My family hunted the hill country for decades, mostly in Gillespie county, my brother now hunts in mason county. I bought a place in Coleman County a few years back, it’s a lot like the mason area. There’s nothing like hunting the Texas hill country.
We had a good opening weekend in Coleman county, my grandson took his first buck with a bow, it rough scored 138”, with a 19 3/4” spread. We took two old cull bucks, and another 41/2 year old eight point.
@@TheRealOutdoors Thanks. My grandson will probably make pope and young. He took his first deer with a bow in October, a doe, but his first buck with a bow was a dandy, I bow hunted a lot of years and maybe seen just one close to that while hunting.
Couldn’t think of anyone I’d want to enjoy the Real Outdoors or a hunting trip with than you, Tim. 1 deer or 10 deer, it’s all about the excitement and joy of the hunt. Great video my man.
Jeez!! For a 2.5-3yr old buck, I mean it’s my opinion. Would have let him walk another 2-3yrs to fully mature. I get it, it’s the hill country, if you of fed some supplement feed with minerals, he would have been a stud. Woulda coulda, shoulda! 🤦♂️

I had two bucks I was hunting this past season and I got the main one I wanted, I was surprised because all we had of him was night pictures.

Not sure which of the 2 bucks you’re referring to, but they both aged out at 5.5
