G you’re a super hero out there. Way to go guys. Way to stick to the job all summer even thru the heat and not using the heat as an excuse. Getting a little bit done every day keeps the momentum going. Love your channel. ❤
than you Joanne :) we couldn't just sit and do nothing .. (well at least me G .. I feel guilty if I don't do any work ... ) Thank you for watching us and your kind words Gxxx
Great Video. G, you are not only pretty, but you do great work on the build. This is rare and indeed very interesting to see. Your efforts, support and respect for each other is very evident and enjoyable! This is the kind of video that will appeal to tens of thousands!
Andrius and Geidre, I love the new path to draw the water away from the wall of the house. Great job, it looks nice, and it will be good for you both to be able to work on the side of the house on a flat surface. I know I would not have thought to put a path like that next to the house.
You both work so hard making your stone house liveable. It will be so nice. You make me laugh when you have pretend squabbles. Love following your progress x
When you're digging it's like a treasure hunt! I love the curly little metal thing you found too and G, the 'Chicken Auntie', your little chickens are delightful, so pleased these eggs hatched for you, the hen looks very proud of her little brood. Love watching your day to day antics, excitement, struggles and hard work, you two are so inspiring, thank you for sharing xxx
Are you making a walkway or a waterfall? ~ Why not extend the roof 'over-hang', over that area so the rain will wash over the huge boulders towards the Oak trees ~ Happy to see the kitties and Guffy having treats ~ Guffy wants to play with the concrete and rocks, too 😂🐾 Take care, be well ~ 🤗💕 Lacy, Mike & Hamish🐾
@@portugalitis It was just a thought or suggestion. Will you be making a patio cover either at the side (forest side) or in front of the house for the heat in the summer time? Even during the rainy season it would make the patio's more usable. Again just a thought 🤗💕
yes we will be doing there BBQ area eventually (with one more outdoor kitchen I hope ) .. so we will be making some sort of cover ;) it will look amazing I already see it .. but first we need to make our home that's our priority Gxxx
You two wonderful people continue to amaze me; so hard-working and such a team! I think your solution will work, it's just important to make sure that no water can get between the new "path" and the wall. Well done, team!
Wow that area you are working on looks great. The little chicks are so cute. I really admire you both for all the hard work you do, hopefully the severe heat will let up soon. We are having some cooler temps at night here & fall is not far away. Wishing you both a blessed week.
I love this video, so relaxing and satisfying to see a time lapse of you completing hours of hard work in minutes while Im having a rest break from my own project❤
Awesome 👌 creative foot path I think if you could make your dog paws and your hands make a nice creative print to remind you your journey 😀 😊 Beautiful stone castle 🏰 😍 ❤
Oooo a water feature with a channel to the side for drainage ..Cant wait for the rains .Its raining now in Oregon .We need the rains to put out alot of fires .. Blessings to you all .
Aww the chicks are adorable ❤ both of you are so hard working and making a wonderful job of your tiny stone house 😊 guffy is as entertaining as ever … love him x
i would have placed a perforated draintube at the bottom of that gravel but thats a bit late now i guess. So atleast let the gravel act as a drain and let the bottom open or put a drainpipe there that runs away from the house. It shouldnt catch allot of water after you placed the gutters on the roof
What would you do with out Gina, the woman is a master of clearing up! She rally is a one woman army, mixing concrete, emptying multiple buckets of dirt, laying stones, detailing around stones. Is there nothing this woman can’t do! Looking forward to the next video❤️
big porous perforated land drain pipe (wavin coil or similar make ) - 100/150diameter in bottom of trench with shingle at lower than floor level - i know if might be hard dig but will pay back long term - so drop ground by 10-15cm then dig 15cm /20cm trench to take water away to garden outlet - basically a French drain - to make sure water goes away quicker than just gravel - i didnt have time earlier to watch to end .......
So much hard work👍👍 Very nice path to drain the rain off. Gi does very well at masonry, lets get those mixer going Andrus 😂🤣😂, she says.. LOL. Congrats on new Chiks, a bigger chicken flock now . 🙏🙏🙏Be blessed .
You both are working so hard ❤ but it will be worth it in the end. You are creating a lovely little dwelling. Take care of yourselves. I am always happy when you have posted another episode to watch. It makes my day x😊😊
G, female builder extraordinaire!! That does looks like a fun job. I love how it looks so much better than before. The progress you’ve made on the house is incredible. Congratulations on your chicks. They look so very sweet. ❤❤❤ happy September ❤

