I love your Skiathos vids...I've flown a few times with Jet2 and i've found them very professional and very friendly..I would have flown with the venerable 757 to MAN but the virus messed things up..Hopefully next year..I have bought their 757 and 737 plane models..beautiful! Thanx Phil..here's to more videos of your trips soon! Do you have a channel with other airlines and trips too? P.S. I tried Wizz too..They are a tad better than Ryanair and their A321s Neo and not,are very nice as long as you know where to sit 'cause the seat-pitch can be knee-crunching!
Thanks Mario, this was my first time with Jet2 and I was very happy with the flight so will definitely be travelling with them again in future :) The 757 is an awesome aircraft, I have had the pleasure in working on them back during my flying career. I am looking at travelling with Wizz in the near future, of course everyone's travel plans have been disrupted this year with myself having 3 trips cancelled. I do have some other trip reports to publish soon though from last year :)
Really enjoy your Trip Reports. Getting me right in the mood before we go to Corfu next month with TUI. Must say though, I’m not looking forward to using the new Manchester Airport T2, hate not knowing where everything is, not to mention the nostalgia factor completely being destroyed. Ah well. Any Trip Reports coming from you this Summer?
Thanks Nathan, I'm glad you enjoyed watching it :) I have got a few trip reports to publish including another trip to Skiathos with Jet2 from later on last year, Dublin to Manchester with Aer Lingus and Atlanta to Manchester on a Virgin Atlantic 747. I had held off putting them up for a few reasons, might get them finished :) I was supposed to be going to Skiathos next week but have had to cancel, hoping to be doing a new route in October :) I'm sort of looking forward to visiting the new T2, I've been to one of the new piers but the rest of the terminal was pretty much normal. I've heard that it's changed a lot now with the old part just being used for the gates with all of the facilities open in the new part. Have a good trip :)
Excellent presentation and very informative. its just a pity that the planes used by Jet 2 at the time of this video didnt offer any inflight entertainment as nearly 4 hours can be a hard sit with no recline of things to occupy your mind.
Thanks Les, I don't think any of their aircraft have in-flight entertainment (it has been a few years since I've travelled with them). I like that the seats don't recline, from a crew perspective I find it stops arguments and confrontations and from a passenger perspective I do get fed up when the guy in-front tries to recline it so their head is practically in my lap :/
It's good that Jet2 did more than one food & drinks service. When we flew with TUI last month they only did one service so we had to buy all our drinks at once. After seeing your videos of Jet2 we may consider using them in the future as we'll be using Manchester airport after moving house. Also, it was interesting to hear you mention flying over Stalybridge as I lived there for a few years.
It's very odd about TUI, I used to fly for First Choice (among others) and we would have been doing as many drinks services as possible, at least two on a Skiathos flight (even a night one). Thomas Cook were the same, at lest two :) I always try and work Stalybridge into a script, I used to visit every Saturday when I was younger (back when we had "proper" trains I'd ride from Victoria up and back trying to score locos), small world and all that ;) I'm glad that I may have helped, thanks :)
@@ExpoAviation TUI did more than one service pre-Covid, but it was interesting to see that even in these strange times Jet2 are doing a more normal service. We're hoping that when we fly next year things will be better, and will be flying from Manchester for the first time since I was a kid.
@@TravelAnorak Ah I'm with you now. Yes, aside from the restrictions on queuing for the loo and having to wear facemasks it was a normal flight. I also did this route again at the end of September and it was pretty much the same. I think we are all hoping that next year will be better :) Ringway has changed a lot even over the past 10 years, with even more changes in progress, hopefully you will like it :)
Thanks Jay, Greece sure is a fantastic place - that's why I keep going back :) - also apologies for the late reply, I must have missed your comment at the time.
The stop over on the mainland varies on a few things, the aircraft type, route and passenger load. A 757 to London or Manchester can do it non-stop but a 737 needs a splash & dash on the mainland unless the load is quite light. The travel agencies or websites will normally mention a fuel stop at the time of booking just in case on the day one is required, they did that with this flight when we booked it but were able to fly non-stop. The thing to consider with the fuel stop is if you have a taxi booked or onward travel arranged as you could arrive a few hours early :) As for the passenger numbers being capped, I have no info on that at the moment. Have a good trip :)
@@ExpoAviation Ahh okay. Was thinking to go from Stansted with Jet2, I just thought due to covid there would be no stop over (as not as many people travelling). Either way I don’t mind 😂. thank you :)
Thank you, they are one of the largest airlines in the UK but have expanded even more over this past year. Around half of the fleet are silver and red "Jet2" with the other half painted like this one as "Jet2 Holidays". Yes the airport is rather small but around the right size for a Greek Island of this size, the holiday flights are only during the summer season with just a daily shuttle to Athens over winter going from the other terminal. This terminal has recently been redesigned, I'm split 50/50 on if it was worth it as there have been some improvements but some downgrades too :/
Jet2 also do City Break trips to New York every Winter, usually around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Although I doubt they’ll do it this year, due to how bad the Covid-19 situation is in the States.
They do indeed, it is a shame that they didn't do them year round though it is understandable why they didn't. It would be unfortunate if they don't do them this year but like you, I reckon they won't operate them this winter. Hopefully they will be back to NYC next year :)
Another excellent vlog phil... just wondering if you could vlog yourselves going to the airport, waiting to board , and the boarding itself, always the most exciting part of flying in my opinion... kp up the gd gd work boss.....
Thanks Thomas I appreciate your comment. I am looking at doing something along those lines in future, I do try and cover boarding but as I am using a phone camera rather than a "go-pro" which I can clip onto a hat it can be tricky. I did manage something similar for an upcoming review of my flight with Aer Lingus :)
Yes they have, they are currently waiting on further developments regarding our government's traffic light system. It is currently at Amber and as far as I am aware Jet2 will not fly to Amber destinations as they do not want to force people to choose between a holiday with quarantine on return or loosing their money. It's very respectable from Jet2 :)
@@ExpoAviation definitely I totally agree Let’s keep fingers crossed that Greece gets put on the green list in the next government viewing Jet 2 have cancelled all holidays and flights until the 1st of July So hopefully by then Greece will be on green and then the first Jet2 flights will be coming on on the 2nd of July which is a Friday 😊✈️
I was beaten to the answer there :) The four "Monarch-Cook" A321s have gone over to Jet Blue, one had been held back due to the situation but was delivered last month :)
Expo Aviation it feels very strange knowing Thomas cook is no longer with us after years and years of service. Glad you had a good experience with jet 2 never flown with them before
I find it ironic that UK citizens are put through such thorough security upon returning to the UK yet how many undocumented immigrants are allowed in with absolutely nothing done as far as security screening for them?

Looks like an amazing place - so much bigger and more impressive than I imagined. Thanks!
It's a great Island, I've been going at least once a year for 6 or 7 years now :)
Beautiful views of Skiathos, nicely captured. Hope I get to visit Greece one day.

Such a great and detailed trip report. The flight surely seems pretty nice actually, not bad for a low cost carrier 👍
Thank you :) Yes they were quite good, I look forward to travelling with them again :)
nice trip report! There seems to be only you and one more pax, wasn't it. The service was OK compare to other low cost carriers
Thanks, it was quite a good trip and comparable to any other charter flight I've been on in the past few years :)
Nice report man!
Thank you :)
Really nice report mate! Such awesome views
Jaweria Api
Thank you, I appreciate that :)
Great video! Very informative as normal :) Skiathos flights currently capped at 136 PAX so they don't need to stop off in Thessaloniki :)
