As a fellow explorer - I would like to say thank you for treating her like the person she still is - and talking to her like a friend. It truly makes a difference!
I love how kind & courteous you are with her. It's not like you are speaking to a spirit but a living person. Not many investigators act that way so it is amazing to see some decency in this world!!!!
I would, as soon as it got dark. It would be inky black. In the woods the sky is blacked out and you can't see your hand in front of your face. That's when I would have high tailed it out of there, esp with no electricity, running water, etc. remember she was "alone." Brave lady indeed.
The river is a great carrier of spirit. Beautiful place to have lived and to have created such lovely artwork. Thank you for being so respectful to her. This is why she chose to speak to you. Great video!
Erick Bustos , I was speaking of the female artist/ghost that he was talking to in his interview, not about the river. I guess I must make myself clearer next time. I had just forgotten the artist / ghosts' name. Since you mentioned it, most rivers, boats/ships and storms ( such as hurricanes ) have been named after women until of late. Now, many of these things are named after men. So there's that....😉
Fantastic video! Mayna Treanor Avent is an American Treasure. She loved the Smokey Mountains & the Elkmont community. Indeed her presence is still felt today. Kudos to you for allowing everyone to experience it. Those were definitely her footsteps that you heard. Can't wait to see your next video.
Another GREAT video, dude . The parts with the EMF detector were mind-blowing. Literally only responded when you asked questions. That was amazing. Great work, and thank you!
She seems so sweet, I love how she was answering your questions! I'd love to ask her some things and to bring materials to paint while visiting her cabin.
I love everything about this video. When you were lost, I was worried then relieved when you found the right trail. That bridge!! Someone took hours making that! Thank you for this wonderful adventure.
This place is amazing. The communication was spot on. I hope someone will preserve this time capsule so others can enjoy it's history. Absolute gem, thank you for sharing. Much love and be safe.
Yep I need a remote cabin like that in a forest to escape daily life and stress great vid. I really think that was her answering you great communicating she didnt mind you being there!
This was an AMAZING video not only beautiful scenery and the cutest cabin with a babbling stream next to it but also some of the best paranormal evidence I’ve seen in a while! Those were intelligent responses! It’s no wonder she loved that place if I could go anywhere in my afterlife I would go there too! It’s easy to see why she loved it there it’s a very inspiring place and I think you did her justice and was very respectful to her! Thanks for sharing!
There's a lot of old cabins hidden around the Smokies. I hate the government won't do much to preserve all of them. The Wonderland Hotel was an awesome place. My family went way back at that location. Sorrowfully, the government let the main Lodge rot to the ground. Good job on the video. I hope you wore insect repellent!
I'm trying to buy and save an historic property now, but as it isnt in good enough shape to be eligible for a mortgage, I'm working to raise the funda through advertisiers, merch, etc. Part of this restoration will also be about saving these old, abandoned historic places and instead of making grants available just to local governments for restorations, make them available to regular people, as it is average people who want to save these places but usually don't have the means to do so.
Supposedly it had a couple of fires after it closed but most of the historical artifacts were dismantled and are stored in OakRidge by the DOE and National LAb.
When you mentioned a “log bridge” I was not expecting that 😱!!! When you spied the spider 🕷 & “get outta my way spider 🕷 I ain’t got time for you!” ( or along that line ) I couldn’t help but bust out laughing! 🤣
Your right there are a lot of places that are not haunted but most abandoned places just have a creepy vibe. Most of the places that Anthony and I have gone to together have had stories of murder death and some have ghostly sightings or paranormal activity. We like to explore these places to see if we experience anything. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. If you go through my videos there are a lot of explores of abandoned places that there were no uneasy feelings or paranormal activity. @@debscreepy Well, for one thing... the older the house gets the more history follows it. So, basically any abandoned house slash building would have death. That's why its it's abandoned lol right? Period, there is paranormal history everywhere.
Sometimes when a rental house becomes vacant over and over again i wonder if hauntings are causing ppl to move out. As far as empty houses, i believe its easier to notice spirit activity in those and empty places attract alot of paranormal seekers
Amusing hearing about "not many people use this path", "off the beaten path" and seeing heavily traveled paths, maintained paths, even man made bridge. I appreciate the video if not just for hearing other people's perspective on what is "remote", "old", etc... Eye opening.
I live 45 minutes from here and I paint landscapes. I’m going to try to come up here and paint it if I can and leave the canvas for her and some things. I don’t know how long it would be before someone’s steals it 🥲 but I think it will be worth the effort
That bridge though. Hey, at least they made a railing. I'm not a fan of falling so I'm thankful that you were cool enough to take us along with you. Feel like a fly on your wall. Appreciate you bro.
Such beautiful scenery. Even this cottage is in a beautiful setting. It makes me wonder how in the world she ever got her belongings to that point in the forest. I'd love a place like that just to be alone in a quiet place.
Wow...just amazing! I’ve never watched a video that gave me such happy chills!! This is possibly my favorite video that you’ve done. Keep up the good work! 👏🏼🙌🏽👏🏼🙌🏽 Thank you for doing what you do. Stay safe!
I must say, you are the most respectful researcher I've seen on UA-cam. Some others are down right ill mannered dealing with older spirits. Her cabin and the surrounding land are just beautiful. I hope the park service maintains it, and I hope that trail stays as hidden and difficult as it is now. She was being nice to you, but she doesn't like casual wanderers just walking in and around her house.
That’s what I just love about you, you’re respectful of places and of course the spirits within them! You ask the right questions and get some amazing answers keep up the awesome work.
