Just thinking after reading the comments, I'm in a river city....and one of the most beautiful things is in the morning ...going down river drive and watching the sun come up over the Mississippi river
Man, I've lived here my whole life.....u just made me realize, I love this place......been telling the wife, were can we homestead and maybe live a semi off grid style of life, was thinking everywhere but now definitely made my mind up
My husband comes from Iowa, I'm a military brat... but the first year we lived in Iowa when our boys were looking forward to the great winter snows, it only snowed twice the whole winter! It was cold like crazy though, and the lake near us froze over like glass so they played LOTS of ice hockey on the lake. Haven't had the lake quite so smooth since.
Interesting list! It would be a lucky thing if you actually had a white Christmas though, from our experience it's rare :) It would be hard for us to come up with our own 7 things we love about the Midwest. Menards would be one, lower cost of living would be another, hmm.. Interested to see your 7 things you don't like!

My husband is also from Iowa and we'll be moving there from California hopefully this year with our 1 year old son.

Haha I was told that as soon as we buy a snowmobile or some cross country skis, we will have a snowless winter!
