For me, the thing that shines through here is the amount of time, effort thought, pride and care that goes into your physical media collection which I love.
I don't separate my Blu's & Dvd's. I like having them both together on the shelf. Quite the sin eh? My categories are unique....but make sense. *- Drama/Romance/War/Action/Adventure/Crime* (only if Crime is Mafia or Bank Heists. Serial killer films "Zodiac" & "Seven" is horror) *- Horror/Science-Fiction* (most Sci-Fi has Horror elements like Alien, Terminator, Predator) *- Comedy/Animation/Musicals* *- Documentaries* *- Television* *- Music* (concert films, documentaries, video collection)
😯 I have my entire collection of blu-rays and 4Ks in alphabetical order, and all in dedicated media storage. The collection used to be on bookcases, but proper media units look better and utilises the space better. 👍👍
DVDs I took the artwork and folded it flat with the disc in between, then two films go back to back in a plastic sleeve with no cases. Can get 200 DVDs now taking up the space of 30 cases.
I have three 3 metre shelves on a wall. It gets a bit complicated. Top shelf - Boxsets in height order then Pixar (Sleeves first), then PIxar (No sleeve) then my Disney Animated in number order (custom matching spines, no sleeves) then movies in alphabetical. Middle Shelf - Boxsets again in height order then Movies with sleeves in alphabetical and split into franchises, then movies with no sleeves Alphabetical to the end. Bottom Shelf - Boxsets again (heavy ones), then TV (sleeves first) then Bond franchise then movies alphabetical again (no sleeves). If I have to add something to a shelf, then I have have to take something else to make room. I had to do this with Deadpool and Wolverine where I put it with the other two Deadpool (sleeved) and next to the X-Men movies (also sleeved). I will be adding Alien Romulus to the other Alien movies (also sleeved) so will take another title of the shelf. In another room I have a shelf which is my Stargate DVD's, then Star Trek DVD's, then Star Trek Blu Rays, then Star Wars Blu Rays. I have a overflow drawer where I have put titles moved from a shelf.
Well done Pauly it’s all about if your happy with it that’s my advice to a collector of anything. For years I have had mine sorted in actor/actress order and in genre.
Aesthetically, the color coordination looks really nice, but I'd be too OCD when spines of the same franchise don't match and will need to be separated. The way i organize mine: 3D, Disney/Pixar, Marvel, DC, TV, and then everything else (all alphabetized).
Brilliant Paul I have noticed the Gaps cos the shelves size.for example in the Arcove. How about finding someone cheap in your area to build shelves to fit, more space might make them look tidier as I’ve noticed like all of us the space issue. Very brave going colour and would never have thought of that idea.😃👍
Yeah most of the shelves have gaps as they’re just regular bookcases from Argos. I bought these being really cheap £20-30 each. I can always use the spaces above to lay some titles on their sides.
Your video did make me think of the 2 Ronnie's The Confusing Library Sketch B. P where all the book are in sections according to their colour. It is on UA-cam, but seriously your collection looked great when sorted.
Yeah I also aim to do it like that. Is also easier to find the movies you want to see by their genre. I want to see a comedy today.. you go to your comedy section. I want to see a superhero movie today.. you go straight to your superhero movies category (and so on) 😁👍
Never been a fan of alphabetical order. I just put mine in collections, one for 101 black label, Disney, star wars, horror. The rest are pretty random. Think it looks great imho
Blimey Paul, that’s a lot of effort mate 👏 it would bother me if a sequel had a completely contrasting spine (I think you got away with it with Final Destination though) 👍😃👍
Actually Alan I do have a few sequels with different spine colours so are now in a different section of the shelving. Let’s just hope I don’t go colourblind 🙈
The colour coding looks good but I think the shading order would be a good idea as well. Maybe you could put some of the star wars or star trek figures on that spare shelf. And have you still got the back to the future and ghost busters cars, I couldn't see them in the cinema room
Great update and video, really liking the colour co-ordination. Very pleasing on the eye. Also a nice quick collection tour to boot, which is very nice. Time to chill and enjoy the fruits of your labour. 👍
I had too many copies of MCU films and TBH I prefer steelbooks, especially the Mondo ones. There’s never gonna be matching poster art for titles like Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man’s anyway
I have my collection in genre order big guy all action together horror together ect ect i find that way easier but i understand you don't like the potential overall look with different coloured cases and stuff but yeh i have a shelf on it's own for horror one for action ect ect and i have large led lighting letters above each unit showing me what unit section is what horror shelves letters being in red lol
same here i will even subdivide by director, crew or vibe. ends up being a spectrum of sorts, with horror naturally morphing into anime into drama into comedy etc. for example
@@BigPauly great question xD horror most likely, because i feel you usually saw those in with the horror section at video rental stores. so for example in my collection, shaun of the dead would be with other horror (zombie) movies. perhaps should have also mentioned the largest way i separate my movies is by their native language... japanese, korean, english, other... so that pares things down quite a bit first. then within each language is some arbitrarily esoteric method of organization by genre, cast/crew, vibe xD

