Yeehaw, I love Enid. This is my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. I was raised as a young boy here and now I’m a young man. It’s a great little city. A good place to raise a family. It’s not insanely big and it’s a little sleepy. But it’s a farming town, it has a small town atmosphere, but has a little more than most small towns, so we have enough resources and amenities to feel nice. We grow grain here, and we bring up oil here. But we also enjoy a nice peaceful life, and that’s something to be thankful for.
I’m finishing up law school, then settling down here with my eventual wife (current fiancé)
But yeah, Enid is awesome for the people who want a nice honest family life. Maybe not for the partiers, but hey we can’t have city life if we’re a small town haha.
A good place with lots of people. My buddies that I went to high school and played ball with would do anything for me, many years later. We have really strong community here, it’s less about how big we are or what we have materially, and more about how friendly and strong our friend groups are.
Also we do have a lot of Native American population and Marshallese population so we are a diversifying community with lots of friendliness too. It’s a conservative town through and through, but we are kind to everyone no matter what.
Im fixing to become an assistant district attorney here in a few years, and also one day, our mayor, Lord willing.
I love hanging out at the YMCA with my buddies and I have a lot of fun seeing the sights around town with my family like the gaslight theatre you mentioned or the symphony hall.
That being said, I am serious about making the city I love a better place. Here, our strength is our community and genuine friendship.
We might not be as good as NYC. But we care about you “the person” a lot. And that’s something that an NYC can’t compare.
    Yeehaw, from Enid, USA

Always a pleasure, even though we don't usually have any tourists, because people might say we are "boring", but you're always welcome!

Grew up in Enid. My Grandparents had several dry goods/clothing stores between 1938 and 1984, most of them called Coldiron's or C&C Variety Stores. My dad had Fats & Skinnies submarine sandwich shop, and other businesses previously to the sandwich shop. GREAT place to grow up. My granddad was a staunch supporter of downtown (called "The Square") and led a proposal to build the impending "Enid Mall" downtown because he knew building it away from there would kill the downtown business, which had always thrived. Powers-that-be decided to build it out on the west side of town, called it Oakwood Mall, and downtown promptly started dying. Withered for many years until coming back behind Law Firms, private businesses, etc. Not back to where it was in the 40's-70's---fewer retailers, for instance---but it survived. The Oakwood Mall, on the other hand, is now floundering. Don't know what they'll do with it. Anyway, Enid is a fabulous town.

An Enid native named Mark Marshall worked for George Lucas and/or Steven Spielberg for many years since the 80's. I'm pretty sure he originated the idea that those characters would be from Enid who had a shop "in Sunset Plaza". Pretty detailed backstory.

very cool channel. grew up here and got out as soon as I could, but learned some pretty interesting facts from your video. also the broadway tower was at least partially in use around ~5ish years ago - mostly law firms near the bottom floors I believe. Had no issue getting to the top during my last visit; very sketchy

they had a electrical problem and it was more expensive to fix than to just abandoned it so they just left it to rot, was going to try and explode it but they are started to do some sort of work inside, someone i know said they are thinking about knocking it down
