Tatsuya's speed is actually faster than most since he can instant cast spells using pre-loaded spell sequences that he has memorized. I think it is more in the way that he uses his magic is so different that it cannot be measured because the tools are not designed to measure what he is doing (writing the spell sequence on the fly).

Their definition is weird. Magic is the change of something to something else, he only breaks things apart and put things back together, which has no change, therefore it doesn't count. somehow
Speed in this anime is the speed a mage is able to go through the steps in order to cast magic, not unlike a super computer translates data to create in this case actual changes to the world. "modern magic" and "traditional magic" is broken down, and honestly modern seems to be better in case of speed, scale and power, while traditional magic is in terms of "weird" and other special types. Tatsuya is a traditional type, his problem is that his inherent magic is so powerful, it takes up half of his brain capacity each, and in order to use magic at all his mother installed an computer chip in his brain, which made him lose all emotion. except for his sister...

@@keenno2001 In case you're interested, Tatsuya hasn't basically lost all of his emotions either, he just can't feel extreme emotions anymore. He can feel affection for someone but not lust, he can be mad at someone but not hate someone etc. This has to do with the areas in his brain responsible for strong emotions being overworked/replaced. His mother did this out of love for her children, and the price she had to pay was terrifying.
Basically his stats are over the roof in specific types making him god tier while his sister has the ability to use high end magic in every genre.

cause he lets her, he's probably afraid that defending himself from any of her attacks might hurt her which is kinda stupid since he can just heal or revive her if shit actually hits the fan, also he took down Lina fairly easy and I think Lina is way more powerful and defenetly also way more battle experienced than Miyuki

He never used his spell on Lina herself, only on Linas spells and gear, if he'd wanted to hit her actual body she'd be dead before even hitting the ground, provided there is anything left to hit the ground. And he is not part of the Yotsuba because he can't use the Magic he need to be a yotsuba. His special magic is not counted as magic. Miyuki described it as miracle.

its explained in the anime that his magic is specialised in areas that are overlooked when measuring magic ability, hes a genius at programming magic scripts, which means hes not the fastest caster, and they care about speed over style
@big frank fraser, it's more like what he is good at is so special it doesn't really make sense to the rest of the world as he isn't able to cast "magic" he is only able to destroy and create. Thus he is unbeatable as he can destroy people's spells and bodies while creating or restoring his allies. He is unable to alter or change spells thus he has no magical ability in the way the world thinks of magic. As if for example fireball is the most simple spell anyone who can't cast it would be thought to be unable to cast magic. This is where if finds himself completely unable to cast anything besides from the ultra specific "spells" he is able to use. Which aren't even really spells he simply breaks down the spell to nonexistent. He basically has only the delete key and undo key on a computer in world where everyone judges you on how fast you can type a sentence.
@@Small_Panda Not exactly. He can't use spell sequences that are already written quickly and efficiently. He can create any magic that he can see and understand the spell sequence for or write his own to create a desired effect (like snapping his finger to create an ultra-sonic boom that blows out an eardrum). Most people can't just build a spell sequence as quickly as he can. They use preloaded spell sequences and train to memorize how to initiate and utilize the spell sequence effectively.
Since almost no one can build their own sequence in such a short time (Tatsuya can do it near instantly for some spells to a few seconds for others), the measure used is how fast someone can initiate and control preloaded spell sequences, which Tatsuya is not good at.
An example would be taking the world's best computer programmer and having them initiate a script that is already built. Almost everyone else would just input the command to initiate and work out the functions to do what they want. But the best programmer has to analyze the entire script and adjust it before he can initiate it and since it is someone else's code, he isn't as good at the functions installed.
Now if they recognize this and basically gave Tatsuya a blank slate and instructions on what they want accomplished, he could write the entire sequence and initiate it without much of a problem.
At least that is how I understood it.

0:40 Did you do your research? Tatsuya didn't lose his emotions due to pain and suffering, it's a side effect when her mother did the human experiment on him. Both him and his mother lost their emotions.
Tatsuya mother never loss his emotions she just feel guilty and conflict of what she did to Maya and tatsuya using her magic. Maya claim that tatsuya her son as he had the same mental interference magic done on her. If she had no emotion she wouldn't treat tatsuya with such disdain she clearly has feelings towards tatsuya hostile feelings.
He's giving people the story as it unfolds in the webcomic literally chapter by chapter. So he's not going to mention that at the beginning because the webcomic did not mention that at the beginning.
It’s not like he can’t use magic, but he can only use one magic which is too powerful.
Wrong right away, his mother and aunt knew he was born with godlike magic that it didn't leave him capable of using normal magic. And to prevent the possibility of him turning into a threat to the world they sealed his powers by taking away his emotions and only leaving his love for his sister.

Its an arc that was made for the 3rd season, you can see parts of the season at the start of the other 2 seasons (reminiscence arc)
They took away his emotion beause with them he could very well destroy the world, think about it if in anger he turned a ton of metal into pure fission energy - KABOOM!