Yes, it might not suit another collector but I’m happy with how my collection looks now

I couldn’t have blu-rays and DVDs on the same shelves due to their different heights, it would drive me crazy
😯

👍👍
I found big media units too expensive though, my bookcases cost around £20 each so does me well
@@BigPauly 👍

Ah don’t think I could ever store my movies in plastic sleeves, have to go on the shelves

Sorting by colour does look good👍

all my blu-ray have no slipcovers so all of mine have blue cases
When you remove slipcovers makes it look 100 times better
Member back in the day you could get cases for VHS , and the spines looked like books?
Your video did make me think of the 2 Ronnie's The Confusing Library Sketch B. P where all the book are in sections according to their colour. It is on UA-cam, but seriously your collection looked great when sorted.
i organize my collection genre style
Same 👍
I agree with mine.
Yeah I also aim to do it like that. Is also easier to find the movies you want to see by their genre.

Paul also white dvd shelving units look much better.
Nah don’t like white shelves they’re so common. In the bedroom it’s painted brown so dark wood works better and in the cinema black is perfect
Looks bettter to me , as long as your happy with it mate 👍
I do mine in age oder and if the collection has mixed age order then i do mine from the oldest age onward in that collection.
Never been a fan of alphabetical order. I just put mine in collections, one for 101 black label, Disney, star wars, horror. The rest are pretty random. Think it looks great imho
Yeah I keep certain labels together such as Arrow and 101 films
Yeah actually looks good pauly 👍👌,,,
You could of put the colours in alphabetical order,,,
🤣🤣

Which 4K Marvel amaray’s do you have left? I’d be interested in a few titles
I’ll sent you a photo
Nice collection paul loved the video😅😅😅
I used to stack my blu rays in company order, but this is too barmy even for me.
Nice video and great work on putting you collection in some order you like
Actually that's a great idea as i am dyslexic and that might suit me to do something like that. Great idea mate.
I think it looks pretty good

I’ve rearranged the ghostbuster and BTTF car with my steelbooks in the bedroom now
Trust me get rid of the slip covers and take out the plastic cases from the box sets..
No I don’t think that’ll work for me
Great update and video, really liking the colour co-ordination. Very pleasing on the eye. Also a nice quick collection tour to boot, which is very nice. Time to chill and enjoy the fruits of your labour. 👍
I thought you like the poster art works on MCU 4K? Why get rid of them?
I had too many copies of MCU films and TBH I prefer steelbooks, especially the Mondo ones. There’s never gonna be matching poster art for titles like Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man’s anyway
Preferred it when it was in Alphabetical Order - maybe's that just my ODC. Each to their own though.
Everything with no slips, all in blue cases, alphabetical. That looks best, all the same 😃
You can’t beat a good slippy slip slip though
Collections looking good mate. Glad the colour matching works for you. I couldn't. Alphabetically for me XD
I organise mine by genre like blockbuster video where I used to work and there not alphabetical, easy
You got metal dvd tin of band of brothers on shelf taking up room you also got it on blu-ray get rid ❤of
Yes but not getting rid of it as it’s autographed by 8 of the actual soldiers of easy company that the series is based on
I have my collection in genre order big guy all action together horror together ect ect i find that way easier but i understand you don't like the potential overall look with different coloured cases and stuff but yeh i have a shelf on it's own for horror one for action ect ect and i have large led lighting letters above each unit showing me what unit section is what horror shelves letters being in red lol

You may be able to find something, but how will your guests be able to find anything?
Haha guests are not welcome to touch my physical media collection
In colour code, it looks stupid. To tidy up, you need all the bookcases the same. And put all the figures and the Bricker Brack in one place.
I love how it’s turned out. I have different colour bookcases as I went with the cheapest ones from Argos at the time.
🤣take the rest of the decade🤣
I put mine in alphabetical order
HAHAHAHAHAH oh matey your quote ,there's more Blacks than anything lolol quote of the year already mate lol
🤭🙈
When your more worried about how your blu ray collection looks than your own health... Yikes
Kills two birds with one stone. Sorted his films out whilst getting exercise.
I clocked up quite a few steps over those 3-4 days. I was exhausted so finished it off with a Chinese
