Back then we were expected to live a holy life. Now people think this type of preaching is legalistic (or so they like to say) but it will keep us out of hell and allow us to have a relationship with God. power comes with holy living.

For years, I've sat in church, listening to this kind of preaching. It moved me, but once the steam wore off, I was back in my sins. After I became an adult, I began reading my bible for myself, and what I've learned--according to Romans--this kind of preaching was pushing me further into sin, TRYING TO FULFILL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW BY SELF EFFORT. I, now know, that I have to trust in Jesus, upholding the Law, then I could stop doing those things that preacher's speak about.
