Yo yo can you guys relate? Btw this is just my story not what everyone goes through. All i cared about back then was impressing girls and showing off to guys. I feel like a lot of dudes nowadays are like that. Don't dress for girls, just express who you are with your sense of style. Follow me on IG if you haven't already bit.ly/JohnnyInsta :)
Yeah, my phases are reversed tho. Growing up in Cali, I started of with the cholo streetwear style. Now I’m opting for more fitted clothing bc I’m shorter and thinner than average and I think it suits me more. I’m also at the point where I’m experimenting, developing my own tastes, and opinions on style.
I can definitely relate to this, at beginning of last year I entered high school and the only thing I cared about was impressing others and I dressed like a basic kid wearing fitted pants and shirts (adidas, nike, champion) usually wearing big logos to show off. People complimented me or whatever but I felt way too basic, so I decided to wear different shit. I already had a big foundation of knowledge on fashion and streetwear but I never followed it until the beginning of this year lol. Now my style is much more personal and I actually feel like I’m dressing for myself
I'm not into streetwear anyway but I'm 17 and I kinda like the casual styles and I WATCH YOUR CHANNEL FOR THE MESSAGE YOU GIVE. Your message regarding style is great.♥️🙏🏼
I can relate 100 percent. I feel like I’m still dressing for validation but at the same time I’m trying to transition into that phase where I don’t care about people’s opinions and just do me
Man, I'm in that fitted phase hard, however I'm slowly warming up to looser clothing. As of now for me it's skinny fit or slim fit (especially the pants), skinny to match the white sneakers, and slim for the street sneakers like Jordans n shit. But regarding this video, this is probably the best one you've had to date imo. Second best vid is that color blocking vid which is amazing and 80% of what I see on Instagram is just people matching black and white. Acknowledging your ignorance helps the progression for your own style, and self for that matter. I swear I saw the most unlimited potential in this channel of yours, and now it seems like you're tapping into that potential. Good stuff once again and hopefully I get to meet you on Saturday if the crowd isn't horrendously overpopulated. Knowing that it's in Fairfax though I'm sure it will be.
I'm still at the beginning of my transformation and lean towards more menswear but started via streetwear and sneaker culture and watching UA-camrs like you, Christian and Richie le help a lot so thanks and keep up the great work.
Lmao you basically described 90% of mens wear youtube in that one sentence, "one main takeaway from watching any of these videos... FITTED CLOTHES" 😂🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
I just went from being a hypebeast for 3 years to now smart street wear From just rockin bape, stussy, supreme ,Jordan’s. To now just oversize boxy shirts , turtlenecks ,over size flannels, Uniqlo cropped ankle pants, checkered pants, doc martens etc plain dad caps and fisherman beanies.. found I could mix em well too swapping out the boxy t shirts with with a vintage t shirt or with a hype small logo print t shirt, or swapping in the Gucci shoes every now and then . but hey bro I feel you with the trends part that’s the thing with being a hypebeast sets a limits to the creativity of oneself and really shows you how big fashion can really be
Damn, u basically just described my whole fashion phase. Now I'm still abit stuck in the hype trend but slowly leaning out of it and just wearing what I'm comfortable in and wearing an outfit that I think is good, one that impresses me not an outfit to impress others.
I am still relatively learning more about fashion. Granted I have clothes that fit me pretty well. But when I was in middle school and high school yeah sure I was a tall kid but I remembered outgrowing a lot of my clothes and sometimes had a couple nice clothes and some still boring old clothing. I now most of the time shop for my own clothes that fits my style but also making sure it fits me just right. I remembered in high school when I had Levi's 550 bootcut and Levi's straight cut jeans but only 1 pair of skinny and 1 pair of slim fitting jeans only because my mom bought them for me. Then at some point around senior year that's when I bought myself some well fitting jeans for my slim physique.
I feel you so much in this video man, I was just like only FITTED CLOTHES but I finally went away from that trend and found my own personal style that suits me 😁
I've gone through a few phases. At first, I didn't care, from when I was a kid to like junior year. I started out going for that streetwear look, but I did it all wrong. After I got to senior year, it improved a little bit but then I got into hats and it was cool for a little while but I got sick of it. The first semester of college was kind of a mixed bag, but it got better. Now it's like a mix of streetwear and western wear and I'm really happy
@@FlyWithJohnnyThai I honestly did care when I first really tried but now I don't give a damn lmao also, cool that you replied! ive been watching you a while now! like legit your shit is dope man, keep it up
I understand your point, I have a kind of similar experience but tbf I think that for people that are getting out of the 'ignorant phase' starting with menswear is the best option as it kinda teaches you the basics of fashion and then you can find your own style.
Great video and a very important message, trends come and go amd sometimes return again. Its good to be flexible but to be comfortable with what you wear
I have been into fitted clothes since i was 15. I am now 41. Always loved fitted clothes i have never changed. The only baggy thing i owned was those button up nike tracksuit pants (like the adidas one). Thats it.
I still dress kinda alternative with stuff like leather/military looking jackets, flannels or sweaters, band/gaming tees, super tight spray on skinny jeans (which I prefer darker colors now), and Vans, Converse, Doc Martens, but I also do like running shoes such as Nike and Adidas due to comfort.
Omg Anchorblue 🤣 Everyone and their momma loved that store hahah LOVE THIS VIDEO JOHNNY! I’m so proud of you! Great seeing not only your style but you as a person growing and evolving! Nothing but amazing things ahead for you! 😊👍🏻
I like to switch up my styles every week. If i feel lazy I’ll go with business casual or fitted clothing. If I get bored or run out of fitted clothes I switch to streetwear. BUT... occasionally I will incorporate both sides and create my own style, something out of the norm.
Ngl. The outfits u didn't like, I just got some more outfit inspiration for. I'm currently into a little bit of both menswear and streetwear. I just wanna wear clothes that make me stand out and feel confident. Tbh, we can't just blend in when we were all born to stand out
I used to love fitted clothes only because it looks good on me but some oversized pieces seem to look good too. I am a dapper and streetwear guy. I dress dapper but i love sneakers . I agree dress your own way but you should practice on how to do it and learn stuff along the way. Just have variety and make sure it actually suits you.
As we grow up our styles change same thing too. I still like the distressed jeans look and some fitted clothes but not the overly distressed look with the shirts and jeans
100% I’m still a beginner but you got the “Scarlxrd look” of just throwing random straps, bungee cords, etc without really adding function to the fit. It’s aesthetics driven vs. actual technical wear is technical and functional. Materials matter, pockets/straps actually have a function instead of just for the look and yeah you can go deep down the rabbit hole lol
0:55 ooh you think thats bad Me at 7th grade: gray t-shirt with yellow angry bird in it, some gray adidas running shoes with neon green stripes and some joggers from market
I'm of the "fitted clothes" mindset but only because I'm kind of tall and skinny, and I've never liked the way baggy clothes tend to drape off of my body. But this was an interesting watch as somebody who's kind of followed a similar path in fashion evolution 👍
Everyone has what they like and that’s all that matters. If you’re gonna try new styles do it because you’re curious not because it’s going to impress people 👍
