Hey guys, I frikkin love this channel, such great content. Only one thing, does anyone else get like a "glitch" sound randomly in some videos (this one for example)? I don't know if it's me or what, it's really irritating, but the content is so good I watch anyway! Thanks again. Kev

Thanks for looking into the good VS evil elements of wrestling. Looking back at classic feuds of my childhood, like Austin & McMahon, it was the story of good and evil playing out in the ring that was the most captivating. Not work rate or how many flips and moves a wrestler can fit into 3 minutes. It was a basic tale of good fighting evil, and it felt genuine thanks to Austin and McMahon simply portraying exaggerated versions of themselves and being naturally talented with promos. The workrate doesn't mean as much when there isn't a meaningful story behind it.

    Great video.
Just one slight correction. Ultimate Warrior actually lost the Intercontinental Championship to Rick Rude at Wrestlemania 5. He would win it back from Rude at Summerslam later that year.
But it's only a minor point in what was a really good video.

I love all the REALLY old-school stuff ! A fan since 85 , but I studied in wrestling history since its inception. My parents always said if I only studied this much on school , I'd a professor or doctor or lawyer or something of the like lol !!!! I can't help it . I'm interested in what I'm interested in lol ! Money or not . I really love this channel and your in depth work . Thank you

I grew up during the Attitude era and the tail end of Hogan's first WWF run, but the history of the territories is the most interesting thing in wrestling to me today. Part of me always wishes to go back to an era 70-80 years ago when kayfabe was still heavily protected, just to have the experience and see the fan reactions to the heels. The wrestlers back then were legit tough, despite putting on worked contests.

Great biography so far. One minor correction though, the ultimate warrior actually lost at wrestlemania five to Rick rude along with the intercontinental title. But it was done in a way that protected the warrior and did propel him forward. He would later regain it that same year in 1989 at summer slam.

The guy pictured when you introduce Buddy Rogers is actually Johnny Valentine. They had identical gimmicks and looked very similar. The first Wrestling Pay Per View was The Wrestling Classic not Wrestlemania. The first Wrestlemania on PPV was Wrestlemania 2. Still a very enjoyable video!

Wrestlemania didn’t premiere on MTV. That was Brawl To End It All in 1984, War To Settle The Score in 1985, and Slammy Awards in 1986. Wrestlemania was on closed circuit television venues around the country and a few select PPV outlets.

WWE was sued by W.W.F. (World Wildlife Fund) for using the WWF thingy. They had to change their name, thus, WWE was born.

WWF by then had already gone public and started branding themselves as "WWF Entertainment Inc.", so dropping the F and becoming WWE was not such a big stretch. But it still coincided with the downturn in business after the Attitude era, Austin leaving, the rise of Super Cena and other things that lost a lot of older fans.

Wrestling started in Africa and extended to the second empire Asaia.thru Egypt to the Greeks and Romans even then it was still called the oldest martial arts the sumo and spin off judo and soon to be split between a real Olympic sporting event to cash entertainment.ive been inspired and marked since I was 6 with wwf 1976 I love it in a registered martial artist a student of medicine and advertising I also write scripts stories and raps.in 1995 I myself tried out for the WCW in Atlanta and was sent home in 2 weeks of failure .6yrs later I got a call from a&r department of WWE to design shirt's and signs for 1 season I got my design's on the back of 1000s and now I work for lebron James production company and I can't tell you how f ing happy wrestling has made my life the love and respect I have for this sport and entertainment

3 of my favourite wrestlers all died within 5 years and 2 of those within about 18 months of each other...
British Bulldog in 2002, Eddie Guerrero in 2005 and Benoit in 2007...
The Benoit incident was the tipping point for me and I have watched little mainstream Wrestling since 2007

Scripted don’t mean fake. You have to train to learn how to be a Wrestler. Many of the moves are real because there’s no way to fake them. You have to be an Athlete, as well as an Actor and a Stuntman. So never say fake.
And the Montreal Screwjob was not a work. Simply because if it had’ve been, Bret would’ve returned to WWF in 2001, after they bought WCW. Or at the earliest he could’ve done, contractually, and health wise. And Bret would’ve been given a hero’s welcome and they would’ve played off the screw job and the heel McMahon. Just like they did in 2010. Bret could’nt have wrestled that soon after the brain injury. But he could’ve cut promos. He could’ve managed someone that could’ve gone after Vince and his henchmen. Quite simply, they wouldn’t have waited until 2010. Bret wouldn’t have refused to appear at WM26 with the other WWE HOFers. That’s how you know it wasn’t a work. Because Bret and Vince didn’t make up until 2009. And then Bret came home in 2010. 2006 was strictly a HOF induction and DVD deal. That was it. There was no other involvement in WWE from Bret.
