If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,

My wife has a salon and offers in person training for 5k, and 7500k for 1 on 1. It's 3 days long. She holds usually one per month with 2-3 girls in each class. We went to NYC for a 2 day training for her at 4k with a guy who's big in her niche - and he had 150 girls in there, and she said his training was unorganized and pretty bad overall. Shes built a nice organic following of real people who engage. She got her ig hacked and built the new one up twice as large - so I'm definitely trying to nudge her into marketing much harder into the training in larger class sizes. We're in Austin so I think UT and Texas state would be a great place to focus on. Particularly the undergrad girls with undecided majors.
What Kind of salon she has?

It doesn't make sense though. He's talking about starting a skool page, but you already need a business to know how to teach anyone. Nobody in this boat would be using skool to make their first dollar. If your starting a skool page and you haven't already made your first dollar, how is that not a scam?

goated comment!
Well the titel has changed :)
Thank you for walking through the process of investing with a specific example while also not sounding like a sellout. That is a fine line to walk, and Alex nailed it!
Just to nitpick lol, The two guys that Alex mentioned who partnered with an influencer. That guy initially only had 6k followers not 50k (Which makes it that much more impressive) I loved this video and I am actually going to reach out to my first influencer today! Thank you for the tremendous value Alex and Skool ROCK!!!
What did the influencer promote
I like when u make simple vid like this then Boom bang shang dang all effects and edits. Just You and Raw Talk throughing gems.
Accessible and democratized education is the biggest hope to take humanity to the next level! No doubt that this will help and change many lives.
Hey alex out of curiosity. Have you tried blending your skool structure with a traditional school system. Instead of coaching class its a teacher per certain amount of students. This will require alot of teachers but a class of 20 for example you can incentivize top teachers and reward them for improving performance also every student will be aquired by acquisition eventually growing exponentially by referals and students
Yes, finally a video in the right order. Not "make a $ million dollars from 0", but start with the first step and move forward.
I know right?
for those who wonder what the main gist of this vid is, here it is: Alex is the best sales person of his own brand/business- in this video he's trying to convince people to go sign up on the skool platform even if they don't have any business idea or a course yet. half of this entire 1 hr video or more is a SALE PROMOTION OF HIS OWN BIZ.
And you're tied to this platform
Okay, for starters, that is just objectively false. There is a huge amount of value to be gained from this video if you actually watch it without the preconceived notion that Alex is trying to sell you something. Secondly, even if Alex was trying to sell us something, at this point, surely the guy can throw a pitch at us for crying out loud. He has given hundreds of hours of free video, thousands of independent testimonials of people who went from zero to at least six figures from his free content alone. But no, you had to ignore all of that and write your little, small, snarky comment about Alex being a good salesman and this video just being a sales pitch for his company. Bravo to you, dude. I think you're going to do very well in the world of business and money-making.
Your literal name should be Skool. Every where you walk you give the keys! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

First time I got close to no value. Misleading title. Still a fan tho.
Is Skool a boring business? Although, I’m definitely impressed with the idea of crossing marketing education/UA-cam/membership -it just doesn’t sit with the broad sweeping comparison to education when we all need highly trained professionals in many fields. Still a fan, just not a gamer.
Now that AI is not optional in private facebook groups-I’m getting why your product is needed.
Getting into the games i felt more behind than i had felt before i had checked it out...i assume this is because i was more optimistically uninformed than I had thought.
I found the platform confusing and I didnt under how people who " hadn't started a business" could actually start one using thes resources...it felt risky to recommend this platform to other people whoch to me seemed liked the inly way to get networked in the games and and that felt intimidating sense iw wasn't able to get results.
Any tips or perspective shifts you can offer to help me understand?
Yeah, I think you just got got. He left out the most important part: You must have an offer.
what Alex did here is almost unbelievable.
If you're starting at ground zero, you should be joining someone else's community to learn some skills, not starting your own.
Universities want you to spend 4 years and $100000 to become a beginner at something.
In this day and age, university in 90% of cases is for people who aren't sure what they want to do. Business, sales, arts, social sciences, project management, HR, IT, etc, etc... none of it requires a degree!
On my list to watch🙏🏼
Hey Alex! Do you think that this would also work for a non-english community? Would love to know. Thanks!
Fantastic! Really...but how can you bring Skool to South Africa?
Honestly, at the current Rand/Dollar exchange rate, no one can afford R 2000/ month when they're trying to make their first rand online. Next month, the rand loses more traction, so it costs even more...
Or is expanding to the African continent not a viable business direction for you?
Most valuable guy on youtube
By far
Bet they want skool to be the next social media
Is there anything coming with Skool for customisable branding like Kartra? Premium service providers can like to carry over their branding to their platforms as people are paying high ticket and skool has quite colourful playful branding. (Not sure if this is provided already). Thanks!
Thanks Alex this is fun knowledge!