Ah, i see you're hard at work building a beautiful stone path outside the back of your house. Looks very smart! I wonder of you want to engineer some type of cement diversion barrier(s) to direct the heaviest rain runoffs away from all sides of your house and onto the land our to the winter streams below your terraces? I guess berms and swales above the highest point behind your house & road would help?
garden gets flooded during the rainy season we need to think how to get rid of this water to be honest so we won't have same situation as we did this spring
Hello. So, i just look this video and nice because i Had more and less the same problem when I bought. So nice to look your solution 😄. I'm curius to see if it's ok. And other way, i was thinking, before how they do? Because it was many years without nothing and seems that was good. I mean, we know today human don't know really to do as the old generation.
Hello :) yes will be interesting to see how it will work /.. But you see before this building was used just as a storage so if it was damp it didn't really matter .. no one lived in there live we are planning to do :) but hopefully it will help .. we had rains last week and walls where dry and water was running like we though it would .. will wait for bigger heavier rain to see :) Gx
can you drop the outer stone surface level to be lower than the inside floor level - ideally 10-15cm below- at least then you have positive drainage away from the building
That rock sloping down to the house is a problem. Water will collect, so it needs to be chanelled around the house and away and not allowed to soak into the earth supporting the wall.
Yeah he is totally the man who can help you. hope Andrius you did get his phone number and speak to him. Yeah in the beginning he built outside a kitchen bench when he had nothing, so he could cook a meal and have a proper coffee, but don't think he not the oerson because the place was so remote and he was there he did it for something special but he is definitely the person you knows what you need because Brady completely made his stone house water proof. He is not a joke he is the real deal, his place was for animals, just like yours was .
You're busy again. Is there no way to put the concrete mixer directly where you need it? Getting sand and cement there would probably be easier. Have fun further
placing guttering on such a small and straight roof will take you only a few hours... i presume you gonna use sandwish panels, so you can buy gutters that you can simply clip on.
Unfortunately, the work that you did on the trench only raises the area on the wall where water will enter the house.. the cement needs to be above the height of the boulders that are directing the water toward the house!!!
That's not true If you look at the bottle 21:51 its clearly leaning away from the building there's about a 5 inch fall over 1 meter that's enough to divert a stream Also it falls from front to back, look at the joints/pointing on the stone back by the bottle 6 inches, front closest to the camera 18 inches This will work just fine

Maybe purchase a clear sealer that you can use on rocks and cement that will keep the water from penetrating the stones.
will see how this will work :) Gx
Drainage is all about surface elevation.. water will always flow or seek the lowest point..
Yes, I think the side walk should have been steeper directing water away for it to work in big storms.
Maybe camera didn't showed that angle but we do got good elevation
Ah, i see you're hard at work building a beautiful stone path outside the back of your house. Looks very smart!
I wonder of you want to engineer some type of cement diversion barrier(s) to direct the heaviest rain runoffs away from all sides of your house and onto the land our to the winter streams below your terraces?

can you drop the outer stone surface level to be lower than the inside floor level - ideally 10-15cm below- at least then you have positive drainage away from the building

Is your little stone house going to be a bedroom/sitting room?
yes bedroom will be bedroom sitting room will be outside under the terrace as we using now one by the caravan :)
What about a French drain to direct water away from the wall.
a bit to late for that now ;)
Why don’t you just put a veranda on the front you may call it a porches it would make a out door space
ring Brady from Raising Voyagers vlogs you tube

he knows what you need to do

because the place was so remote and he was there he did it for something special but he is definitely the person you knows what you need because Brady completely made his stone house water proof.

You're busy again. Is there no way to put the concrete mixer directly where you need it? Getting sand and cement there would probably be easier. Have fun further
it would take longer to move everything I think .. just thinking about access
placing guttering on such a small and straight roof will take you only a few hours... i presume you gonna use sandwish panels, so you can buy gutters that you can simply clip on.
We don't like sandwich panels we are going for clay tiles :)
Pathway by the house looks good, the baby chicks are so cute! Until next time have fun while you work hard and taking it in turns 🍻cheers! Xxx

Well done drainage, but you need to continue it further away from the house. Very nice to be hatching some chick’s and grow the flock
so much fun just to sit and watch chicks ... they growing fast though
Unfortunately, the work that you did on the trench only raises the area on the wall where water will enter the house.. the cement needs to be above the height of the boulders that are directing the water toward the house!!!
That's not true

Also it falls from front to back, look at the joints/pointing on the stone back by the bottle 6 inches, front closest to the camera 18 inches

As long as it’s pitched away from the house, it should be fine
Wy did tried to run water from big boulders and it worked .. will see how it will be when we will get strong rains but should be fine :)
We think it should be fine as well :)
