I recently gave ielts exam from BC and got L: 8 R:8.5 W:7 S:7 The lady examining my speaking was very polite and helpful. Infact she was smiling throughout the conversation and that really boosted up my confidence. So yea sometimes your speaking test may depend on the examiner you are facing but anyhow always keep your confidence up and a smile on your face to achieve good marks.
All test which are conducted by British Council and IDP are compiled by Cambridge English Language Assessment. So there is no difference between the IELTS test at BC and in IDP. Difficulty level at both is same. ... So, there is no difference between examiners and marking in the BC and IDP

It is absolutely true that the BC Speaking examiners are not good at responding to speakers. My first test was with IDP and examiner was very helpful. But the BC examiner was just like a test handler who was watching somewhere, making weird expressions doing some thing else other than actively listening to me. It was as though her job was to get my audio recorded but not participate in the Speaking. It was weird, made me more nervous and it did affect my score.

The exam is really easy. When it comes to speaking one should use 3-5 good words and a couple of idioms. Listening is a bit tricky and totally depends on your exposure with British, American, Canadian and Australian accent. You need that 30mins of focus while the listening test. Reading is easy and one can easily score 8.0 if your head is at the right place. When it comes to writing, it requires practices as many people tend to make spelling mistakes unintentionally, leave out punctuations and grammatical errors. Still one can get 7.0. I took a test couple of weeks back and i scored L:8.5, R: 8.5 ,S: 8 and W:7.5.
Hey dekey, i know how it feels to get 7.5 in listening and trust me i have gone through that feeling once. As you said you are stuck on 7.5 which means you have got about 33-34 correct on 40. I don’t personally think you fail to understand what they are saying in the recording, its just your concentration during that 30mins. I would say try to get 1-10 correct as they are simple and you have a lot of time to go through the questions. 11-20 are easy but you get less time to read so try to read once and remember, if its a map then focus on what the person in recording is saying. 21-30 are really tricky as it is mostly multiple choice and a little confusing as the options are lengthy. In these questions i used to go wrong so i kept my margin of 5 wrongs here. 31-40 are really easy but you don’t have time as they go all one after the other and you have no break. But if you focus on listening you shall get all correct. Watch out for 39-40 as the recording ends all of a sudden and during my practice i missed out on them a couple of times lol. To recapitulate all you need is focus and faith however i am not a tutor and what i am sharing is just my experience. I hope it helps you and do practice a lot at home with ridiculous headphones as you get decent ones in exams. All the best and i hope you succeed in the exams this time.
In my opinion... IDP is more to earn money... They give me 6 in reading which was least expected by me. Overall I score 8 with 8.5 , 8, 8.5. so IDP Sucks and their test centers have no AC and light. For 3 hrs they keep person in suffocating chamber. My reccomendation don't appear for IDP.
tarun songra check out in british council i’ve gaven my exams 4 months back and got less band score. When i started going through YT videos from various ielts tutors i got a clear idea on it and recently i gaven my second attempt and when my results are out i was totally amazed that i got the same score as my earlier one. They are cheating on people

I have 3 questions regarding BCL- DELHI:- Q1:- Is British council library (Delhi) a private library? Q2:- what is its annual membership fees? Q3:- Does BCL-Delhi keep self improvement books like megaliving, atomic habits , as a man thinketh, rich dad poor dad, power of sub conscious mind etc?
Many people don't know these basic things: 1. IELTS is co-owned by British Council, IDP and Cambridge 2. Neither British Council, Nor IDP makes the questions, it's done by Cambridge; hence, no matter where you take the test, it's all the same. On the same day, IDP and British Council will use the same question paper (for paper-based) in a given country. 3. The scoring is done by Cambridge. So, you'll get what you deserve. It doesn't matter if you are taking from British Council or IDP. 4. The examiners are trained by special trained people. To get certified as a speaking examiner (or other examiners) you'll have to pass the same standard since it's from Cambridge. The person who made this video doesn't know how the complete IELTS system works! Even if you have a new passport, IDP and British Council understand who's taking the test. Cause you are inputting much other info (e.g. date of birth, name, email etc.). If you take a test today from IDP and take another test from British Council tomorrow, your results will be cross-checked! It's easy for Cambridge since all the data is with Cambridge and they have very sophisticated software in place. If you get banned from IELTS for malpractice in one country and travel to another country, take the test with a different ID/Passport, you'll be detected and the second test result will also be cancelled! Even if you take the test after the ban period (usually 2 years) and have a completely new ID/Passport, your result will still be under review. So, when it comes about the question "IDP v/s British Council (Which is easier?)", it's all the same.
It is very difficult to concentrate on what you are saying because unlike other trainers you make a lot of errors like repeating already said words in unwanted place and touching your glasses time to time shows you are in a manner adjusting and its a lack of confidence which shows. I think your videos are great but you do need to fix on your rhoticity. You seem to mix North American rhotic pronunciation and British Received Pronunciation with your base Indian English accent. The more serious problem I'd like to point out is your lack of consistency with it. For instance, you pronounce 'remember' with a definitive North American accent but you pronounce 'rather' with a British accent because you don't pronounce the trailing 'r'. Moreover, you pronounce 'practising' with a rolled R which is how most Indians pronounce rhotic words. I hope you consider this constructive criticism. (Note: I'm not a native English speaker but it has been my primary language. I've taken the IELTS only once with a score of L 8.5, R 9.0, W 7.5, S 8.0)