Every Hormozi video is the same: he starts off very simple and then suddenly detours into business jargon and million dollar companies. Not everyone got a BA at Vanderbilt. Very out of touch. How about a video for starting entrepreneurs who have nothing? That's 99% of your audience by the way, hate to break it to you.
Love how the title went from "Rich Businessman Explains New Way to Make Your First $1" to "What I'd Do to Start a New Business In 30 Days"
The first title was off brand.

Now THIS is the content we need: Zero flashy effects. No jump cuts. I LOVE the part where he slowly walked back to the chair and motioned the camera down, no cut. God that got me fired up. I wish he would just take off his flannel, then his tank top, but ever so slowly. Then his shorts, then the final reveal. Uncut, just raw content. God this gets me fired up for business.

I don’t think they are far away. Skool is much better concept.
Imagine hating on Alex hormozi 😂
They don't have the backing of Alex Hormozi
@AlexHormozi I think you're missing something. There's already a company that's disrupted formal education and where everyone goes to learn stuff. It's called UA-cam. Case in point - was just watching this UA-cam video the other day about this kid in Africa who had no access to coaching or formal education, learned some skills on UA-cam, practiced and honed them to perfection in his own backyard, and eventually got himself a spot on the Olympics team. And this is happening in every industry.
UA-cam is informal and doesnt help track progress. It’s good for bite-sized learning and if you’re really motivated it can be a divine source of knowledge, but most need more than random videos to truly grow their abilities.
Compare learning something like math on UA-cam vs. Khan Academy, especially with AI tutoring, it’s another ball game.

If creating more business owners is the goal, the smart thing would be to create a way for people to start a business at zero cost, but you take a large percentage of their eventual income. Skool is only going to attract hustlers who make courses, but that’s
First you write on the homepage that it is free to test for 14 days. All right, you confidently place your email address in your hands. But then you get to the point where you HAVE to enter a credit card number and pay $99 a month. To then as you say, 30.44% were at least able to get $1 out of it. I think that's the worst offer for your fans you've ever put out. I have both of your books, and I understand that you want to make money with it, but then you shouldn't advertise it like it's for everyone, but maybe say in your promotional video that it's only for people with credit cards and it's $99 a month. Really disappointing I have to admit. I recommended it to over 15 of my friends until I signed up myself as I am a big fan of yours, but every one of my friends came to me with the same disappointment.... when they were asked to enter a credit card number before they had even seen any content about what they would have to do.
So then just cancel the trial you dork 😂
You’ll get it! Keep trying
Am I the only one seeing that the title is absolute clickbait. I have gone through 33 minutes of video and not once did I hear mention of what Alex would do to start a new business. And if he is implicitly recommending to start a community as the best idea for new business, boy how far have we fallen.
This was the first business I ever tried building. I had the EXACT same idea as Sam. I decided to change direction, and I'm glad I did. There is no way I could have outcompeted Skool with Hormozi backing it. 😆

I think online education has its own space in the market forsure but i dont feel like it will disrupt in-person universities and colleges like you might expect. An attractive quality that i think a lot of people nowadays go to in-person school for is the immersive experience and memories that people make along their educational journey. Isnt that what lifes all about? Making memories youll remember. Its fairly well known now that a college education does not mean what it used to mean 20 30 years ago, yet ppl are still sending their kids to college. I personally went through two years worth of classes during zoom covid and i cant tell you one memorable moment, it felt like a blur and it was hard to connect and make meaningful relationships w fellow students online. Thats why ill prefer getting an in person edu > online. What do you guys think?
I agree with your assessment regarding "higher" education. I went to school for engineering but since the school decided too many people were in the class in the last year, they arbitrarily decided half of us were not going to graduate. There was nothing we could do. No amount of work no amount of extra work no amount of anything would make a difference. The only things that made a difference is if you were previously an engineer in everything but the title, you were a math over genius, you "shared" your work which was not allowed typically, or if you outright cheated and your Daddy's company donated to the school then you were safe from getting in trouble. For real this happened. There's no legal recourse, the dean refused to see me, the vice Dean blew Sunshine up my backside and tried to convince me to enroll in another program. Most of the instructors didn't care and some of them really just hated people I think.
I advise everyone to AVOID post secondary education because it's a rip off!
That's just insane! Wow. What school is that?
I’m 30 mins in and nothing of value said yet except why he invested and thinks Skool is the future. Should I finish watching?
With many now saying why learn when you've got the internet or AI, keep in mind that gen z is the first generation in history to have a lower IQ than the previous generation. Why do you think there is a growing disconnect with outliers and greater number of people following crowd attachment.

The challenge here is "certifications." If you figure out this model and being able to have a great certification process for people who have learned a skill business or engineering as an example, this education stuff will take off.

So long as your numerator is bigger than your denominator, you'll double. There's nothing magic about 2/1, it's just your growth rate. 10/1 will also double, but faster. 1.1/1 will also double, but slower.
If you're growing 10% MoM, it'll take ~7.4 months to double.
