I'm 78 and when was in my 20s I was member of a slot racing club .We had a great time ever Saturday afternoon good old days 👍Glad to see it's still going 👍
😅
When I was about 9 to 11 yrs my Dad bought me a 1/32 scale slot car track (if I remember correctly so long ago). our home was very small at the time, so my dad and I had mounted the track on a 3/4 inch piece of plywood placed hinges and mounted it on the wall so we could pivot the track up when I was not playing with it.... he made me a special wooden box to put my cars and gear in .. I had the most amazing Dad, he was my best friend, even to all my friends .. When Dad pass there was over 600 people that came to pay there respect.. so great full thanks dad and mom for this amazing life you let me have! .... thanks for the memories of slot car racing total clean fun. T
PS: at 9 he did the work I only got in the way LOL :-).
At 9 I was capable of doing most of the work myself with little help/corrections from Dad...
So glad to see people still racing slot cars. I had so much fun as a kid racing, and building cars.
People just having a good time together! Brings back great memories
Im sorry i never heard of this,,just came across this page ,,and im gonna subscribe to see more.I want a car now
Back in the 60s, I built a car that had a $6 silver-wound armature. Hella fast car!
I was so happy to view this clip. I felt the electricity in the air ! This was pure love for the hobby
It’s great to see people with a common interest and no drama. I would like to get into that action.
That is the most surpricing thing I seen on the tube for a while. Very fascinating to see the old slot system still running.
I used to race slot cars 50+ years ago. Ended up lap record holder just before the club folded. Tuning fork chassis, group 20 anglewinder motor and a 24th scale lexan Mclaren M8D body using foam tyres and Tiger Juice for grip. Still got all my stuff and nowhere to use it.
My dad had a 6 lane oval in Middletown In back in the late 60’s we had monogram midget racing every Sunday was a good time glad to see the hobby is still alive!!
That is so awesome! I haven't seen a slot car track/shop in 40 years. All the tracks here in SoCal got closed down a long time ago. Along with all the Hobby Shops..
Cali sucks now.
wow I think youtube are mind readers but somehow this popped up. Brought back amazing memories of the old slot car tracks we used to race at as kids. We used to spend a lot of money and time at those places but were so fun. What beautiful drag race cars. For some reason I always remember we saved up to get these Orange tires , they were the best (on the course not sure of drag racing). LOL. All of our allowance went into our cars. Love this place. Thanks for the video.
You too? I was addicted when I was 10 in 1963. Still remember the hours spent racing at Checkered Flag Speedway. They also had a drag track. Then came Free Flight planes, then R/C planes and cars.
This is a quality video....yes, we all want to see racing, but here we have the behind the scenes grass roots atmosphere that happens at the track, the people, the cars, and the talk that happens at these events...THIS is whats really goin' on........good job getting around and showing what the people behind the hobby are doing and saying...
Mike Spillman thanks for the kind words :)
I never had any idea this was still a thing anywhere. I remember being a kid and my dad took me to "House of Wheels and Toys" in St Joseph and they had a huge banked oval slot car track and it was in the basement which was always full of people. Thanks for sharing.
I made my own aluminum wheels on my Southbend lathe and cast black silicone on them in a delrin mold. Also sold lots of lightened t jet gears on feebay. I indexed 6 holes and spot faced them. CNC machined meant Christian Needs Cash. Those gears went all over America. Super cool video!
I’ve not raced slot cars since I was a kid but I’d love to give it a try again. We need a place like this in England!
Theyd slap road tax on you atm 😂
What's stopping you? lol
I miss slots, did it in the late 60s and early 70s Loved slots, then went to serve in the Army
Have a Great Day 👍
God Bless America 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
me too, 67, then went to viet nam in 68
I was about 12 when I stumbled into this type of racing! I was absolutely gobsmacked! I just rediscovered my youth watching this "little" throw down! While I'm not quite sure of is that the sizes of these slot car tracks look a bit smaller in scale to what I remember it was always a product of the building's size that allowed those larger tracks. It had 4 very HUGE race tracks with the La Mans 180 degree banking on 1 of the 4 tracks. I spent nearly all summer at that place! When school started in the fall I would prepare my next season's race car for the tracks! Thanks for bringing this memory back to me Ed.
Slot car racing was a big deal when I was growing up although no drags. Hats off to these dudes
I seriously need this in my life.........
What a place ! that there is slot car heaven Awesome ! those cars are amazing Thanks for posting this.
WOW. WOW. WOW-----glad I stopped by.😀
Fun hobby. Thanks for posting.
WOW! what memories! 56 yrs. ago (1967) I had about 6 or 7 slot cars and a lot of spare parts. I used to take a taxi across town to race my cars. Thanks for the memories. Oh yeah, does anyone remember the old Mantra Ray slot car, it was one of my favorites.
That car that got dropped in the beginning looked awesome
I have a half brother that is 12 years older than me. In the early 90s he gave me his old slot car tracks and cars. I used to like the smell of them. Electric motors and rubber. I feel like I smell that smell just from watching this video.
5:31 that black Nova , love it!
I can still remember the distinct smell of the cars during racing.