Sometimes we think we are doing good but we make mistakes. I’d suggest u get your writing reviewed by someone who has scored good on Writing. He/ she would let you know if you are doing any mistakes.

Do your exam at British Council, If you booked IDP, it will take 3 months to issue results. they are 3rd party so they still have to submit your papers to British Council and wait in the queue.

If at all you have to give your results for revaluation, IDP is very much faster compared to BC. Got my EOR with a positive change within two weeks and the refund also on the same day. I can guarantee you that doesn't happen with BC , atleast not in India. It takes months for the BC to do that. Moreover, IDP help center is very much helpful in case you have any query regarding the tests or EOR.

In IDP my speaking session lasted for just 3 min and the examiner lady was in some kind of hurry didnt even bother to give me a proper 1 min time for my q card topic as a result of that 6.0 . They take general training people for granted and fail them on pourpose

IDP is charlatan and a complete rip off your money & time! Seriously, you may expect appropriate score after taking the test for the 2nd/3rd time from IDP. What's horrendous is that, THEY DO TAMPER YOUR SCORE if it's computer delivered...!!! Trust me guys, pls avoid IDP if you're from the south east Asia.
Congratulation, you must have worked hard to achieve this score. Most people fail multiple times before getting CLB9, it's like a nightmare which I'm currently going through.😊

Last December my bestfriend and I have taken IELTS examination on the same day , but she was registered with British Council and I was in IDP ... we have talked about our experiences post examination and we were surprised to know that our exams were both the same from Listening, Writing and Reading .
In my opinon British Council is much better than IDP and I'm not saying in air but with my own experience. 1. In IDP: Mostly Inteviewers are Indians and they well know our speaking types. For instance, if we say picnic, this will make no impact on their mind but if we speak same word in British Council, there they';; appreciate this word. I 2. IDP interviewers are look for your grammar but honestly british council far better than this. Just keep some english speaking rules with you and everything will work 3. In 2012 I gave IELTS Academic: IDP: 6.5 after 20 days British Council: 7.5 . Which seems a big gap.

As its evident that everyone is talking about IDP Vs. British Council. So i had my exam on 19 July 2018 with Idp. It was my first attempt. So as my speaking part it went really well, questions were familiar moreover examiner was also building a good communication with very calm and gleeful gestures... whereas coming upon my writing, reading & listening so the reading was competently good even listening was also reliably good. Nevertheless when i was handed the writing task..its feel like i kicked my ball in the goalposts. The essay was on environment concern...how can we foster people to safe energy at home? Simultaneously, i work over it and get my writing section done exact at 44Min. I still left with 16 min in the end.. i do recheck my both the task. Made some lexical corrections and assumed it a good presentation. But day before yesterday my result put me in a grave and i do peers on my performance. I got 5 in writing. As during my preparation i'm scoring 7 in writing...so its casual thing that we might cope up with bizarre of problems on our test day...so we can take an estimate that if its not 7 then it must be 6.5 in the test.. but 5? This is something i lose faith in myself. Because this put me in the delve to ask myself what i have studied during my institutions days and this questioned over the command of my English. Really very very very disappointed. Rs.13,000 is not a small amount. #IDP Flout

I feel like British council is better than IDP in terms of giving scores. Idp give less score to people whereas British council give more. My friend got 9 in Speaking, and rest all above 8 whereas, I got 7 in listening and speaking and 6.5 in reading and writing. I expected more!
Hello everyone. Firstly I want to explain about my experiences and also my desired targets and band scores. I will study in the UK as the last term of my bachelor's degree then I will get double diploma. I've taken the IELTS exam with IDP for three times but unfortunatley I got overall 5.5 in all of those test so that made me pretty frustrated and disappointed. Indeed, I do know one thing through, this was my errors and mistakes but IDP didn't deliver a bluetooth headphone in my hometown. My current and valid band scores are following as: L: 5.5 R: 4.5 W: 6 S: 6.5 Overall: 5.5 In that case, I've planned to take the test with British Council on August 11. This will be my first experience with the BC. I will share my experiences with you after the exam. Wish the best luck for everyone and getting desired band scores!!!