What a cool bridge at--9:04--. I'd luv to cross that. Spent 14 years in the Army & it reminds me of stuff we had to do in basic training. We didn't have a bridge like that but we had lots of other challenging things, like a huge cargo net that went up really high. Once up top you had to roll onto the huge tree trunk and go down the other side. One girl froze at the top, they had a heck of a time getting her down.
That was quite an adventure you had to take to get to the cabin!! Thank you for not giving up!! What a crazy bridge to cross over !! WOW loved the EVP session!!
Hey Jon, around 9:46 to 10:23, as you were making your way across that what i call a log bridge, Man I was holding my breath praying you weren't going to fall. I definitely heard footsteps when you asked the lady if she was there, very eerie.
We live near the Smokey! Love hearing the creek in the back. Looks like our back yard! Love it! We added on two different additions to a log cabin given to my husband by his parents about 10 years ago. Not a mansion, but very country, and relaxing as what you just filmed there. On the right side of our cabin is a cliff! And river! Life is so simple here, not like the crazy cities. Thanks!
Jon, that bridge was well dodgy. I don't know if I would have had the guts to cross it! At 18:07 it really did sound like footsteps overhead. There is nothing there that could replicate that sound. When you used the KII the response was amazing! and what do you know... she responded that she had been walking about up there!!! A very friendly inviting soul resides in that cabin. Hardly surprising she stayed. Such a beautiful place. With the spirit box I did hear snippets I couldn't understand but one word was quite clear to me when you asked her if there was something she wanted to say, I thought I heard the word 'cabin' at 24:30. Great vid. And this time no big cat wanting you to leave. Instead, a welcoming soul who didn't mind you being there because you appreciated it for what it was and were open and friendly to her. You had a great day I think
Not only was the trek up the hill exciting, the communication with the lady of the house was heartwarming. So nice to see she's still enjoying her solitude. I'm sure she enjoyed your visit.
Excellent video! The EMF detector responses were fairly convincing and I thought I heard overhead footsteps, before you mentioned them. Great location, as well!
That was awesome, those four footsteps where definitely woman tight steps. She loves that people are able to see and feel the beauty of her cabin, she is loving your energy and knows you appreciated and appreciate the history and beauty of the entire place.. Cool one john. An excellent video. Thanks for sharing
Beautiful. The Government will always take what they want. Only we can shrink the greed, mostly by not using government services unless absolutely necessary. The NPS took my ancestors property on the Outer Banks of NC and now restrict our ( the publics ) use of it.
They took our home in Pennsylvania also...it was at the edge of a forest which was donated to the state when the owner died. They decided the forest ranger needed to live there. This was in the 60s and strangely enough, there are now private houses that have been built on the edge of forest land since then. I wonder who profited from the sale of that donated land...

I just found you and can't wait for the next find. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
This was great Jon, very exciting. I love it when we can give a voice to the spirits, I think they have a lot to say if we could hear them. Thanks again for a great vid. I was scared for you getting lost almost, and I could never have gotten over that bridge well done.
Awesome find Jon. Amazing she is there! Great job, keep up the great job! ❤
No way! That bridge....what!!?? 😬 You’re brave Jon!!! 😀
Great video Jon! That was so cool! She actually liked you it seemed. Keep it up man!
Thank you for sharing this with us! I like that you are so respectful of her property and compassionate toward her.
Awesome video!! I would love to take that hike someday and maybe retire somewhere like it, except I write books instead of paint. Thanks for sharing.🙋❤👻
Loved the video Jon, I could imagine the cabin looking really cosy with curtains and furnishings in there. Great EVP session. Great place to go if you want to get away and think especially being next to water!
Amazing Meter action! Best I’ve ever seen! Thanks for a great video!
This may be the most incredible Intelligent interaction with a spirit that I've ever seen before! Nice job! You're friend wasn't lying that's for sure! 👍
Awesome evidence! Very interesting spot! That bridge you crossed.
I realize this is 3 years old, but I am watching for the first time. I LOVE it! Your camera kept going out of focus which I have heard is a sign spirits are around! Patricia Gambino Harrington
Beautiful place ❣️ I’m from NC and this is by far one of my favorites. Great 👍 job. That was definitely footsteps wow 😮
What a Beautiful Cabin, it's no wonder She loved it. I did hear the footsteps. I love her artwork as well. Loved this Video.
Me too
I hear the FOOTSTEPS, and your camera was really blurry. When you put the camera in the loft it was blurry. SHE'S DEFINITELY THERE..

Great Location and amazing Evidence with the EMF John,Enjoyed This Video!!!
New sub here! This was super cool! That bridge was insane
Thank you Jon for taking us along on your adventure it is such a beautiful place. My dream house is a two story with a loft and a upstairs balcony and a wrap around porch built a lot like hers. Take care of yourself and God Bless You and Your Family 💓
2:43 at the exact moment you step foot onto the steps you can hear (I assume just a bird) quite clearly call “hello” I just found a little odd and creepy.
I wonder if this is the same mysterious cabin talked about in the missing 411 cases probz not but still an interested watch.
John thank you so much for exploring all of these places that most ppl will never visit but only see through your videos. Excellent Paranormal Evidence!
Wow, this is amazing! But those footsteps were hella creepy!!
What a grand adventure Jon! It had a beautiful nature walk n trail to nowhere. N a scary wood bride n snake skin n a very talkative spirit! Wonderful time! Loved it all. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and God bless.
