Andrius and Geidre, I love the new path to draw the water away from the wall of the house. Great job, it looks nice, and it will be good for you both to be able to work on the side of the house on a flat surface. I know I would not have thought to put a path like that next to the house.

Why not extend the roof 'over-hang', over that area so the rain will wash over the huge boulders towards the Oak trees ~

It was just a thought or suggestion.
Will you be making a patio cover either at the side (forest side) or in front of the house for the heat in the summer time?
Even during the rainy season it would make the patio's more usable.
      Again just a thought 🤗💕

i would have placed a perforated draintube at the bottom of that gravel but thats a bit late now i guess. So atleast let the gravel act as a drain and let the bottom open or put a drainpipe there that runs away from the house. It shouldnt catch allot of water after you placed the gutters on the roof

big porous perforated land drain pipe (wavin coil or similar make ) - 100/150diameter in bottom of trench with shingle at lower than floor level - i know if might be hard dig but will pay back long term - so drop ground by 10-15cm then dig 15cm /20cm trench to take water away to garden outlet - basically a French drain - to make sure water goes away quicker than just gravel - i didnt have time earlier to watch to end .......

You might not want to dig all of the trench at once. If you dig section and do sections at a time the wall will only be unsupported in the trench area.

Maybe purchase a clear sealer that you can use on rocks and cement that will keep the water from penetrating the stones.

Drainage is all about surface elevation.. water will always flow or seek the lowest point..

Ah, i see you're hard at work building a beautiful stone path outside the back of your house. Looks very smart!
I wonder of you want to engineer some type of cement diversion barrier(s) to direct the heaviest rain runoffs away from all sides of your house and onto the land our to the winter streams below your terraces?
I guess berms and swales above the highest point behind your house & road would help?

Hello :) yes will be interesting to see how it will work /.. But you see before this building was used just as a storage so if it was damp it didn't really matter .. no one lived in there live we are planning to do :) but hopefully it will help .. we had rains last week and walls where dry and water was running like we though it would .. will wait for bigger heavier rain to see :) Gx

can you drop the outer stone surface level to be lower than the inside floor level - ideally 10-15cm below- at least then you have positive drainage away from the building

That rock sloping down to the house is a problem. Water will collect, so it needs to be chanelled around the house and away and not allowed to soak into the earth supporting the wall.

Yeah he is totally the man who can help you. hope Andrius you did get his phone number and speak to him. Yeah in the beginning he built
outside a kitchen bench when he had nothing, so he could cook a meal and have a proper coffee, but don't think he not the oerson
because the place was so remote and he was there he did it for something special but he is definitely the person you knows what you need because Brady completely made his stone house water proof.
He is not a joke he is the real deal, his place was for animals, just like yours was .

placing guttering on such a small and straight roof will take you only a few hours... i presume you gonna use sandwish panels, so you can buy gutters that you can simply clip on.

Unfortunately, the work that you did on the trench only raises the area on the wall where water will enter the house.. the cement needs to be above the height of the boulders that are directing the water toward the house!!!

    • @whyareyouheregetoutnow5882
      @whyareyouheregetoutnow5882 2 місяці тому +3

      That's not true
If you look at the bottle 21:51 its clearly leaning away from the building there's about a 5 inch fall over 1 meter that's enough to divert a stream
Also it falls from front to back, look at the joints/pointing on the stone back by the bottle 6 inches, front closest to the camera 18 inches
      This will work just fine

    • @FirminoRodrigues-d9e
