Be careful going leaner on the main jet and if you change it check all other jetting lower down. When jetting Mikuni carbs, set the main jet first doing Wide Open Throttle runs in 3rd or 4th, so there is enough load on the engine. I found my ported TS1 wouldn't rev out with a 370 main jet, but it would with a 360, so I stuck with that. You can do plug color checks by shutting down the engine while doing a WOT run, then pull the plug and check the color per Sticky's manual. Once the main jet is chosen, then work on the jet needle and it's position. On my new carb, I'm back to a 57 needle. Finally choose a pilot jet. It should be rich enough that the engine will come down to tickover quickly after revving out, especially with a hot engine. Mikuni jets are additive. That's why the main jet has to be selected first because it affects all the other settings. If I were racing I might go leaner on the main jet for better power but on the road I prefer to jet slightly rich.
Top advice man cheers. I've never once done a plug chop on a motor and in fairness I've always been very much on the side of caution with jetting. Rather a fouled plug than a ruined barrel like as you say. If this was a cold winters morning then she'd be off like chuff so I'm tempted just to knock it down by one increment and just keep at-it. I'm conscious of the weather/heat etc on days like this so do have confidence/understanding of what's going on here. Plus i always roll off the throttle really steadily to keep the mix going into the cylinder, no matter what the outside conditions are. Im sure this can perform better than it actually is now but don't want to start altering stuff that I'm not currently feeling adverse effects from on the road as I ride. Thanks though man. Love the videos, I don't ride scooters but they look like good fun. I agree regarding the wearing of riding gear not like you cannot get some cracking summer mesh gear at a decent prices. Unfortunately marriage is a stacked contract in favour of the women, apparently the sales of engagement rings has fallen by 60 odd percent as blokes are no longer interested in tying the knot.
I agree mate. I know that my engagement ring purchases have gone down to 0% permanently from here on in... Once bitten, twice shy. Forget em and move on. I had to sell the orange one a fair while back mate, needed the cash and decided I didn't really want keep on with it. I kinda miss the blue GP I built ages ago though. This Special was my 1st love though, but there's room for another one day.... I'm not doing IOW no, I did have plans to go to Kelso earlier this year but it all had to be abandoned due to cost. Lucky I didn't really too as my two mates who were going both broke down on the way so would've had to go solo most of the way there and back. Next year will be different all being well...Thanks man, all the best.

The important thing is I've still got my Lambrettas. :) I took your advice and fitted a new Mikuni TMX 35 and my jetting problems are sorted. Running a 360 main, 57 needle on 2nd richest setting and 25 pilot jet. That Cali Gold Run was a good ride, alright, but there were plenty of potholes riding to it, lol :)

What engine are you running in your scooter 30mm carb is huge
It's a TS1 225 through a 35mm Mikuni TMX carb and a TSR- Evo exhaust. Runs great! Ta for watching!