Idp is not biased .U will get what u deserve.there is no foul play by idp in their marking scheme. There is just no difference between idp and British council. Prepare well for good results .
Idp is not fair enough now because i have lot of friends who got 7.5 or 7 bands overall but they all have complaint against idp that intentionally they are trying to stuck candidates in any one of the module . so candidates can redo the test and pay them again. Don "t. Know about the british council experience .
Frankly speaking now both Ielts organisation only making money with fair or unfair way specially in Punjab because they know about the blind madness of Punjabi people to go abroad (canada).
The ask as part of their statistics to analyse. Examiner has no info about your reasons for apply. People don't get what score they wanted and invent all sorts of outlandish tales rather than improving their English.

I can attest to this as the same happened to me the first time I took it 4 years ago. I did it this year and the speaking examiner was better.

I have 3 questions regarding BCL- DELHI:-
Q1:- Is British council library (Delhi) a private library?
Q2:- what is its annual membership fees?
Q3:- Does BCL-Delhi keep self improvement books like megaliving, atomic habits , as a man thinketh, rich dad poor dad, power of sub conscious mind etc?
Many people don't know these basic things:
1. IELTS is co-owned by British Council, IDP and Cambridge
2. Neither British Council, Nor IDP makes the questions, it's done by Cambridge; hence, no matter where you take the test, it's all the same. On the same day, IDP and British Council will use the same question paper (for paper-based) in a given country.
3. The scoring is done by Cambridge. So, you'll get what you deserve. It doesn't matter if you are taking from British Council or IDP.
4. The examiners are trained by special trained people. To get certified as a speaking examiner (or other examiners) you'll have to pass the same standard since it's from Cambridge.
The person who made this video doesn't know how the complete IELTS system works! Even if you have a new passport, IDP and British Council understand who's taking the test. Cause you are inputting much other info (e.g. date of birth, name, email etc.). If you take a test today from IDP and take another test from British Council tomorrow, your results will be cross-checked! It's easy for Cambridge since all the data is with Cambridge and they have very sophisticated software in place.
If you get banned from IELTS for malpractice in one country and travel to another country, take the test with a different ID/Passport, you'll be detected and the second test result will also be cancelled! Even if you take the test after the ban period (usually 2 years) and have a completely new ID/Passport, your result will still be under review.
So, when it comes about the question "IDP v/s British Council (Which is easier?)", it's all the same.

It is very difficult to concentrate on what you are saying because unlike other trainers you make a lot of errors like repeating already said words in unwanted place and touching your glasses time to time shows you are in a manner adjusting and its a lack of confidence which shows. It's comes under opinion type.
I think your videos are great but you do need to fix on your rhoticity. You seem to mix North American rhotic pronunciation and British Received Pronunciation with your base Indian English accent. The more serious problem I'd like to point out is your lack of consistency with it. For instance, you pronounce 'remember' with a definitive North American accent but you pronounce 'rather' with a British accent because you don't pronounce the trailing 'r'. Moreover, you pronounce 'practising' with a rolled R which is how most Indians pronounce rhotic words.
I hope you consider this constructive criticism.
(Note: I'm not a native English speaker but it has been my primary language. I've taken the IELTS only once with a score of L 8.5, R 9.0, W 7.5, S 8.0)

I’d prefer prefer british Council because of the
following reasons :-
(1) Easy to apply online
(2) they will give your result which test form results ( hard copy for free ) while idp doesn’t give it hard copy anymore since February 2020

IDP is better coz u have chances that you get a foreigner in speaking module. So it's a bit advantage.. I took IELTS thru IDP and in my first attempt only I scored triple 8 , 7

The information presented here is misleading, the IELTS examination is compiled and controlled by Cambridge and it does not matter who is conducting the test.

Sometimes we think we are doing good but we make mistakes. I’d suggest u get your writing reviewed by someone who has scored good on Writing. He/ she would let you know if you are doing any mistakes.

Man, I need to get 6.5 overall and individual 6. I applied both times in British council but first time I got 6 overall band and in individual I scored L-6, R-5, W-6, S-6.5 But for the second time I got overall 6 and individual I scored L-6.5, R-6.5, W-6, S-5.5

Honestly if you're finding that difficult then you would face difficulty abroad. You have to understand all accents.

Do your exam at British Council, If you booked IDP, it will take 3 months to issue results. they are 3rd party so they still have to submit your papers to British Council and wait in the queue.

If at all you have to give your results for revaluation, IDP is very much faster compared to BC. Got my EOR with a positive change within two weeks and the refund also on the same day. I can guarantee you that doesn't happen with BC , atleast not in India. It takes months for the BC to do that. Moreover, IDP help center is very much helpful in case you have any query regarding the tests or EOR.

