Fiat Dino Spyder - A Ferrari powered Fiat
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 сер 2020
- The Fiat Dino was created because Ferrari needed to Homologate their newly developed V6 racing engine, designed for the Ferrari 206SP. The Dino name refers to the fact the engine comes from Ferrari's Dino V6 engine, they were produced by Fiat and used to achieve the production numbers needed so Ferrari could homologate the engine for it to be eligible for Formula 2 racing.
Ferrari used the engine in the Dino 206 GT and the 246 GT/S street cars. They were Enzo Ferrari’s tribute to his late son, Dino, who helped design the engines. The homologated engine was used by Fiat in a new, sporty front engined Fiat model that also carried the Dino name.
The early Fiat Dino had 2.0-liter alloy blocks, while later cars had the 2.4-liter steel block, both had a 5 speed manual transmission. for a small 2.0 litre V6 the perfomance was amazing., The Fiat Dino spyder is capable of 0-60 mph in 7 seconds and a top speed of 130MPH. The Fiat Dino was offered as a coupe or a spider, designed by both Bertone and Pininfarina, respectively. Fiat produced the Dino from 1966 to 1973, during which time 7,803 examples were produced. with only 420 of them being spyders.

I prefer the Coupe but the Spyder looks beautiful in that colour.
The colour makes it! Beautiful.
That exhaust note is delightful!
Another great video. Really enjoy learning all of the history of all of these cars.
Beautiful car. Thank you.
Thank you 4 doing this show
Favourite Car so far. Beautiful. Another great vid. Loved the new editing too thanks 😁👍
Thank you. Glad you are enjoying the videos. More to come!
Really really excellent work here - this is becoming my go to fix for rpm shifting enthusiasm. Go Colleen!
Sweet! Glad to hear it! Many more videos to come. Always something new.
Amazing restoration....Gorgeous color. Learning a lot on your channel, thanks 🚙💨🤙
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoy the videos
Amazing car! Waiting for an Alfa Romeo on the channel.
These Fiats are magical
Sounds so sublime!
i had so much fun driving this car. its zippy and just a blast to drive.
Lovely car, one of the many cute sportscars made by Fiat around the 60s and the 70s. I own two Fiat 128 Sport Coupe with a very reliable engine designed by Aurelio Lampredi, who worked on the Dino V6 too. This Spider is a real jewel!
And i owned a Fiat Dino 2.4 Coupe in the late Seventies which gave me so much fun. But this convertible version looks very cool as well👍.
Love the Horn ! Great video.
Thanks. The horn is one of my fatorite things lol
Ferraris Online It truly is the little details like that that endear me to Italian cars. Beautiful classic. Beautifully presented. Just discovered your channel a short time ago. Can’t wait to see more. All the best :)
You should do a video about the FIAT1970s Spyder 2000 Pinifariarina. Beautiful car!
Sorry ‘Pininfarina’
Targata NAPOLI...madonna che bellezza ..cheers from CANADA
Great Video!
Thanks!
About the horn ... Rules in Italy and Europe are such that cars require City and Highway horn tones ... The city mode being obviously more quiet than the highway mode
Another great video in every way, thanks🤗
Love that horn sound thing, I had no idea. I wonder what the thought process was behind that🤔
"Excuse me i need to get by" and "get out of my way i have to pee" lol
@@FerrarisOnline lol, I drive down into Italy every year after a week at lemans. Your right in thr fact that everyone is driving everywhere fast 😂 Always using there horns and hand gestures 😂
No matter what car your in, you will get a small hatch back flashing you out of the way on the auto strada.
Town and country settings. Nowadays it would be integrated with the exhaust flaps.
Never seen one with a removable hard top before, was hoping you’d explain something about that. Otherwise another great video!
It was a rare option forgotvto cover it :(
The first horn mode was for city driving and the second mode was for driving in the country. Many vintage Bentley and Rolls Royce have town and country horns.
Lambkrghinis and other makes aswell. Whenever we see the horn button it puts a smile on our face.
Love the history of the Brand and each car. Which is your favorite
Really look forward these fantastic reviews
Thanks! 👍 i cant pick favorites. lol
@@FerrarisOnline I think I would have that very same problem is there a good book you can recommend on them covering history and all the cars?
