Only 29k people watched this video. Many people missing out on the best lesson yet on how to make 12 bar blues solos sound more interesting. Great chromatic ideas, great phrasing ideas, and players who use the dom 7th arpeggios in their blues solos always sound the best. Thanks for another great video. FYI, I've been a TrueFire all access subscriber for about a year and Corey's lessons are all top notch.
Been playing for almost 30 years (can't believe I just wrote that!!!). For me this is like when Dorothy goes to Oz and now everything is in color. Now I just actually have to sit down and practice. Thanks, again, Papa and Corey!
I'm late to the show but it never gets old. Corey can lay down a phrase with the best of them. His instruction method is top shelf too. Thanks for this.
GUYS!!! This has to be the best how to guitar video that I have come across!!!! The presentation is awesome and the fact that you are really teaching and learning from each other, but also presenting the information to those that are watching. Corp world calls it train the trainer...love it. So much information to be applied from this and implementing this into my playing as I am watching for the second time!!! Keep up the great work!
Since discovering him about two months ago, Corey is quickly becoming one of my favorite players. He is the kind of player that I’ve always wanted to be myself. He’s comfortable in all styles of music yet still has developed his own sound from his myriad influences. I got serious about guitar around age 14 or so, when I saw Alan Jackson’s Austin City Limits show. His guitarist was playing all the Brent Mason stuff from the record and it blew my mind. Dude was a monster and no one knew his name. The search to find out who he was led me down the session guitarist rabbit hole and I’ve been digging it deeper ever since. Nothing has been better for my sideman career than imitating session guys and learning to play multiple styles well. It allowed me to sit in with a blues band, jazz trio, and a classic rock band in the same week and be convincing enough in each to get the call backs. Most of my buddies went chasing a single hero of theirs like SRV, EJ, Slash or whomever else it may have been, and even though a few of them became monster players, they were only monsters in their comfort zones. To each his or her own, but in my opinion the best players on Earth are the guys cutting the records that you don’t hear much about. I rambled off all that nonsense to say that Corey is as complete a player as I have seen and my only gripe with him is that he didn’t show up on my radar sooner. So many licks to cop and not enough time to do it 😂 If you happen to stumble across this Corey, thank you for all the incredible content you freely give to us peasants in this music kingdom 🤘🏼
I’m happy I wrote it if you needed to hear it brother. Happy holidays to you and yours as well, and I’ll give you a shout after the holidays. Be safe and relax before it’s time to kick 2020 square in its a** 🤘🏼.
Amazing arpeggio in dominant 7. Completely different from the usual lessons on pentatonic. It shows the theory that support a great melodic solo. Very much appreciated.
Have worked through a bunch of Corey's Truefire courses, but this was such a wonderful surprise. It's great seeing the two of you going back and forth. I'm off to plug in my guitar and put my arpeggio practice to use now!
Brett, I took a long look at where I'm at as a guitarist and as a guy who has basically learn from records....etc. I decided I wanted to get better since the music landscape has changed. Thank you for the course with Corey. I just purchased it. Again thank you....love
Seriously awesome, Robben Ford type licks, I always wondered what arpeggios Robben is using. Corey and Brett are amazing together, Corey is by far one of the best instructors I've seen on You Tube. thanks for that!
I like that sound too. That triad: Root, 3rd, 5th followed by the b7 in the key of E is the start of "Pretty Woman". Now I see what Roy Orbison did. Sounds sassy! Another useful lesson as always Brett!! It is like mixing major and minor to my ears. Very cool.
Great lesson. Corey really explains things very clearly - makes me feel that this is achievable for me. Corey also seems like he is a really nice and fun guy, and you both seem to complement each other, too; great to watch two humble, but very talented, people enjoying playing together. Many thanks, Brett.
I enjoyed the lesson! The great thing about playing guitar is that you never stop learning. I play for 45 years it's still get excited about learning something new. Thanks for the lesson.
Brad Carlton used that exact same dominant 7 arpeggiation in a Rhythmology series sponsored by D’Adarrio 10 years ago. It was the same chord structures and scale (root, third, fifth, flat seven, etc.). I thought I was going to finally get around to learning how to play some Funky rhythm pieces but Brad was way over my head. I remember thinking back then that maybe one day I finally would figure it out. Well, I still don’t have it figured out but I understand it better now. Brett and several others got me this far, it looks like Mr. Congilio is about to teach us the triads in Blues chord progression. Who knows, maybe this’ll give me the confidence to go back and use Mr. Carlton’s lessons to finally pin down some of those rhythms in Funk! Maybe get some of that Blues to Funk crossover stuff the Kirk Fletcher has mastered.
Hey guys. I never thought of it that way. But you're right we're never satisfied with the way we play. We hear something from someone else and, wow i want to play like that
@@BrettPapa Ok, now I've watched the video and, as I knew I would, I LIKED the f% out of it. This video and the last one you did with Corey are my homework for the next couple weeks. Love it! papa this is what I;ve thought for quite awhile , get rid of the distortion 99% of the time you are practicing, let your hands do the talking, then when playing with others add the OD back in, your hands will really talk and sing
@@coreycongilio it took me playing acoustic guitar only, bring out the expression in my heart and soul. I really like your understanding and use of guitar.
Thanks for demo. On my side, my taste is not for that kind of arpeggios in a Blues context. I feel less is more, few notes, some silences to install a dramatic feel, that's my thing. While I do like the dominant 7th chords, I would not arpeggiate them. Anyway, I like the 2 of you demoing, keep that good time roll 👍