WOW! I remember playing with slot cars back in the 70s. I didn't think slot car racing was still around. The best thing is lol, I only live around 20min from Richmond, IN and had no clue that was there. They'll be seeing me soon, that is if they are still open. I saw this video is 4 years old.
I haven't raced in over 20 years. We never fixed up our cars like I seen here. Just painted basic lexan body and that was it. Was a lot of fun.
I'm just getting back into slot cars since I was a child of the 80s who played with Tyco products. Great video and an awesome channel! Subscribed!!!
Fantastic video love it the interviews showing cars great job am a avid golfer thinking of taking up a hobby for the winter months
Incredible place!!! Thank you for the video! 🏁
I'm 62 , our slot car hangout was , Tom Thumb , in California. I had a 63 Corvette.
Was looking for stuff about my old tamiya RC car, ended up here! The joys of UA-cam. Glad I did, that was so great to see. I had a "le mans" scalextric set about 35 or so years ago and this brought back Many happy memories! Love the level of dedication and detail in the cars these days. Fantastic stuff. Greetings from Haarlem in the Netherlands, via Yorkshire UK :)
Growing up I raced from HO to 1/24 scale cars. It was big fun. I'd go into one of these places today if there was one near me.
wow in windsor ontario canada across from Detroit we had drag cars slot track racing just like this in 1968 ,, you would bring your slot car and it had steel brushes under the car at the front ,, when they wore out in a month or so ,, well after working on a paper route with that money i would go buy new brushes ,, at a num age of 12 i was the happiest kid on the block most of my friends on a satuday we would go race our cars ,, better that all thes kids today are on a game on there cell phone ,,i cant believe it they all have cell s ,, this is better every city or town should have this type of track ,,
thanks Edward ,, those slicks back in the day were spongey lots of grip for the track
This is cool! I've seen HO slot drags but never 1/24th scale. Thanks
Schön lange Geraden, flüssige Strecke, Holzbahn....MEGA !👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Pretty cool place! Nice video too!
Oh wow. Back in the 70's we had Tom Thumb racing! B
I have memories of playing around with some of this stuff, especially an HO scale. I upgraded the motor on my 32 Ford and I decided it was going to beat my model railroad that went around the outside of my raceway. I got to the crossing guard and the car got hung up and apparently I gave it a bit too much throttle. The engine got so hot and cold the slot car on fire. It died a slow painful death that day. It almost burnt down my entire lay out because the grass paper I had caught on fire too. Aaah the memories of being a kid again.
Mid 60's my brothers and I got a four lane ho scale track that curved and circled a paper mountain (hill) at each end. As layed out all lanes evened out from start/end. Over a few years the staples that held the sections together broke to a point we couldn't make a whole track. We just made a straight dragstrip. My friend and I proceeded to mount it on plywood permanently. We each bought a couple cars that we altered gears, wheels, contacts and pegs for the slot. Last used mid 70's. These cars were just under 2 to 3 inches long. My best one was a 74 Grand Am as it was longest. On the complete course my 63 vette was best. He ran 240 Z and 75 Torino.
I love it. Great Place, Great Track, Great Poeple. Wish i could be there.
Yeah, same here..
I'm from Salt I'm from Salt Lake City Utah and we finally got another trackback in 20 years since I've even drove a slot car man so glad you guys are doing it
Looks like a blast! 🏁
Super !!!!! Bravo !!!!!
a little more than 40 years ago, I was a kid in Texas and there was this "you park it" storage lot next to the apartments I lived in. I would sneak in and break into the old Greyhound buses and school buses that were parked there. There was also this large, spooky warehouse, all rusted and scary looking. One day, I finally got the courage to go check it out. Inside the wareouse was a scene just like this, a bunch of dudes and an enormous race track. I of course had seen my share of tyco tracks, but I had never seen anything like this. It didn't click with me for one reason or another, so I never really got into the hobby, but I never forgot that moment of stumbling into a subculture. Cool video, you guys are awesome.
Thanks for sharing that story :)
Great Video
These guys are hardcore
Crazy algoritme brought me here. I like This!!!!!!lol
Wish we had that around here in Maine. Good video too bud. I've watched several of your videos , you do a good job.
This is really 😎 The funny cars are awesome guys!!!
I was in High school in OKC. There was a lawnmower repaired shop that opened a drag track and I loved it. They slowly ran less and less though. I did get to meet a husband/ wife and there young son that would come up from TX. They had a well known chassis company and would even do body trimming from the molds they had. I wanna say DSR but I don’t remember. I’ve wanted to get back into it but it’s been about 3 decades and I just don’t have the body to travel long distances anymore. I’ve thought about building a home track but it just doesn’t sound very fun racing against myself.
The way he was holding it I was just waiting for that car to hit the floor. LOL
And also Beautiful Cars!!!
My man, just as l thought the car was going to roll off that board he was carrying it on, ' Boom ' the car goes flying off of his hands !
You guys look like a great buncha fellas to hang out with!