In IDP my speaking session lasted for just 3 min and the examiner lady was in some kind of hurry didnt even bother to give me a proper 1 min time for my q card topic as a result of that 6.0 . They take general training people for granted and fail them on pourpose

I had given test two times and both time I had given under BC board and clear in second time through the same board.

IDP is charlatan and a complete rip off your money & time! Seriously, you may expect appropriate score after taking the test for the 2nd/3rd time from IDP. What's horrendous is that, THEY DO TAMPER YOUR SCORE if it's computer delivered...!!! Trust me guys, pls avoid IDP if you're from the south east Asia.

Last December my bestfriend and I have taken IELTS examination on the same day , but she was registered with British Council and I was in IDP ... we have talked about our experiences post examination and we were surprised to know that our exams were both the same from Listening, Writing and Reading .

In my opinon British Council is much better than IDP and I'm not saying in air but with my own experience.
1. In IDP: Mostly Inteviewers are Indians and they well know our speaking types. For instance, if we say picnic, this will make no impact on their mind but if we speak same word in British Council, there they';; appreciate this word. I
2. IDP interviewers are look for your grammar but honestly british council far better than this. Just keep some english speaking rules with you and everything will work
3. In 2012 I gave IELTS Academic: IDP: 6.5 after 20 days British Council: 7.5 . Which seems a big gap.

As its evident that everyone is talking about IDP Vs. British Council. So i had my exam on 19 July 2018 with Idp. It was my first attempt. So as my speaking part it went really well, questions were familiar moreover examiner was also building a good communication with very calm and gleeful gestures... whereas coming upon my writing, reading & listening so the reading was competently good even listening was also reliably good. Nevertheless when i was handed the writing task..its feel like i kicked my ball in the goalposts. The essay was on environment concern...how can we foster people to safe energy at home? Simultaneously, i work over it and get my writing section done exact at 44Min. I still left with 16 min in the end.. i do recheck my both the task. Made some lexical corrections and assumed it a good presentation. But day before yesterday my result put me in a grave and i do peers on my performance. I got 5 in writing. As during my preparation i'm scoring 7 in writing...so its casual thing that we might cope up with bizarre of problems on our test day...so we can take an estimate that if its not 7 then it must be 6.5 in the test.. but 5? This is something i lose faith in myself. Because this put me in the delve to ask myself what i have studied during my institutions days and this questioned over the command of my English. Really very very very disappointed. Rs.13,000 is not a small amount. #IDP Flout

Hello everyone. Firstly I want to explain about my experiences and also my desired targets and band scores. I will study in the UK as the last term of my bachelor's degree then I will get double diploma.
I've taken the IELTS exam with IDP for three times but unfortunatley I got overall 5.5 in all of those test so that made me pretty frustrated and disappointed. Indeed, I do know one thing through, this was my errors and mistakes but IDP didn't deliver a bluetooth headphone in my hometown. My current and valid band scores are following as:
L: 5.5
R: 4.5
W: 6
S: 6.5
Overall: 5.5
In that case, I've planned to take the test with British Council on August 11. This will be my first experience with the BC. I will share my experiences with you after the exam. Wish the best luck for everyone and getting desired band scores!!!

I feel BC is making all a Business . Its profitable for them to make people fail than pass . Many people are failing to fet Ielts, nebosh etc... From BC. I NEVER RECOMMEND ANY ONE FOR "BC"

Idp is not biased .U will get what u deserve.there is no foul play by idp in their marking scheme.
There is just no difference between idp and British council. Prepare well for good results .

Idp is not fair enough now because i have lot of friends who got 7.5 or 7 bands overall but they all have complaint against idp that intentionally they are trying to stuck candidates in any one of the module . so candidates can redo the test and pay them again. Don "t. Know about the british council experience .
Frankly speaking now both Ielts organisation only making money with fair or unfair way specially in Punjab because they know about the blind madness of Punjabi people to go abroad (canada).

The ask as part of their statistics to analyse. Examiner has no info about your reasons for apply. People don't get what score they wanted and invent all sorts of outlandish tales rather than improving their English.
Selva KK in your speaking test they give small ticket that already mentioned what is your first language........
Drive By Wire haven't yet done it so I am not aware of it but that has nothing to do with grading and it's only to let the examiner know what your level of speaking is.

IELTS General is slightly easier than Academics but it should not stop you from giving your best effort :)
I have a problem inside my house, as I can't concentrate on my studies after evening specially due to strenuous sound of television and mobile phones. And unfortunately in our country again the cases are soaring so it might be a bit difficult for me to sit for mocks again before examination like last year.
