*FREE ONLINE WORKSHOP* 👉 How to Help Your Aging Parent with Memory Loss Be Safer (Even If They're Resisting Your Help): 👉 betterhealthwhileaging.mykajabi.com/free-memory-loss-safety-training
Thank you for all your videos they are so helpful to me as a retired nurse and caregiver of 90 year old loving father that recently was transitioned to Assisted Living Facility.
Boy am I glad to have found your channel! First video to watch and I just hit the sub button. Mine isn't an aging parent, it is my husband of 37 years. We married later in life, and he's adopted and does NOT know his health history. My challenges started full force during the pandemic. I used to go to most all his health appointments but no more. We have no children and we live out of state of any immediate family (siblings) we are not particularly close to. Because of my own health concerns, I don't get out much except for walks. So, things are real wacky as of late. And your video gave me a wealth of information. My next challenges are to begin sitting in on his video appointments, and getting the ever growing cocktail of meds that he's on evaluated. And power of attorney thing. God bless you! Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing many more of your videos!

I already sought help with mild for my age hearing loss. The clinician there said to me that wearing a hearing aid wouldn't help because hearing aids are not sophisticated enough yet to help at my level of hearing loss. By the way severe hearing loss in the higher frequencies is so called normal in people over the age of 80. Thankfully I am not willing to wait until then to get regular annual hearing tests. However how can I convince my family doctor that I need them too? Hearing loss can affect short term memory.
Abilify is one of those medications that we would use with caution in older adults. I would recommend talking with your prescribing clinician about your concerns and whether it can be deprescribed, or perhaps reduced in dosage.
