Sorry to bother, I joined the diagnostics network just as you have in your video. Hoping to find the same link to the 'ford sboot driver' but, am unable to read the comments. Do you or anyone else know of another place to find it? Thanks, Am very green to programming modules and trying to learn.
What an overcomplicated, undocumented, hermetic and frustrating process! I bet you lost a lot of time before you could reach the point to make this video. Hats off to your perseverance, Jake!
That's an awesome aftermarket bypass! It's way easier with FDRS and Ford dealers privileges😅 At least on the newer models. I replaced 3 APIMS last year. All had different symptoms.
Good video had to replace the APIM on my 2012 edge dealer wanted $1200 + got two from local pick a part for $53 each including screen it was PnP works fine now
MUCH easier on my daughters 2016 Escape, it did a OTA update AFTER I selected her home wifi and told it to do the OTA updates, easy! I did however have to buy a new USB port under the center armrest to enable Apple CarPlay, but that was easy too. Thanks!
at 17:32, you disconnected APIM module from computer, re-connected original cable which connects module to console outlet, plugged the USB flash drive into console USB outlet (so now USB flash drive is connected to module), yet your computer seems to be connected to the vehicle and / or module because you hit "OK" on computer to begin transfer from USB flash to module. How is computer connected to vehicle / module at this point? How did you read the VIN at 6:58?
Even when your programming the PCM and/or BCM, there are parts of the programming that take time. You can almost run out for a sandwich. The last two F450's I had to program was the PCM and BCM on one because the PCM would not turn on the A/C Clutch and the BCM for the remote to lock and unlock the doors and that BCM would not communicate also. The second was having BCM communications problems. The two of these F450's had V10 engines and of course automatic transmissions. The two vehicles came off the same assembly line one after the other. In fact the only VIN difference was the last number. I don't remember the sequence numbers exactly, but it would be this way. The first 16 numbers were the same for both trucks the last number would be one (1) for the first truck and two (2) for the second truck. I called them "The Evil Twins." Actually they were both good, single bucket trucks, and the shop that brought them over was REAL HAPPY to get them back. But it was a learning curve programming the two modules on one truck and the one module on the second truck with the IDS and the VCM. And no battery maintainer! This was back in 2015. I used my fully charged jumper box with both vehicle's battery's fully charged before starting programming. I had also plugged in my jumper pack's charger plug to help keep it up. Ya, it all worked. Both vehicles worked great! Thanks for the info Jake.
I like your videos that you make because you explain it very well, I would like to know how you make your test lights . And what bulb you should use depending on the voltage.?
Several years ago i updated my Escspe Titaniums sync and added Navigation. I was able to update Sync and Navigation with thumb drives. It did take over 40 minutes to update. Then i used an ELM connector for my laptop with the Forscan app to change a couple values. It has worked well for me for years. DIY Reid has a great video how to.
thanx for sharing. i cant help but wonder how the factory does it. there must be a way they program the modules then just plug n play. really seems that in a lot of cases would be so much better.
I cannot help but think that Forscan would have been easier, and straightforward. Forscan should be able to do the APIM if the calibration file is available.
Brother, next time, try a different usb thumb drive. That happened to me on a software update on a regular Sony touch screen. They are sensible to storage capacity and what type of formatting you have on it. I know it's crazy! But outstanding video as always! Best regards
reminds me if programming those icu,s with a jtag many moons ago boring as hell you normally had to do it twice because the first time failed and you though you had bricked the module took at least an hour and a half . the on time said 20 min yeh right 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just image in the future someone bringing in a 15 year old Chinese BYD, everything that was online when new will be offline in China or the URL taking over by a dodgy website. Same for Ford Dodge whoever i suppose. 👍
thanks for sharing jake. that dirty screen was killing me.
Have watched a couple of your videos now, keep up the great work!! I am super appreciative of what you have put out!

The first one was definitely a lot of double checking things lol
@@autodiagyt Yep, I imagine 🙂
Outstanding! Very interesting video on how to work with these Sync systems, thanks!!

Thank you for, real life diagnostics. 🚘

Thought this was one of your better videos very helpful. Thank you.
Jake, I think things are getting a bit over the top for this old man!. Thanks for Sharing!
Great info, Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing the update process. Another great video 👊

Jbox is connected the whole time

Great video Jake.. !!
Good video Jake 👍 thanks

I have a few different bulbs for different amp ratings.
@@autodiagyt I wonder if you can make a video how to make it and how to use it depends in the bulb amp this that helps us a lot especially me
Nice video. Seems like a very complicated process. How did you learn how to do programming? Did you take classes or just learned on your own?
A lot of FAFO lol.
@@autodiagyt LOL.
Will you share the sboot driver link?
I showed where to find it in the video.
Does anyone know if oem ford service information has documentation on this process or did ford really just leave everyone in the dark on this?

Hey Jake, do you use the Topdon maintainer most of the time? Im looking to get a decent one that has a display
Yeah I use it everyday
Hey bro!can i install a used APIM on 2017 fusion?and what procedure should i go?pmi or reprograming?
I’ve had good luck so far doing used apim. You would pmi it in frds and go through all the steps.
thanx for sharing. i cant help but wonder how the factory does it. there must be a way they program the modules then just plug n play. really seems that in a lot of cases would be so much better.

What was you computer hooked to in the car other than the cable you showed us
Jbox

Forescan will PMI but not do just software updates on it I don't think.
❤❤❤❤❤

Forscan does this?
Not that I’m awake of.
Yes you can do APIM as built upload with forscan.
@@weldingjunkie yes as built but will it do the software update?
Do it day in and day out being a ford mobile tech
