Teena is a consummate vocal technician; her voice always takes us on an incomparable soulful journey! Performer, arranger, producer, and lyrical genius! No one will ever come close to her!
The concept of 4 women singing the all male classic (and having Pamela Williams blow the sax in place of Barry White's deep baritone voice) was all Teena Marie's idea. She deserves credit for this version of the song rather u like her voice on it or not. But in my opinion, her voice was tailot made for it. It's sexy, sulty, and seductive, while Patti's was powerful and commanding. Great version. All of them were xcellent. RIP Teena, u were a musical pioneer! -DOGG
Teena was a smart musician as well as a producer. She lived this music thing! Could play several instruments. She played keys/piano, guitar, percussion as well as saxophone...YEP!! SEXY SAXY-PHONE!! My AWESOME SISTER LOVING FRIEND whom I had the blessing and opportunity to get to know...sing bgvs and tour with!! She was my sister from anuthuh Mister!! Just AWESOME!! Love her for life! HER VOICE WAS BUTTA!! #effortless
Wow now this I can work with..I like this version with the ladies ..it kind of puts me somewhere else in time... It's like a sexy song in it's own right...I give it a 10!!!
Love you always Teena Marie...Life you just dont know when ite you time ,the tears are pouring for you my SISTA you music is nurition for my soul!!!! Bless!! Rest in Peace Ms Marie... The Ivory Queen!!
This is 1st X hearing this (thnx to MYS...) and it is truly powerful performed by powerful women! I absolutely lovedddd this version; and is surely a keeper on my Playlist! 🎉💯🎉💯 1/5/24
A dream come true my two favorite ladies and Pamela blowin the hell outta that sax! I never thought anyone would even think of re-doing the secret garden after the fellas tore it up like that, but the ladies do the damn thing too!
I know I'm late on this because I just heard the male's version last night, I'm not talking about the original, I'm talking about Sisqo and the other men. But when I hear Tina's part I can feel my hair standing up on my head. Literally. That white woman can blow!!!!!
This three woman perform this song so well,a song i have never heard before, but i cant help listening to it,what a beautiful love song,my favorite artists, going to miss you Miss Teena
this song is absolutely amazing never has there been such a combination of powerhouse ladies before or since , and in my opinion they should not try to remake this song
Patti's La Belle's voice like POWERFUL thunder...she is the pioneer of pioneers...singing ever since the 1950's; a Legend in every sense of the *word (Legend.) 👑Queen Diva! 👑
Okay, as a musician and music enthusiast I feel the need to clear up the confusion on the artist performing: the first vocalist is not Regina Belle, her name is Pat Peterson. She has established quite a successful career as a background vocalist for various rock groups and artist (John Mellencamp, Pat Benatar, etc.), most notably, Pat was a backup singer for Ray Charles. The original arrangement was on Quincy Jones, "Back on the Block" album with El deBarge, Al B. Sure, James Ingram and of course, Barry White ("Sho you right!..."). As much as I like the fellas version I must say, I do appreciate the ladies putting their on spin on it (especially with my girl Teena in there!) Hope this post offers some clarity - enjoy! ;-D
I get the bone of my life, hearing Teena's voice ! -----------------The woman just does it to me like no one ever. -------------------------WolfSky9 72 y/o
@psoemetry thanks for recognizing Teena's input. While I also love the original, and used o play it endlessly when it first came out all those years ago, lol, when I'm in the mood to hear it now, I play THIS version the most. I only wish they had gotten another sellar singer to open the song (not that Pat Peterson did bad, its just no one knows who she is), and that they had took the time to do a hot video, even if it was just them in the studio. I love Teena, and play her music daily. RIP LadyT
I'm in my 60's and am a professional DJ for over 40 years. It's my first time hearing this version also. Thanks to a viewer on my LIVE STREAM show who requested it!!! -djsoulforce!!!

WOW! Love it!!! Many thanks for share it! #SoulTrainAwards #SmoothVocals

The arrangement was perfect. The smooth groove of teena Marie finishing the song out, but Patti LaBelle killed the chorus. No recovering from that.
