Hello, today I was filming a cooking video.. when the time came to put the food on the plate my overhead camera lens steamed up and the final shot was ruined.. do you have any tip to avoid this? should I use a small fan to blow the steam away from the lens?

Yes, a small fan close to the lens and if possible use a zoom lens so you can get the camera as far from the steaming hot food as possible and still get the shot you're looking for. Note sometimes, depending on the dish, you may have to let it cool off. The viewer doesn't know it isn't hot if you just showed a shot of it coming out of the oven for example.

Black Wrap is one of those tools you think you don't need until you use it, then you try to remember how you ever lived without it... :)

Nail on the head. I discovered team members of a client of mine were using them, not for video though (they're a software company) but to prevent sensors they were working on from detecting lights they triggered certain responses. It's the only material they found that worked. Black wrap and grip stands in every house I say.
