    Tbh I was not expecting to like the “upgrade” so much but I really did. It still sounds like a Tele, just beefier. Even the coil tap tones sounded good, and I typically don’t care for coil tapping. Nice video!

    Sounds beautiful! I’ve had my eye on these pickups for quite some time and my tele is such a great piece of wood. I really want to beef it up and you’ve certainly helped influence my decision. Thank you for this video!

    I love the shot of you looking at your notepad. I just revived an old strat style Tanara; paint, headstock repair and some modifications on the electronics, etc. and there was a lot of referring back to my notes.

    Been thinking about the same change up to "Rails" , but your high end sounds very thin at least on this demo ? Ramping down the shrill high end of a Tele is my eternal quest . thanks great vid .

    Thank you for doing this video. Im a Tele and Strat guy who plays in a jam band. I tire of the fender pickups. To quiet, not enough signal to really work with for what I do. Ive been thinking about switching over to hot rails for a while now. This video pushed me over the edge and pick ups are inbound. Great tone! Thanks again for a video with some jamming rather than the typical bridge on full gain metal clips that fill you tube..

    I love modding guitars to achieve either a much broader array of tones not found to to acreage something not normally found in the range. A buddy nodded my 2003 MIM Strat with a couple of hot rails and one cool rail..add in an S-1 Switch and I was left with a very cool strat like none other in my collection. Thanks for doing this video, it makes me want to play my modded guitars///I have been looking at making my own Townshend Deluxe which comes with a Dimarzio HB between two Gibson Minis--add two stitches and two knobs (one to blend just the Dimarzio super distortion) and you will know why PT had 9 of these guitars!

    Love the Rails and 4 Sure 2 have the push/pull on board to keep the Single Coils is the way to Roll!!
    Great Upgrade!!! As far as Fav Mod I like the Nashville 3 Pick-up Mod or Factory Set up! The B-Bender is a Kool Mod, but wood I Do that To A Great Sounding Fender Tele?? NO Way!! Keep My Fender Just Straight! Only Mod What Doesn't Chop up A Classy Guitar!! And the Black Gard looks great John if ONLY Rosewood or Ebony Fretboard!! Then She Would Have More of the Harley Davidson Looks, which is a very Classy Tele!!

      Teles are my favorite, and actually you bring up an important point - even when swapping pickups yes it’s still a Tele and imo should still sound like a Tele with the extra body from these hbs - there’s a difference for sure but it’s enhancing or reshaping, not replacing, traditional tone

      @@PlayandTradeGuitars I just ordered one, plus a black pickgard. It'll match much better the name of my band which is Black Mandarine (= Tangerine 🍊 in French, sorry for the 🎃😁). I don't know yet if I'll change the pickups, I'll see. Maybe a Hot Rails in the bridge position like on my Strat for good disto sounds, but probably not in the neck position because I also want to keep softer sounds. And I don't find this black pickup goes so well with a glossy black pickguard, because it's not the same black. So I'll keep a classic chrome tele pickup. Anyway, thank you for your video because it showed me, before I bought the guitar, what the result of the modifications I had in mind could be, which is very appreciable and not so common!

    Hey John and Zack. I have the JBE in my MIM Tele. They can get a bit spikey and brittle on the bridge. I was told it was common with rails. Did you experience that with the rails or is it because they are humbuckers you didnt experience it?

    Coil tapping is the biggest marketing gimmick in the history of pickups...
    If you want a singke coil sound then you need a single coil guitar. Its that simple. Different guitars have different applications. There is no substitute.

    • @tagadabrothersband
      @tagadabrothersband Рік тому +1

      As if Fender themselves had never put humbucker on their own "single coil guitars". Do you think single coils grow on alders and humbuckers on mahogany? The pick up change the sound only, not the shape, the confort or the sensations. One guitar can have different applications. Its that simple.

      The stock pickups can play just fine with high gain/distortion, but im not huge on the twangy tones that seem to come most naturally from tele pickups. If I could afford a Jim root tele or just get my tele routed for full sized invaders or whatever other humbuckers, then that's what I would do. But in the meantime, getting some of these for playing with overdrive and distortion. I think they even sound fine clean, too, imo. but you know what they say about opinions