Holy molly those are some great looking cars great track I'm back to slot cars after doing dirt bikes gocarts ,cars, boats, and weman slot cars are the best oh I still have all of the big stuff just don't buy any more of the big stuff
1:32 it’s good to know that I’m not the only klutz in the world. I did the same kind of thing when I was about nine years old, but I was carrying my train locomotive engines (3) on top of my school textbook…
all broke.
wow never seen this before i cant believe the speed of them cars its an amazing hobby by the looks.
We had a place like this open up back in 1982, Florence, Alabama. I went in Army and never seen it again. It is gone now.
Really cool seeing all the different cars and types of people Into it. I gotta see some different style races the drag ones are highly uneventful for me lol
I like this. I remember the
HO/AFX tracks and cars. There are a couple of tracks here in Vegas l need to check out. Thanks for the memories
I remember those tracks from the mid 60s
What? No burnouts? It's great to see the participation.
So cool!
I remember s place just like that in Branson Missouri circa 1967 . and another one in Osage beach Missouri was identical to fast eddies
Thank you Mr Simmons! Took me back to much better time! God Bless!
B and J RACEWAY in Westmont NJ was our spot!!Champion and Mura ruled then...
The drag strip had a breaker box..you flipped the switch everybody got the same start.
Also had a 220' track with 1 bank...and a figure 8 with a bank at each end...
Love it!
I wish they would explain some of this. Light tree... they go on green or yellow? How come left and right lights are different? What is at end of track to stop cars? Etc etc
I got the tensed up muscles watching the drag racers coming of the line . Might as well been in the drivers seat . Great Hobby , Hope I does well .
Thanks for the video I had no idea that kinda hobby existed
Great video, Thanx.
This looks like a lot of fun.
Wow. I had no idea these cars looked so good. For some reason I thought they were dorky looking
Wow that place is awesome I'd get into that if we still had one around we had one in Hadley when I was a kid
slot cars... man i lived in these places after school... sydney Australia... only had a 26D,, never could afford a group 20 or group 11 muira.
This what I would call budget racing
I remember the slot car's I still have mine had it 4 years in storage in the up star's of my papa's house they were great as kids didn't even know they still had a place to run thim I live in barbuivill Kentucky know
That was cool!
Stupid question I build 1/24th and 1/25th scale model cars is that what these slot cars are but with electronics in them looks like great fun!!!
I hope you make more slot car drag videos in the future. There are not many on UA-cam and I found this very enjoyable. You could do interviews with Andre and Tippy and get them to talk about their cars.
There most certainly will be more, once the colder weather sets in :)
Looking forward My Friend!
It’s funny...I’m also much more active with the slot car hobby in the Fall/Winter months too. And you can tell Fast Eddie that your videos helped earn him a sale. I purchased a Drag Car from Eddie’s EBay listing because I saw his shop featured on your videos! Maybe a commission is due? LOL.....also... You might make Tippy and Andre UA-cam stars as well! LOL.
Best Wishes to you and looking forward to this Fall’s releases.
Kind Regards,
Pat
I'd like to do a good interview with Fast Eddie too, I'll start things off with that if he's up to it :) Thanks!
That would be cool! Maybe He can explain racing and the setup to any newbies that would be watching. I think a lot of people are interested but just don’t know how to get started or how it’s done.
I live in a major city in So Cal and I still have to drive a good 1 1/2 hrs to run my drag cars on a decent strip. Maybe your videos will help spawn more interest in this hobby. I also do 1/32 vintage 1955 scale racing which is fun too.
I opened a slot in GA. WITH A QUARTER MILE 155 BLUE KING ROUND TRACK. MY CUSTOMERS SOLD MORE MERCHANDISE THAN ME only lasted 3 years. RACERS PLEASE BUY ALL YOU CAN FROM YOUR SHOP OWNER HELP KEEP YOU A PLACE TO RACE !
Great post!
Yep I had a lot of fun with a hard body and a top fuel motor running drops..skipping the glue and smacking the net at 85!!
when i was a boy i had a slot car track..it had a dune buggy and some purple car?..i was only 5 or 6 so i dont remember..it was also in the early 1970's also.

It's great to be grown up kid 😆
Not going to lie, laughed prettty hard after that dude threw his car after being all happy and smiley about it ( why was he holding it like that?? 😆 )
I had to stop the video xd
I love fast Eddie's!!!
Hi Eddie! This is Jon with that American model Turnpike big-ass slot car track! I'm going to be up there in a couple days and I'm bringing some vintage cars
Cool race track
In the early '60s I made a model of Ed Roth's Mysterion and took it to our local slot car drag track. I had about 4 runs and completely smoked all comers, then got out of there before anyone found out I had a 6 volt motor in it.
Lol that’s funny
😎 Cool
The sound of electric drag racing.
Looks like same motor as when I did this 🤫🤔1967, an for while
Nice🏁
*"It didn't fall"* lmaooooo
THANKS FOR THE COVERAGE... WISH YOU HAD GOTTEN THE ENTIRE RACE...
But that Maroon Foxbody though! 👍👍👍
That flyer said February 2rd. 🤣. Don’t know why that caught my eye but it sure as hell did lol
Good job, Edward 👍
Mr. Moto Thanks!
