Hey there Travis from Coram, NY on north central Long Island in New York! I just want to give you a shout out for doing a road trip vlog today! Very appreciated! Your weather videos are top notch! Keep up the excellent work! 🏆🥇🌟⭐️😃👍🏽🙌🏽👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
About 16-17 years ago I was working at a business to business marketing center that had a flat roof. We had a couple of inches of snow in NE Georgia and.... yep, sure enough, the weight of the snow was enough to make the roof start to collapse! Buildings down in the southern part of the country aren't required to be able to handle the weight of even half a foot of snow.
Thanks for the update. I have to drive Sunday evening in the boundary between a possible 1-2 or 3-4 inches. Hoping for a miracle that no snow falls on my route! 😂 our road crews aren't used to more than one snow day per year.
Christmas 2004 had 12" of snow in Victoria, TX, and 8" in El Campo, which is closer to Houston. Growing up near Houston in the 80s and early 90s, I saw skiffs of snow as well as ice storms and sleet sometimes more than once a winter some years. I don't see that this is particularly unusual, it happens on the gulf coast now and then. The last few years have been warmer.
I really appreciate the updates. Our snowblower is in the shop because John Deere no longer has the (minor) part for our 13 year old model. The shop was able to order one somewhere, but we will be shoveling.
Yes the storm in Feb 1973 across central/south Georgia and the SE did have a number of roof failures ...mostly with commercial structures rather than homes
So I live in Pensacola Florida and this is a once-in-a-lifetime event for me. It snowed in 93 when I was 10 but I was too sick to go outside in it. 2014 was an ice storm but for the first time in my life they are confident that we are going to see snow with accumulation. And for me personally this is a dream come true. The inner child in me is going to absolutely love this and I'm just sad that it's not going to last longer. But when you're talking about potential roof failures I don't know. Our homes are built to withstand hurricanes but I know snow is heavy.
That’s a great point, and I’m not sure how that translates into construction. I do know there’s uplift pressure from winds, one of the reasons hurricane strapping is required to keep the roof down. Either way, it’s pretty wild to see the national weather service putting that out.
PLEASE, anyone in the South. With the temperatures dropping so low, so far south, your water pipes are at risk. Turn off your outside water to your hoses and let the residual water drain out. All sinks along the perimeter of your house inside have a better chance of freezing than inner rooms. Open the cabinet doors under the sinks so the heat can get to those pipes. You can also turn on the faucet and let the water drip or trickle.
Because I don’t care about Texas, I’m just kidding, but that’s what that implies maybe? I certainly do and I am concerned about the snow north of Houston. I will try to be better.
Not specifically maybe in tonight’s video, but I literally said “downeast ” vs just Maine in the AM video Saturday. I try but cannot nor do I have time to say every regional spot. Sometimes you will just be northeast. The people of the bootheel of Missouri, UP of Michigan, panhandle upstate of you name it complain too. It’s a big country to cover in 10 minutes

I saw 12” in Dallas one time…no… wait. The 12” was in Debbie, Debbie was in Dallas Tx. 😂
Nothing new under the sun. Stay warm out there.
Looks like a mini Nor'Easter..😊

Wow, very interesting and scary for you guys indeed! Those poor people in the hurricane effected region 😢
Travis going so far as to even bring his entire microphone assembly.
My friend, video is only as good as the sound!
Yjey KY giving us 2 to 4 in Pulasski County
Hi from Snowshoe WV elevation 4848. We already have 3 or more feet in the snow drifts. January has been rough up here. The skiers love it, though :)
I used to make multiple and I mean multiple trips of snowshoe every single year. My knees can’t handle the bumps anymore.
Hoping Richmond, VA. get’s more!

So if this cold air doesn't drop as far down as expected, does that mean it's possible for it to hit more north?
The NWS is talking about Snow Squalls tomorrow.
What do you think for VA beach!?
Why don't you ever zoom in on Texas when you're discussing totals? Only the east coast totals. Anyway, thanks for the update.

@@Realaaron1 No, he didn't.
@@WeatherWithTravis Hey thanks Travis. I do appreciate your hard work and clear communication.
I wish you at least occasionally talk about downeast Maine.