Honestly its hard to pic just one. We have an extensive library in our showroom and we refrence different books often.
A bit weird when you see a constant moving Dino but hear the sound of acceleration. May I suggest you match sound with film?
I love a Fiat Dino, pref a Coupe I think. A late 2.4 with individual rear suspension.
This Spider hard-top is prob pretty rare!
It really sounds like you love this cat, makes the video so much more fun. When a pretty girl calls a car adorable, it;s a winner!
That is one gorgeous spider - anyone know the name and code of that amazing blue paint colour? And is it an orignal fiat colour?
Back in the mid 80's, my "dope man" had a hardtop version (not sure if it ran, though). The one thing I remember about the car was the dual city/highway horn. Only in Italy, right?
Beautiful, and that blue again, do you know the colour name?
Alfa Romeo Montréal would be interesting when you get a mo!! 😂👍🇬🇧
It has a town and country horn arrangement.
Love the video,
Do you know if these hard tops are produced somewhere (nowadays), or if someone sells it ??
Unfortunatly i have no idea. Best of luck in your search.
I found one.. in Germany in 2011 in perfect condition.. made by pininfarina (not a copy of which there are some) I drove from Ireland to Germany to collect it. Try Googling fiat Dino hardtop every so often you might get lucky eventually 🍀
Thi is the best UA-cam Chanel.. When will Lancia rallye cars
Slightly less than 1150 2.0 aluminum block spiders produced compared to 420 of the 2.4 iron block spiders were produced.
And the Lotto doesn’t want anything to do with me ....otherwise we would be speaking formally about this Fiat Dino
I owned a Fiat Spider and it ran ok most of the time. But the old joke was ….”The name Fiat stood for Fix It Again Tony!!”
when you switched the horn botton one horn is for city . and one is for highway
The homologation number for the V6 was actually 5000 not 500. But great video, and an awesome little car, although the prices of these are shooting up.....and for good reason.....
wrong...500 was the number
👌
OMG did you recycle the engine sound again and again and again and yet again? WT..... spoilt The feel of the video.
were any Fiat 130`s sold in the U,S.?
✌️
I owned a Dino 246GT for a few years back in the 90's -and whilst it was the 2nd most worst car I have ever had I would buy it again tomorrow!!!!!
These are such beautiful cars, and that example looks significantly better presented than when it left the factory! But those hardtops are rare, and you can see why; utterly horrid and ruins the lines of the car. I would put it somewhere else in the shop and leave the soft top up. That would also preserve the material better than leaving it stowed and creased. As a minor point, although Alfredino had some limited input to what became known as the Dino racing engines of the 1950s, he sadly died 10 years before the Dino road cars came to market and had zero to do with the 206/246 production engines.
Those fenders are so beautiful great beautiful Dino.I agree Pininfarina did a better job than Bertone
The engine was designed by Alfredo Ferrari & Vittorio Jano who had designed engines for Alfa & then built by Fiat, so Ferrari engine?, even Enzo Ferrari said Ferrari engines have 12 cylinders, nothing less. Cosworth tuned & helped design the heads on the V6 Ford Duratec engine but i doesn't make it a Cosworth engine.
👀
I'd prefer the Fiat 2000 Dino( 2.4 engine) coupe every time.
The Fiat Dino 2000, by definition, would have the 2.0L engine, not the 2.4.
Would love to see the car topless!
Let us tow your cars
Is this channel about cars?😜😜
Fiat bought Ferrari in 1968... Important part of This history she forgot to metion.
1969* and the story is much longer than "fiat just bought them"
7:12 Get yourself a pair of new jeans and do your homework...
Ferrari powered fiat? You mean a Fiat powered Fiat. Fiat owns Ferrari by this time.
A Ferrari powered Fiat is like a hot dog that tastes like a filet.......it's still a hot dog.....😂🌞
These engines (even those mounted on the Ferrari Dino 206 and 246) were built by Fiat at Mirafiori Plant, Torino. This Italian brand is not less respectable than others, having produced not only mass production cars but also performance and luxury sportcars. There's a close collaboration between Fiat and Ferrari since 1965.
A Fiat powered Ferrari very nice 👍💪
