Thank you for the explanation; however, I have encountered an issue. Quantum mechanics tells us that excitation occurs only at the correct energy levels. However, in this example, the energy level E′does not match the excitation energy. Why then is there still a probability for electrons to move to the conduction band?
Thank you for your response. I understand that the conduction band comprises multiple energy levels, but E’ is not within the conduction band. Therefore, I’m curious about why electrons can transition to the conduction band with energy E’.

Conduction band itself is having many energy levels dear.
