Your dress is beautiful and it's beautiful on you. The full apron will really make it complete. Renting a cabin with your daughter will be a great experience. 🌷
I really appreciate all your kind feedback, you're so nice :). We rented the cabin this past summer and had lots of fun. I was going to make a video about it but never got the chance to. I did end up making a couple of shorts with some of the footage though.
Thank you so much for sharing about your grandpa.. he sounds amazing! It reminds me of my grandpa who is also very special to me =)
That's awesome, thanks for reaching out about this :). Yes, he was super cool, just like yours!
I very enjoyed the fiddles playing, with the red barns in your reveal ! It made my heart happy.
First time watcher. Great video, filming, music, commentary, brava!
Love the shape of the dress, especially the laborious ruffle. The color isn't my favorite but in that case, I would dye it. A light coffee colored dye instantly ages and warms up any fabric. I've fallen in love with many a cloth that I would have otherwise gifted to the thrift store because the dye gave it a while new look that I am in love with.
Great job on the sewing. Hope you have a delicious time with your girls. You have a nice presence.
Hi there, thank you so much for checking out my channel and taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment! I absolutely love your idea about dying the fabric to antique it a bit. I think that is the missing piece I’m really needing to fall in love with this dress. Overall it was such a fun project to make and I had a blast filming the reveal. I’m so glad you enjoyed it and I hope to see you again soon!
It’s so beautiful I Love it So much!!!
It’s so perfect!!
Inspired to make one also!! The vibe of your collection has become my favorite!! I call it a 10!! Everything about it makes me excited for you!!
Can’t wait to see more!! Can you imagine working women in that period wearing it all the time?
Country vibes old fashioned dressing is the bomb!!
That is the nicest thing ever! You're so kind and generous to say so :) :). I'd love to see what you make as well. For real, dealing with that much fabric, and I wasn't even wearing a corset underneath, women back then had so much to navigate (dress and more)!
This is Adorable and Delightfull.
I could say alot...
I felt the Hope 💗🌟💓
You're so kind, thanks for the warm and lovely feedback! I'm so glad you could relate to my feelings and thoughts :) :)
Wow it’s beautiful.lm sewing a17 century linen petty coat skirt today, new to this older style dressing and love how feminine it is.wishing you luck with your channel and showing us your home made clothes ❤️really nice job 👍
So cool! I hope you can show me the beautiful linen petty coat when it's completed? I'd love to see it :)
I’m an over sharrerrrr too lol 😅love your style! Please keep making videos!!!
Lol, totally, I can’t help it :). Thanks for the encouragement and kind words! 🥰
I love everything, I want to go back and live in that era. ❤
Thank you such much :). I'm so interested in off-grid living and crafts and skills from the past. The craftsmanship and self-sufficient abilities were remarkable!
I just found your channel and I love your vibe! Subbed!❤
Hi Kelsey, Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're here and I really appreciate your feedback :)
Been watching Death Valley Days lately. love the clothes. men's hates are great too.
Actually the ladies dresses are designed by one individual all the way through the series. It mixes long gathered dresses with the 50s bodice. It’s quirky but appreciative of fabric design.
You sound and look like Sarah, Jessica Parker. Yes. That’s a compliment. ❤ Thank you so much for this! I am getting a sewing machine soon, and I want to make my own dresses. I hate pants lol.
LOL, I get that comparison a lot it seems. Thanks for the kind feedback! How exciting, I hope to see what you make soon :)
New sub here.
Love this dress, they are a but much to make
My momma & I made my wedding dress, Viking style dress, in satin.
I would LOVE to have a couple cotton old fashion style dresses to where, to town or what ever. 😆
You nailed the prarie style. And the apron will be a great compliment. Your daughter's apron is that pleated and smocked? Loved it!
Thanks so much!!! I agree, I think this outfit goes great with an apron. I love my daughter's apron, but I didn't make it. It was a gift. One day I want to learn how to smock. It's such a beautiful technique :)
@@jodeanadara I'm curious how they used the bottom ruffles. I've worked for hat makers so i kicked it in dated styles. Like you I try to be in that moment of prairie living with style every now and then. Ruffles are so feminine and have a great flow. SO MUCH FABRIC! So worth it.
@@junemoores1146 I couldn't agree more :) :). Wow, you worked with hat makers before, that sounds really neat!
I really like the garments you make, so up my alley. And it’s nice to see im not the only one sometimes struggling with my sewing projects 😅. If I might make one observation, i like listening to you tell your story but the music playing over it is a little distracting as well as sometimes jarring with the sentiments you’re trying to convey. Just hearing you speak without the music is more relaxing i guess 🤔. And I really like to listen to what you have to say cause I really like your channel.
Thank you so, so much, I really appreciate your thoughtful feedback! A few people have talked about the background music. I need to experiment with this some more I think. I'm not sure why I feel I need it, but often when there's no background music I think something is lacking. Maybe it's a confidence issue? But I'm so happy you like the channel and the projects! It really means a lot to me :)
When you wear a full sleeve linen dress like this, does it feel cool and airy? Would it be suitable for a hot desert climate?
Hi Madison, The dress does feel pretty cool. It's thin linen, which I'm sure helps. But I've never been in a desert climate before. I don't understand what dry heat feels like, only humid heat that usually doesn't go above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I wish I could say for certain, but I don't think I can. Warmly, Jo
🌱The dress turned out so good and I love your room decor, do you think you would ever do a room tour? 🌱
Hi there! Thank you so much for the kind feedback, I really appreciate it :). Absolutely, I'd love to give you a room tour. It's the first room in my house (besides my hallway) that has been recently redone. The rest of the house is a bit of a mess. I love DIY projects, but between my full time job and my family (and then this channel), I never seem to have the time to do much of anything else. There's actually one part of my room that still needs refinishing. I'll go ahead and make a video with a room tour and shelf project. If there's something specific you have in mind, I'm totally open to it. I've never done anything like this before, so I'm a bit unsure of what exactly to do :)
@@jodeanadara No problem! 😊 Well, from what I can see, it looks like you’ve done a really good job. Maybe you could film some of your diy projects and decorating the room, then you could show the reveal?
@@ameliaroseillustrations Thanks so much! Yes, I love that idea. I'll work on that :)
Me too
Thanks Lexie, I'll work on that in future videos! I put a lengthy welt pocket tutorial in my most recent video, now that I think of it :). It's the Red Dead Redemption one. Let me know if that's what you mean. Cheers, Jo
Remember it is a work dress. They used whatever fabric that was available.
Whats the music playing?
I haven’t watched that video for a long while, but I think it has a few songs in it. Do you mean the intro or reveal? I generally get all my songs from Canva. 🥰
I love your style it’s very pleasing to look at and your sewing skills are really good for someone new to sewing 🧵 ❤
Thanks a bunch! I really appreciate your kind words :) I actually learned to sew back in high school. I made lots of clothing up until I had my first child in my early 20s. Now both my kids are older, I'm finally finding I have some me-time here and there to work on long lost hobbies. So I'm picking up where I left off :)
I would really love to see more of the actual sewing process in your videos. I love what you make.
Thanks! I like that idea too. I'm not exactly sure what that would look like, so I guess I'll do some trial and error :)
