Very happy with this multitool. I don't generally edc a knife but I will take the Gerber drive slim when I snowboard to adjust or tighten bindings. The screwdriver is my main tool, but of course the knife and bottle opener come in handy. It fits in my wallet.
Cool. I actually love all of these new designs for multitools over the last few years. Granted, some are variations on a theme, but I think there is a place for scaled down multitools for basic house or office tasks. Not every multitool need to be a beefy Surge.
Agreed! Nobody is gonna use this little guy for heavy duty tasks, but to throw in a glove box, kitchen drawer, or in your backpack, it could be a handy option. Thanks very much for checking out the review and I am excited to connect over here on the UA-cams!
Pretty cool to see them slim this down. I edc a full size Leatherman everyday for my work and a small sak as well. This would be one I would probably carry on the weekend just to have a couple of tools on me. Great review 👍
Yep...it’s cool! I mean really there is a TON of engineering/designing done to create that! Honestly I think Gerber has shifted a lot of their focus on their multitools this year. They have some really cool models coming out
I can see your point and it would be a good marketing decision on Gerber's part to do a UK/Europe variant as you describe. Here in the States I'd prefer both were locking. Lol. So I guess they can't win. Thanks very much for watching and commenting.
Just bought one, does yours also have a quite loose bit socket? The bit turns a quite bit when I wiggle it. Scared to put some force on it in the future.
So, yeah, the magnet keeps the bit pretty secure (like it's not gonna fall out), but the bit definitely wiggles/rattles around in the socket. Totally agree. So far I've not had any trouble with it, but it stays in my truck console and generally only gets light use. I'm not sure I'd try to take a lawnmower apart with it. Lol. Anyway, hope that help. Thanks for watching!
The wife got me one on nlack friday deal for like 10 buck. I lone is so far. I usually carry high end folder with just a blade but i always find myself in need of a screwdriver and this one is grad because it even fits my impact driver bits. I am back in school and do alot of wiring and this thing is great for not having to dig through the community tool box for a smallish driver. I would have rather had the regular version than the slim but can’t beat ten bucks for this
That is very interesting. Wish it was at least 440A but since not sure maybe it is. I for the most part carry a SAK. I do see the functionality of that Armbar especially when it comes to a screwdriver. If it does hold any 1/4 bits could get a set of Wiha bits and be ready to go. I wonder if they have a glasses bit in quarter inch bit.
Hello. I carry a mini multitool uniquely for the pliers. A knife i have on me and with my SAK and a square to hex adapter that fits on most SAK flat head/cap lifters i am afraid this is "superfluouss" for me. Lol.(sorry, i had to do it). The adapter and double head bits are always in my edc bag and are smaller and surely lighter than the armbar. I can see how this would be an option for someone who uses a driver often though. All the best
Lol. Sure I see how it is, make fun of the guy that can't pronounce big words. Hahaha. I'm just kidding, I don't know why that word tongue ties me so badly. Regardless, thanks for checking out the vid, even if this isn't necessarily your cup of tea multitool wise. Be well!
Unfortunately I don't know when it's going to be available on Amazon. I purchased mine directly from Gerber website. Thank you for watching the review.
Appreciate the kind words. Yeah I liked this slim better than the original. Still not the best materials, but for the price it's a decent option. Thanks for watching!
Great review! I'm new to EDC knives and was drawn to this one. Do you have any recommendations for something in a similar size BUT with a bit driver that locks?
Hmmm that's a good question. Well I think the Leather Skeletool is pretty compact and has a fixed driver. If you want to go a bit bigger the Leatherman Wave is pretty cool, locking driver and you can even get an extension. Hope that helps. Thanks very much for checking out the review.
Great point! Looking at it right now.... I bet they could have made that work. Swap the bottle opener to the other end. Like I said, it's not a deal breaker for me, but would have been nice, especially since folks complained about it on the "full" size Armbar. Thanks for checking out the review.
I never understood why you would want scissors on a knife. I can't think of any reason I would need scissors over a knife unless I wanted to clip coupons at the campfire.
No lock again.... I'm out. I bought the first and it's almost unusable without it being locking. I would have ordered one during this video if it had a lock on it.
Yeah I was disappointed by that as well as I mentioned. Especially since that was a pretty universal complaint on the regular Armbar. This one has a better detent in the open position than the last, but to your point, it's light use at best. Thanks for watching.
Literally all they had to do was swap the driver to open to the opposite end and could have cut a lock tab for it. I guess they wanted to save the 30 cents for another screw
What a disappointment. I have the original arm bar with scissors, and really like the form of this knife. All that Gerber had to do was incorporate a lock on the bit holder arm. The new version, the slim version, is a backwards step. They have kept the same very useful knife blade, but they have retained the dysfunctional non-blocking driver bit arm. By losing the scissors and the pry bar/tapping hammer, and to a lesser extent the awl, Gerber has reduced a potentially good, useful, easy-carry multitool to a just a great blade with a non-locking bit holder. This was the main criticism of the original armbar, from dozens of commenters. You would imagine that Gerber management would avidly read all comments and suggestions, and say: "Ah... THAT's what we need to do! That's what people want!" Instead, they retained the unstable bit-holder arm, and removed some of the other useful features,to produce a tool that no-one wants.
I get a kick out of the clips and I do this channel as a hobby, for enjoyment, there are plenty of other dry reviewers out there, maybe more to your taste. 👍🏻
A knife and screw driver. The two most important to me.

I am just finding out about this and so I just purchased it. Got a great deal for $26.
Backpack, glovebox, kitchen drawer perfect.
Agreed! Thanks for checking out the review!

I have all the Armbar variants. I like them all for what they were designed for, i.e. light use.
I was thinking you reviewed this, glad I checked it out.
Yeah, reviewed the larger version last year. I think I like this Slim better. Thanks for watching!
Yep...it’s cool! I mean really there is a TON of engineering/designing done to create that! Honestly I think Gerber has shifted a lot of their focus on their multitools this year. They have some really cool models coming out
Im with you, my typical multitool carry is a SAK. I could see myself carrying this tho. The word of the day is Super Flew Us. 😂
Hahaha! Yeah, it's kind of a fun alternative to a SAK, especially if you need that longer driver. Thanks for watching man!!
Great review. thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the kind words and for checking out the review!
It would ha be been nice to see all three tools together....I'm a fan of armbar.
..its soo attractive..even tho i dont need another knife lol
I think I'd prefer the other way, a non locking blade would be legal in the UK, and a locking bit holder would be more useful.
I can see your point and it would be a good marketing decision on Gerber's part to do a UK/Europe variant as you describe. Here in the States I'd prefer both were locking. Lol. So I guess they can't win. Thanks very much for watching and commenting.
Just what I was thinking too.

check out the civivi crit. they are on to something. tool should be on opposite side of blade. liner lock both sides

Great Video I have the original Armbar do not like steel quality and did not come sharp !
Appreciate the kind words. Yeah I liked this slim better than the original. Still not the best materials, but for the price it's a decent option. Thanks for watching!
It would be cooler with a pocket clip. It's a nice EDC for the slim profile.
A clip is definitely a missed opportunity. Thanks for watching!

They could of put the blade opposite open of the knife an should've been able to manage a double lock

great review lol the beer joke
Lol. I can't help myself. Thanks for watching man!

IMHO, first Armbar was better.
-Bit driver - don't care it is locking, or not - I can use more torque with this
Pocket clip would have been nice

Chinese junk.
Maybe worth $10
