how do i paste data that is not in excel/sheets format, without it being pasted into 1 single box or even 1 single row? if not possible, is there a way i can highlight certain data and shift it over(paste) to the next column (to the right) without having to manually copy and paste it? EX. I have data from a PDF file and everytime I paste it the best i can do is have them separated in the vertical column, but not the horitzontal.

Normally you would import that as a "CSV," which stands for "comma-separated values." Is your data in a CSV style spreadsheet or is it in a text file?

@@datalabcc it was in a text file sir. I later figured out i could just ctrl+a the entire HTML website and then cut and paste, but i wasn't able to figure out how to convert text file w/ data separated by commas into a google spread sheet.
@@CoachNick Got it. Usually, if you copy just the table part of the webpage (which you can do by clicking and dragging over it), you can paste it into a Google Sheet and it will format properly. Usually, not always. There are also several Chrome extensions available from the Chrome Web Store that will copy web tables for you. But here's how you can import a text file with comma-separated values into a new Google Sheet. (Note that this works best if you have ONLY the values you want to import in the text file, and no headers, images, etc.)
1. Open a blank sheet in Google Sheets
2. Go to File > Import
3. Select the "Upload" tab and choose the file you want to import
4. When the "Import file" dialogue pops up, you can choose the location (you'll probably want the fourth option, "Replace current sheet" and you can can select "Comma" under "Separator Type." You can leave the last option "Convert text to numbers, dates, and formulas" as "Yes." Then click "Import data."
5. Hopefully that will show you what you need.

my whole table pastes in 1 column. I'm coyping it from a weird site (jungle scout) so it's maybe a javascript or something table idk...i just can't get it to paste right :(
