritis so it doesn't heal you just have to maintain the pain. At Walgreens there are hand wraps with a thumb mobilizer to keep the thumb in place and not move especially good when sleeping. Yeah, in playing guitar, the thumb is probably the most important digit. All the hand strength comes from having a strong thumb. It really does affect my playing. I try to play through the painful positions and it actually seems to move the joint into a position that relieves the pain. I found myself unconsciously favoring my thumb and that seemed to make things worse. Now, I play hard like I used to and it loosens up the joint some. Thank Joel. I just ordered a new Fulltone Custom Shop OCD-GE and I will demo that sometime next week. Since I've been an OCD user forever, I thought the new Germanium version sounding like a big improvement. We will see. Raw Vintage springs are the best for sure. Over the past few months, I've realized how important it is to have the best sounding tubes in your tube amp. Unfortunately, they are becoming scarce. I really need to start a search for current production tubes so I have good replacements when I run out of NOS tubes.

      @millstap  3 роки тому +1

      @@JimmyDevere Yes, as far as I can tell the new GE has two Germanium diodes when the V1.4 only has one. They also changed to input impedance to 1 meg I think and the Enhanced Bypass is supposed to be Class A (whatever that does, I'm not sure). I should be comparing the two this weekend. I'll put it at the beginning and end of my chain to see how it reacts. It will be hard to beat the V1.4. If the GE is still as clean as the old one, it could replace the 1.4 on my board. It is supposed to have more gain too but I don't think I really need more gain. It is supposed to be more touch sensitive too.

    Regarding the strings, those CM blue are nickel plated steel, the red CM are pure nickel so they may last longer but they will sound a little different than pure nickel. • @millstap

    i have somewhat "young hands" and had numb finger on my fretting hand couple years ago. definatly came from too much guitar playing with either too thick strings and/or bad technique. went to the doctor with it, explained everything and recommended taking a little break, going to lighter strings and getting some Qi Gong Balls and just sping them around with the hand. it really helped. something about Qi Gong Balls that is really good for the hands. i feel like they bettered my muscles, reflexes and precision too. maybe give them a try if you havent already. there is even some positive effect on the whole body these balls allegedly give.

      Hey Greg. Yeah, 10,000IU of D3 sounds a little high. I take 2000IU. I know it can have some bad side affects. The U.S. RDA is 600IU/day. There was one time recently where my blood work showed I was high D3 and my doctor told me to back off a little. At the time I think I was taking 5,000IU. That is interesting that it helped your numbness though. I still have some Voodoo Child sets too. Those are good strings but these Curt Mangans even outlast the Fenders.
