Nice project specially knowing how much you love 12valve…suggestion fleece coolant bypass and bumping timing to 18 to 20 degrees? And a valve cover to plumb blow by into a bottle keep driveway clean but either way cool project. And Merry Christmas to you and the wife and two little ones exciting times
That first truck is like your 94 year old grandmother that's been smoking a pack a day for 70 years. Looks like hell on the outside, but somehow, that old hearts still ticking away like the day she was born 😂
Squarebody chev with a 12v cummins and mansmission, it doesn't get any better than that, thats a great combo right there, ultimate reliability and dependability. My first vehicle was an 84 K30 m1008 ex mil. Always wanted to cummins swap it, now i have my 12v cummins swapped 91 squarebody suburban. No regrets, awesome combination. Great content as always, happy new year to you all from a bunch of your followers here in the U.K.
There can be huge difference in cost depending on what you want and can do yourself. If you got a decent donor truck and can fabricate it might not cost much more than the donor truck. Or the sky’s the limit. I had to rebuild my motor and I also did a bunch of other stuff. I’m at around $10,000 into the swap.
Merry Christmas to the W.O.T Family. The same goes for you Josh and to your family as well. To rest of you, filthy animals have a great Christmas and a safe New Year's!
Whats not to love a 12 valve and a square body! I have a 12valve nv4500 swapped in my 2005 chevy 2500hd 4x4 still has the push button transfer case i have all the guages and everything working except cruise and the ac wich the ac is coming this spring i have 30,000 miles on the swap so far and its pulled all sorts of stuff shes my daily absolutely love it! Swap
" whatever pathetic slush box is in that truck" those military trucks came with a turbo 400.. actually a good trans. I would rather have the NV though for sure.
Love it . I did my v30 this summer to a k30 and a 12v and next summer I aiming for 500-600 street truck I love it. Nice to see you on a 12v . Tx from Sweden
It’s amazing I see so many trucks falling apart around a cummmins motor. Just change the oil regularly and get a million mile machine. Or more depending how dedicated you are
I'm curious what you will do about the front springs, even with a 454 there was never a square body with an engine CLOSE to the weight of that 12v! Cool swap non the less, I saw my first square/ 12v conversion back in 2003, in Northern Idaho.. 2wd, flatbed, used to tow trailers of scrap by the local wrecking yard :)
Terrible. Why would you ever decide to swap a 12v in place of the 6.2 Detroit? I love my 6.2. Most reliable, powerful, best fuel economy and cheap readily available parts you can't beat that.

Got some parts coming for sure!

Yes sir. This will be a fun series!
This definitely is a SHTF truck to get you through the end of the world scenario. Going to be one bad MOFO for sure.
Just Here To See All The 12 Valve/2nd Gen Hate!!! Great Video Josh!!!

Just a lil surface rust...it'll buff out.
I swapped a 12v into my 86 Chevy squarebody about 2 years ago. It’s been a blast to drive around and was a fun project
How much did it cost

Having no experience with engine swaps, how hard would it be to swap a 12 valve into a 1989 chevy caprice?
I've got a 79' blazer that's getting a 12v cummins swap eventually/soon. Ready to see this series so I know what I'm in for.
Looks like a great project Josh looking forward to seeing how it progresses. Merry Christmas to you and your family God Bless
Really cool swap to do! I'm swapping my VE 12 valve from my 92 W250 into my 88 Ramcharger.
Merry Christmas to the W.O.T Family. The same goes for you Josh and to your family as well. To rest of you, filthy animals have a great Christmas and a safe New Year's!
Heck yeah brother 👍☝️🇺🇸

That Cummins shipping crate was ripe for harvest
Always love the 12valve, simple reliable!
450rwhp 12v on stock head bolts is begging for a blown head gasket in my experience.
Not really hell I ran compound turbos making 70lbs of boost for 2 years on stock head bolts before the headgasket let go. Truck has 498000 miles on it
We finally talked him into studs
Josh, thrilled to see this build! glad your getting over that Krud! Merry Christmas to y' all !
majestic 12v swap fkn mint love it
Dang man I have a 2017 6.7 Cummins getting a flat bed this year next I plan to have you do my trans possibly fuel system
Let us know

It is only 200lbs heavier so not really an issue. The truck rated plenty to handle it.
We shall see it's my first one!
Is it a 12 valve if it doesn't leak?
A truer statement could not be made

His choice!
Dang Josh you must be hungry having to touch a poverty pump truck😂JK! But definitely fitting with the current times now😢.
It's a weekend project. We do not need anymore shop work 😂 it's a daily struggle of falling further behind
I know it, love the Cumminsnchevy swaps esp since I have put 4 12 valves in 4 different chevys😂
